I purchased some beer for a BBQ which was in a keg, when I got it back to my car I put it onto the back seat and was rewarded with a unwanted spray of beer. There was a hole in the side of the keg and the beer was spraying out uncontrollably all over me and the car.

I imediatly got it outside and proceeded to return it to the shop only to be told that it wasnt like that when they sold it me so I must have dropped it.

I pointed out that if I had dropped it it would be scratched and damaged whereas the only damage was the hole from which there was now a steady trickle.

I believe these kegs come in boxes and it looked like a puncture where someone had stuck a knife in to remove the keg. It seems to me that it failed as the pressure built from me carrying it.

I was wondering my actual rights regarding this.

IMHO its a case of your word against theirs, from a personal point of view your thread has made me aware of such a problem occurring.
