After reading most of your excellent site, I have today posted a request for a refund of charges to the head office of Monument Visa in Northampton. I am afraid I never saw the 'preliminary' letter before I posted, but went straight to the 'Credit Card' letter demanding payment within 14 days or face legal action. Awaiting their response with baited breath.

Has anyone had any dealings with Monument ?

Received a standard letter back from them saying they will look into it etc etc. by no later than the 7th April. By the way, the address and contact is:

Emma Hayward-Smith (Customer Relations)

Monument

Portland Building

25 The High Street

Crawley

West Sussex, RH10 1BG

Should I write back saying that I will apply for court action on a certain date, or wait to see what they come back and say?

Any help appreciated.

I wrote to Monument for a list of charges. They wrote saying that the charge was £5.00 per statment and that this was the only way to get the information I wanted.

Saida, they are talking out of their bums. Did you send the DPA request letter from the library? They can charge £10 for the information but they have to provide it for this amount and not more.

Don't forget to contribute to the CAG. Without them we would probably still be drafting our prelim letters.

OH Cap One - £436/ So far received £40. MCOL submitted 17/7/06. Caved 4/8/06 for full amount!!!

OH Monument - £140, claim filed 8th May. Requested judgement by default, settled in full 4th July via out of court settlement (see thread). Total £192ish received.

Me Barclays - £630. Received letter 13th May offering £300 full and final (they can bog off). Claim filed 16th May. Acknowledgement of Service filed 22nd May to defend all of the claim. Allocation Questionnaire completed and Stay been ordered by Judge on 18/7/06!!!

Then report them to the ICO.

write them another letter, telling themyou have reported them and that failure to comply within the 40 day timeframe will result in you taking court action.

Please don't give up at the 1st hurdle, this is what they want.
