Discovered recentley that MBNA put a default on my credit file a few months before actually issuing a default notice! ICO accept that this occured, but still state that the processing was fair?!

Have I got any options here guys?

Hi Haggis,

Just checked my two MBNA cards

Ex Beneficial default registered on 31st Dec but DN not issued until 11th Jan but they did issue a letter on 2nd Dec advising that a default was due to be registered.

Virgin one registered on 30th Jan but DN not issued until 8th Feb and previous letter issued 4th Dec to advise default about to be registered.

So seem fairly consistent with mine, about the only thing though!

A notice of default is to advise you that you have defaulted on your payments and that a mark is about to be put on your credit file.

A DN is just what it says. It will detail the breach in the contract, the sum needed to rectify the breach and by when, plus what will happen if the breach is not rectified.

Thanks Vint. Dunno how I missed that before, always thought they were one and the same for some reason.
