Hi,

I am a disabled person, i have a blue badge. Recentley i used my daughters car and parked on the Brewery Car Park in Romford. No diasabled bays were free and after driving around and waiting for a bit i got a parking space near the back. I placed my disabled badge on the dash along with the clock, but it slidd off on to the floor,( the corsa has a curved dash), Pictures have been taken of the car but obviousley you cant see the floor. Technically i guess i should have the badge dispalyed, should i just pay it and have done with it or do i have chance if i challange the parking charge notice, £100 within 28 days and half that if i pay within 14 days.

I have also had similar problems at Mcdonalds in Docklands, where i recieved two notices for over staying the 90min time by 20mins and 29 mins, haveing read thru the forum, it seems i should just not reply to any of the letters they send, now charges on those are at £120, i am a little worried, i dont want to wake up and have my car clamped, in the mcdonald they have pictures of my bmw driving in and out of the premesis.

At one time when i had work i would have just paid to get them off my back, but i have recently lost my job and every penny counts, bit i am very worried that my car will be clamped or towed.

Can anyone advise please ... many thanks in advance

Furion

Defiant to the end !!:-x

my daughter and three of my sons friends have had tickets (they are just invoices) from MET.

You have two options but the bottom line is that the invoices issued by MET are not lawful and neither will they be enforced in court.

Its normally best just to ignore. That is what 3 of my sons friends did. They recieved about 7 letters over a period of 9 months each letter wanted more money. They have now given up and stopped. The best thing for you to do would be to keep the letters and not respond. You would only need to respond if they issued a countycourt summons against you. I dont think anyone has heard of MET issuing a summons.

My daughter decided to write back and there was threatening corrrespondence from MET. She wrote to the landlords and The Brewery (who did nothing) and there was an exchange of about 8 emails between my daughter and MET. She told them that she would not pay one penny and that if they thought they were correct then they sould sue her. They have now gone away as she has not heard from them for about 4 months.

Dont pay them a penny!

The above post is correct. The "tickets" are in reality an invoice for an alleged breach of contract.

They are unenforcable for a number of reasons. Have a read of the Private Parking Charges guide in the stickies section of the forum. It spells out some of those reasons.

The other thing to be aware of is that Disabled badges have no validity for parking on private land. The only exception to this is that cars displaying a disabled badge must not be clamped or towed. This is a requirement imposed on all licensed clampers by the Private Security Industry Regulations.

BTW unless Met are displaying signs saying that clamping or towing will take place they can't tow or clamp your car.

Also be aware they can't clamp or tow you for past "offenses" or for an alleged debt.
