Can someone enlighten me please!!!

I have had 45 calls today from this number 07715993825

They ring me every day, this started at the beginning of the week.

They have been calling my mobile (how have they got my mobile number)

They ask me if I want to claim my bank charges back..

I have told them to F$$$ Off

I have left the phone hanging

I have screamed down the phone

I have played loud music

I have politely told them I do not have any bank charges never have

They claim they have a UK data base which tells them who has bank charges (Yeah Right) and thats how they obtained my mobile number.. (I do not have any bank charges to claim anyway)

If after the 30th time I do not respond they call using the witheld number.

Can I do anything about this? to be honest I am fed up with them ringing, I changed my last mobile number because I got fed up with marketing calls although not from the same company.

Any ideas most welcome

Get in touch with the Information Commissioner (now that OFCOM no longer deals with consumer complaints) - I had a similar problem with my landline and they sorted it very quickly.

You could also try your phone provider to see if they can identify which network the calls are coming from.

Lastly, depending upon your phone, you might be able to set it up so that calls from the number are automatically rejected, or assign it its own ringtone - silence!

I've just called that number from work and they answer as BCRS (Bank Charge Recovery Services) and they all speak with a Welsh accent. I asked the lady who answered for their address and who they were and she didn't seem sure but put me through to a supervisor who happily gave me the information and attempted a quick sales pitch and thenpointed me to their website bcrsonline (.co.uk) for their contact information.

I'd send the harassment letter to them - their address is:

Tom Tom Communications

Communications House

26 York Street

London

W1U 6PZ

Company No. 05635963

Their website also links to their complaints procedure:

If for any reason, you wish to make a complaint to Tom Tom Communictaions (also known as BCRS), Please do so in writing, by email or by phone. We have an internal complaints procedure that is compliant with the complaints handling rules 2006 as required by the Compensation Act 2006.

  • Complaint received either by telephone, letter, or e-mail.
  • Acknowledgement of complaint forwarded within five days.
  • A full response will be provided within four weeks or confirmation that the resolution will be forwarded within a total of eight weeks.
  • If the complaint is not resolved after this period the details of the claim Management Regulator will be provided.

I'd give them a call and ask them nicely to stop and if that doesn't work, the harassment letter...

Thanks for that, I have rung the number but it has always been engaged, i have asked them politley not to call, the first time they called, but to no avail...LOL

The only thing is, if I send them a harrasment letter I will have to disclose my number, (I know they already have it, but I do not want to drawn attention to my number), so one wonders if this is a good idea.

Where did they get my number from in the first place?

Could be one of a million places including just guessing it. Some places get an area code or first 6 or so digits of a number and then dial all of the possible combinations to see who they get.

Sounds like they are fishing for business since it all dried up with the OFT test case.

As they already have your number, I don't see any negative side to sending the harassment letter to be honest. Worst case is they harass you still and you prosecute!

Nannamoon, have you called the police?

I just Googled and got on to the 'SouthWalesMassive Forums' - somebody on there is a bit fed up with them too! (sorry - saying SouthWalesMassive made me feel a bit old!! :D)

The link's here:

Honestly though, surely they're breaking the law completely, doing this?

I will go and have a look a the forum, thanks..

They even rang at 10.30pm last night!!

I was getting a lot of these sort of calls a while back.. they used to call all times day and night.. I found out via BT customer complaints dept that my phone number, name and address was sold to various companies by some mailing company... who and how I never got to the bottom of it.. It eventually stopped when I moved and changed my number.. I now never give out personal details to any company and my phone is ex directory.

Personally i would buy one of those football match horns(fog horn) and let them have it full blast through your phone, don't worry about damaging their hearing,it would be case of in through one and out through the other :D

Thats a brilliant idea,we have one of those fog horns at work, we use it when someone does something stupid LOL, and as I work in an all male environment, they are always up for some fun.

On a serious note, it is really annoying.

B.A.Ts it is my mobile they are ringing on not my home number, (I am registered with TPS for my home number, which thankfully works.

on a serious note I will change my number if it carries on, although I am reluctant to do this as at my old age it takes me ages to learn the number.

Hi Nanamoon,

I had some calls to my mobile (which is rarely given out to friends let alone enemies - read DCAs), and could not work out where this Debt "specialist" company got my number from.

Rory32 suggested that seeing as I am on a contract phone rather than pay as you go, I was easy to find....although not 100% sure what triggered the phone calls off in the first place!!!??

It is awful that this company are literally hounding you. I hope that you decide to complain to them, and the IC, as per alexteh's and scarlet pimpernel's posts above.

Is it also worth speaking to your mobile network provider, to see if they can prevent your phone receiving witheld numbers? The only down side to witheld numbers is that some hospitals and schools withold their numbers, which are the sorts of calls that you may need to take. But as for silly companies whose business appears to have dried up....not thanks.

hope that you get this one resolved swiftly!

  • 3 months later...

I received a call today 21st January at 2.30pm from a lady who asked for either my wife or myself.

This lady said her name was Jessie and she was from a company called Europhone or it may have been spelled Eurofone as i wasn't interested in asking her.

I told her i wasn't interested in the call and not to call again.

After i put the phone down i dialled 1471 and heard that the number was 00 911 212 1406 but i couldn't find this on the internet so i was wondering if anyone has heard of this company or has information as to it's address and contact details.

This is the first time that i have obtained the phone number from one of these calls as ones received before have a withheld number

Thanks

Buy a whistle, no not a suit the type used a football matches.

Right in the middle of a conversation or after ‘hello’ give a strong blast down the phone.

The phone acts as an a amplifier so when something like a high pitched whistle sound is blown down the phone the result is usually a perforated eardrum for the caller.

Trust me they won’t call again.

If they do they might stop when all their staff have been sent home with bleeding ears.

This works especially well on DCA's.

Midland Bank (HSBC) = £5000

ABN AMRO = £7500

Rabobank = £5500

NatWest = £10,000

Alliance & Leicester = £15,000

Barclaycard = £12,500

Halifax (HBOS) = £25,000

Smile Bank = £5000 Written off

M&S Money = £2500 Written off

Abbey Loan Reduced by 50%

Re-Opened Bank Accounts = Natwest, HBOS

Two new Credit Cards

Default notices removed: Too numerous to mention

Default notices undeclared: 6

Hi all,

Just came across this thread.

Maybe you should throw a Court claim at them for Harrassement?

If you have logged down all their calls and have copies of all letters you have sent them, then I don`t think they will have a leg to stand on.

This will of course, cost you something up front, but you will be able to claim this back as well as possible compensation for the stress they`ve cause you, not to mention invasion of privacy and anything else you can think of.

Regards

Can't you register your mobile with TPS?

Grumpy

Yes, you can register mobile numbers with the TPS, I have. But, they already have his number.

TPS Registration

Whack a Court claim at them and sue [EDIT] them for Harrassment.
