  1. This is regarding my house sale which was sold at the end of April. I looked for an online conveyancing quote to keep costs to a minimum. I came across http://www.hbcconveyancing.co.uk/ i got a quick quote of £644. When i went ahead with my order i phoned up and asked about any other fees and if the coal report was included. I was told that price included all fees and its unlikely there will be any other charges. after the sale the total my lawyer took was just over £1200. £108 was for 2 chaps transfers, my request, so i got my money quicker. Its a long way off from the quote i got. What do you guys think here, does these charges seem normal or excessive. http://www.aaenpeach.com/ Aaen Peach Law are the solicitors linked to this online conveyancing mob, is there anything i can do apart from phone them up and moan at them? here is the quick quote i got here is a list below of the charges and fees legal fee ---------- £384 legal fee £54 chaps fee £54 payment of mandates and invoices on your behalf £54 £60 expidited completion, post and incidents £90 fee for acting on your behalf of your mortgage lender.... ------------------------------------------------- £12 transfre charge £60 Registration of Dischage of Standard Security £64 Registration of Advance Notice £108 completion and submission of registration documentation £170 property and legal entity multisearch £45 coal report £55 legal report £9 electronic identification verification per legal entity ------------------------------------------------- £54 transfer of redemption funds and charges and remittance
  2. Well not actually ripped off, I have not paid them. I hold my hand up to being a bit slack here. A tenant complained of a broken lock on a patio door. I googled and called a locksmith in Reading without doing my usual due diligence as I am busy refurbishing two flats. Locksmith arrives, does the job, and phones me. He wants £281, ask him for a v.a.t. invoice and he gets nasty, threatens to "break my door" or sit in. I threaten police action and he calms down, will ask office to phone me. That afternoon he phones me, office has reduced the cost to £181 including v.a.t. Ask for an invoice. Invoice arrives next day for £254.00 Query this with head office, (a one man micro company), and next day they send a revised bill for £181. I am now negotiating a further discount on the basis that, if I make a complaint to the Police about Reading locksmith's threats it could hurt their business. I have told him I shall be contacting Trading Standards. FWIIW, I found a similar complaint of this company over-charging on MSE. I have been away from this board for some time and have forgotten the rules, can I name and shame?
  3. Visited my mum tonight like I do every week, she is 80 and suffering from the onset of dementia. Last week she had mentioned she loved the movie Dirty Dancing and would like to get the music from it so she could play it at home. When I walked in she was all excited saying she had bought the music from a 2nd hand record shop. The first problem was she had bought a 2nd hand copy on cassette and does not have a cassette player. She then tells me she has to return to the shop on Monday to pay the rest of the money for it as she did not have enough on her when she was in the shop. I had a look at the cassette and the price on it was £3.99 reduced from £4.99. My mum said she had paid £20 towards the cassette and the guy in the shop had taken her name and address and also asked for her phone number but she could not remember it and told her to bring in the remaining £19.99 on Monday. Now I know people will say how would anyone think the price of the cassette would be £39.99 but my mum does not have a clue what sort of price these sort of things sell for. I was going to go into the shop tomorrow but it's closed, so I'm trying to get some time of work to go in with her on Monday. Not sure about the best way to deal with this.
  4. Can anyone advise me please, I'm a landlord and have had a tenant living in my property for over 6 years, only a small deposit given and I didn't put into a protected thing, I now need to get the property back and the tenant says I need to evict them as they want a council property, what can I do?
  5. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me please as I am at a loss. I purchased a phone from Mobile Phones Direct in March this year. When I received the phone it turned out that the tariff they were advertising was actually a 'cashback' deal and I would be paying double what I was expecting. In addition the camera leans on the phone is cracked. I reluctantly decided that the tariff issue was a 'lesson learned' but contacted them about the faulty phone. They requested that I sent them photos of the lens and the packaging the phone arrived in, which I sent by return. Since then I have had no response despite numerous emails asking them what they intended to do about the fault. Since then I have also started to notice that images are burning into the screen despite the use of a screensaver, since Mobile Phones Direct are not responding about the initial fault I doubt reporting the screen issue will do me any good. I also sent in my application for the cashback at the prescribed time but again, no response. I have just now tried contacting Vodafone to see if they can assist me but they are refusing to help as I didn't but insurance from Vodafone. I would have thought that, as Mobile Phones Direct sold Vodafone products, and I pay my bill directly to Vodafone that they would have some kind of responsibility to assist me? I am now left up the proverbial creek without a paddle, with it seems, no-one who can help me get a replacement phone or the money MPD owe me for the cashback
  6. Previously loyal disabled customer harassed, bullied and ripped off by Amazon Unfortunately our trusty old laptop was failing and needed replacing. As this was a desktop replacement we required something of a suitable size and standard. This does not come cheap. As this was a considerable investment for us and having been a previously loyal Amazon customer for many years, we decided to purchase from Amazon based on (an apparently incorrect) perception that if there was a problem with the purchase then we would have good support and come back if required. We did however have reservations due to Amazon’s seemingly increasing controversies (taxation, employee treatment, PRIME etc). We decided on a particular laptop model and specification but unfortunately it was out of stock new.It was however listed as available from Amazon Warehouse in ‘very good’ condition with ‘original packaging’.Having not purchased from Amazon Warehouse before, we were concerned by the low customer rating of 89% but could not access any actual reviews of them. The website did claim that the purchase came with ‘all the benefits of Amazon.co.uk fulfilment and customer service’ and ‘All of our products are backed by Amazon's satisfaction guarantee’.Unfortunately we were mislead by these false claims and made the purchase. At time of purchase a ‘not before’ delivery date was agreed in writing with Amazon.According to logs this was ignored/not actioned and attempt to deliver was apparently made by Amazon’s contracted courier Hermes. Because we were away, Hermes apparently proceeded to trespass around the property and attempted to gain access to various locked outbuildings. Apparently after failing to gain access, Hermes abandoned the expensive and fragile laptop in an outdoor area at the back of the property – exposed to the winter rain and cold.A crossed out ‘Next Directory’ calling card was later discovered through the letter box (despite this being an Amazon purchase). When I learnt of this attempted delivery through online tracking, I emailed Amazon customer service but they did not seem to understand and instead attempted to send Hermes around to trespass again. With considerable concern for both the security of the property and of the expensive purchase, I had to write a formal complaint to Amazon ‘complaints’ in order to stop this.We received a basic response from a Paul Grech of ‘Executive Customer Relations’. When we later returned to the property and located the abandoned delivery, it was completely soaked through with water and just collapsed when we tried to move it, and all the loose items fell out.At this point we realised that the item had also been falsely advertised. It was not in its original packaging at all (with the extras and value that entails), just the basic laptop loose in a brown box. An update to Mr Grech was supplied with photos and evidence (including the ‘Next Directory’ calling card). We reasonably expected the matter to be suitably resolved. To our disgust instead of a resolution, we received a rude, sarcastic and dismissive response from Paul Grech. He did not take the matter in any way seriously (ignoring the facts and evidence) and seemed to show an utter contempt for us.He also apportioned blame to us for only selecting ‘economy‘ delivery in an apparent attempt to up sell PRIME.He refused to allow us to return the item by suitable means, he refused to provide any replacement or alternative, he then attempts to bully us into keeping it as is. Paul Grech either has no knowledge or no concern for statutory rights, property rights, or disability rights. I then attempted to escalate the matter to the respective heads of Amazon; Mr Christopher North cnorth@amazon.com and Mr Jeff Bezos jeff@amazon.com.Unfortunately both Mr North and Mr Bezos did not feel that we warranted a response. To my surprise all we received was another dismissive email from Paul Grech claiming that ‘Chris and Jeff have requested that I respond to your letter and e-mails’. It is not clear why Paul Grech has directly targeted us, whether he has a problem with all disabled customers, or whether this is Amazon’s attitude to all customers now.Either way, as Paul Grech is apparently the highest level contactable person at Amazon, other potential customers should be aware of the terrible level of service to be expected from him. Due to these problems we still do not have a replacement laptop and have had to stop all courier deliveries due to security concerns. This has caused us considerable difficulties and will need hundreds of pounds spending to stop unauthorised access again. I hope this serves as a warning to other potential Amazon customers as we have not received any refund, let alone redress or ‘goodwill’.We received no redress or apology from Hermes management (if Amazon ever contacted them at all). All we have for our huge investment is worthless, unsafe, falsely advertised, unusable junk. Any help or advice appreciated.
  7. Hello, Last September I paid for a one month premium membership of a music forum. It was a small amount $10 or £6.50. The forum was not much use to me so I did not renew or so I thought. Today I have discovered that this forum has continued to take payments out of my account for a futher 4 months. I am furious as I did not sanction these payments. When I bought the membership it said 1x1 Monthly Membership, nothing about renewals. When I contacted them to complain they basically said no refunds and that I could cancel if I wanted. Trying even to find where I could cancel took me about an hour as it is well hidden and I really feel this website has employed underhanded tactics to con me out of money. The website is based in the US and I am in the UK and I am not sure how much I can do. Is there anyone I can make a formal complaint to regarding this? many thanks in advance
  8. The foreign exchange said they wont take it as it is ripped and the only option is to exchange it when I go back to Canada. Never been to Canada, unlikely I will ever go. Anyway to exchange it in Britain? Thanks
  9. I recently purchased a 1972 series 3 Landrover from Classic Land Rovers and 4x4s - John Brown 4x4 Ltd - John Brown 4x4 I paid strong money £7500 plus deliver because I believed I was buying a good LR from a professional garage. Looked great on their website and the blurb sounded good. I did not go to view it ( lack of time ) silly me. This was the description, For sale, Land Rover® Series 3 in Light Pastel Green (1972) MOT until April 2015 and tax exempt. Diesel 2286cc. This vehicle has been in the same ownership for 10 years, and was well loved. It has a comprehensive history file, with old MOTs going back 20 years, which suggest that the 33,000 miles is genuine.. ..in 1995 the mileage was 14,000, and the history shows light use year on year.. ..and this makes sense because the diesel engine sounds incredibly fit, and starts with consumate ease. In fact, this lovely Series 3 was driven up from Buckinghamshire! In addition to being tax exempt and having low miles on the clock, there are lots more goodies besides - it has parabolic springs and procomp shocks, free wheeling hubs, overdrive, and a superb (working) Capstan winch. ...this is a real plus, as they are known to be incredibly robust and strong, as they run directly off the engine. They are also sought after and therefore valuable! Finished in Light Pastel Green, the bodywork, as can be seen in the photos, is good. The interior is fitted with rear twin bench seats, and the side windows make it ideal for all the family. This is a pretty, vintage Land Rover®, benefitting from tax exemption, low mileage, and coupled with that winch, plus extras as listed, makes it quite desirable. When the LR arrived I could see it was not originally green it was blue as blue paint could still be scene in places ;-( I looked over the MOT's and noticed 4 years of MOT"S the mileage had not changed this raised suspicions. I tracked down the previous previous owner to ask about the lack of milage and MOT's he confirmed the millage was about 20k out as the speedo had not worked for a number of years. My issue is I am not a trader and have worked out the mileage was not correct. Johnbrown4x4 stated "with old MOTs going back 20 years, which suggest that the 33,000 miles is genuine" Clearly this is not the case. I decided to take the LR to a local LR no-nonsense garage and get them to look it over for me. Please watch this video. http://youtu.be/33lqoV8bAaA I think the video is rather damming given that johnbrown4x4 state that Finally, our in house inspection is far more thorough than an MOT, and we often undertake repairs to vehicles which have been deemed satisfactory by VOSA. As an example, just this week a vehicle came into the unit, having covered 4 miles since the last MOT. Our inspection diagnosed two loose wheel bearings, a loose swivel housing, and more worryingly, a badly worn ball joint, which seriously affected the safety of the steering. Because we are experts, we know where to look for problems, and also have the ability to solve them. In buying from us, you have the added peace of mind that not only has the vehicle had a VOSA inspection, it's had a John Brown 4x4 inspection” What a lot of rubbish. The LR was originally advertised for £7950 big money I offered them £7250 which they accepted but sent me this email "Trade sale (£800 discount on asking price) with no warranty implied or given" I am not a trader and understand that there was no warrantee however I do not think that the LR is fit for purpose given what the specialist has told me. I have asked JohnBrown4X4 for a refund and this is the response to my complaint Thank you for your call. The vehicle was sold with a current MOT until April 2015. The winch works perfectly. T he mileage was only suggested to be genuine as we did not have a complete history on it. It's impossible to gauge the time left on a clutch without removing the gearbox. There is not a Landrover in the land that doesn't leak oil from somewhere. There's bound to be improvements that can be made to an unrestored vehicle that's over 40 years old. The valuation of your garage is ridiculous. We are consulted nationally on setting valuations in National magazines. The vehicle was supplied under your direction as a trade sale at a trade price with no warranty implied or given. Thanks What steps next. I will be getting an AA/ RAC report then submitting this with an application to the small claims court. I shall make sure I post this in as many places as possible so to warn others. Oddly under there sold section the LR I have been sold has been removed.
  10. Hey guys, really was unsure if I was going to bother posting this, but here goes. I purchased a used iPhone 5 from a Game high street store last July 2013. It is obviously now out of the 1 year warranty they give you. I purchased the phone for the sum of £380 & I was sold the phone as "unlocked". I had been using the phone since July 13, initially with a "giffgaff" simcard (I believe is run on the o2 network, but for the past 4 months or so, I have used a "3" sim card in it. This week i decided to sell the phone & I selected "Erase all content and settings" on the phone prior to its sale. To save myself any hassle, I took the phone to a local highstreet store to sell, but they informed me the phone is locked to Vodafone. I can now confirm the phone will only activate with a Vodafone sim card & will now not accept my 3 sim I had been using in it for the previous 4 months. This has really annoyed me as I paid GAME a premium for an unlocked phone, which turns out to be locked to Vodafone after I had reset it back to factory before selling. I contacted my local game store (not where I purchased it) who were totally dismissive as it was outside the 12 months warranty. Manager didnt come near me but also wiped her hands clean. I phoned the GAME helpline in London & was told "well, youve been using a 3 sim card in it & it was unlocked when you bought it, so contact Apple,, its outside the 12 months warranty. Youve been using it for 14 months havent you?" This is the first time I have had cause to "erase all content and settings" which has bought this problem to light. Personally I belive I have been missold a phone by GAME, I cant belive how dismissive they have been. Should i just put this one down to experience, I don't want to as I feel ripped off, but I believe it will be extremely difficult to go anywhere with. Has anyone any thoughts?
  11. The girl in this story is my lovely partner who had a very bad experience with Homebase, and I want to share it with you all to see if you had experienced anything similar and what you did to sort of the situation. This story is about a girl that had a bathroom that needed a complete makeover as it looked like it belonged on the set of Austin Powers. So this girl started working a second job and saved every single penny she could, she worked her fingers to the bone till one day she had a nice little amount stashed away. After months and months of work she finally came to the point where she could order her new bathroom, Ok so it wasn't the dream bathroom she had hoped for but it would be lovely and would be perfect for her little flat. She had heard horror stories of badly constructed bathrooms so decided to go for a house hold name, someone she could trust, Homebase.. With the well trusted store on side she found a local bathroom fitters and she was off! 2 Months later and the suite was all ordered and now was the big day, the day this girls bathroom was to be fitted. The bathroom suite was delivered 2 hours late, not the best start. The girl poured herself a coffee and sat down to relax only to be startled by the plumber who informed her that the feet were missing off the bath. The girl was naturally annoyed, so called the Homebase but they did not answer to her, the bathroom fitting company also called and again no answer. The next few hours were spent with the bathroom fitters doing what they could, and then pausing to call Homebase, after a few more hours they answered. The girl was informed that the girl that they could not provide feet for the bath as it was now a discontinued item, and could not help further. The bathroom fitters only too eager to help sourced a new bath, but thanks to the Homebase the bath did not exactly match the suite. So far this little mistake by this well-known brand had cost the girl £250, the bathroom fitters were good enough not to charge any extra for the time it took them to arrange a new tub, again the girl could relax. The bathroom went up in no time and in 1 week the new suite was fitted and tiled beautifully, the girl was happy and it seemed all of her hard work was worth while! 1 month later the girl decided to throw a little dinner party, during the dinner party one of the guests came down to speak to the girl and informed her that although the bathroom suite was lovely the cistern seemed a different colour to the rest of the loo! The girl put down her glass of wine and went upstairs to check it out for herself. It seemed her friend was right, it was different, a huge wave of disappointed washed over the girl and she ended the party early and went to bed angry and upset that again this popular Homebase had let her down. The next morning the girl again called them again, and again they were not helpful, the girl explained the previous issues with the bath and now the toilet, she asked that they replace the Cistern with one of the same colour of the toilet but again they let her down, informing the girl that she would need to buy an entire toilet. The girl had spent all of her savings and was now being asked for a further £200, which she did not have. The girl again pleaded with Homebase to help, but their cold response was she has 7 days to check these type of things, and now it’s too late to do anything about it. The bathroom fitters called the store on the girl’s behalf and explained again the situation and even offered to buy a new cistern, but they would not sell them one, instead they again advised to buy a new toilet. The bathroom company informed the girl of this sad news and the girl again left feeling broken hearted. Obviously this girl is my girlfriend, now 1 year later the bathroom is complete and with no help or assistance from Homebase. Can someone please tell me why these big corporations think they can treat people like this!

  13. Hi, We bought second hand car from a garage in bristol (autobristol) we part x'd out car and paid the additional fee on debit card, 2 weeks later it completly broke dowm, took it to a garage who said it was an awful car should never have passed mot, we then contaced the garage who at 1st were very nice promising to call us back, they never did. the garage could not find the problem as all the memory had been swipped off and all the engine wire in the wrong place, but managed to get it started but were advised to get rid of it asap - it worked for a further week when it broke down again luckly this time we had RAC cover - we then called the garage he refused to have anything to do with the car we have sent him 2 letters as advised by trading standards - no reply. the car is currently parked outside our home. for the 8 weeks we have had the car it has worked for 2!! we are now in the process of taking legal action but as we have to upfront all the money with no guarantte we wil have it all back and if we do it could be as litlle as £50 a week back. A friend has advised if not fit for purchase we can recall the money we paid through our debit card?? any help welcome Thanks Laura
  14. I recently went to a garage near to where I live as a friend recomended them to me, and said that they have always been fair and honest. To cut a long story short, my eletcric window had stopped working, the said garage told me it was the window regulator, (without checking it) and said it would cost me £120, I agreed for the work to be done, when I collected my I car, the first thing I noticed was my door speaker had not been connected, then when I put my window down, it wouldnt go back up again, (same as before). I took my car back the same day, and was told that it had been a B******d of a job to do, and so I would need to book it back in, which I did for the following wednesday, anyway, when I retuned, I was told that it now need a window switch, which would cost £158.00+ VAT+ fitting (EH), I said ok i'll have to think about it, as it seemed a lot, and I had already paid for the fault that the garage said it was to be repaired. So I took my car to another garage for a second opinion, as I felt I was being royaly ripped off, the second garage stripped my door, and the result was, that no new window regulator has been fitted, just a load of cable ties and a coupe of bolts, to botch up the broken regulator, (so no window switch needed) a also broken door panel & courtesy light, the cost to me was £264.34, so all in all its cost me £384.34, for a window regulator. Can anyone give me any advice/help as to how I can get back some of the MASSIVE amount of MONEY im out of pocket!!!! Thanks in advance, as I know your all brilliant x
  15. We was parked in asda car park on 21/12/12 in the evening thinking it was a parent with child parking with our grandaughter, after our shopping we returned to our rental car as ours was in the garage being repaired as a woman had drove into us, to find a ticket, we went back into the store to complain & they told us that we was parked in a disabled space, which was an honest mistake. We spoke to the manager of the store & explained that we thought it was a parent & child space, he said he will make a call to see what he could do. He returned after around 10-15 minutes & said that he had sorted it & the ticket was wavered & to be careful in future where we parked. Today,19/4/13, i had a letter from the car hire company thanking us for a payment of £130, when i rang them to ask what the payment was for they said it was for a car parking ticket that we had received from asda on 21/12/12 which had been taken out of our bank account without us knowing & it had gone up to that much because it had not been paid! I explained to them that the manager had told us that it had been wavered & we had nothing to pay so they told me to get onto asda for a refund. I rang asda & they said it was nothing to do with them & the manager cannot remember saying that to us, so we went to the store this evening & saw another manager who is going to have a word with the other manager & talk to head office to see if anything can be done about it ,like we told him, fair enough it was a genuine mistake & if we had to pay the £40 fine then ok we would of, but he told us that it`s been wavered & to forget about it, which we did, but now we`ve had £130 taken out of our account for the fine. Can anyone please help with any advice, the manager is supposed to be ringing me again on monday to tell me the outcome & i would love to have some ammunition to throw back at him if his reply is negative.
  16. can some one help me me and my wife got a plasma tv from perfect homes 3 years ago it was the first time we had hire purchase agreement and the salesman told us the total cost we would have to pay is £2242.24 with insurance and coverplus we asked again how much for everything including coverplus and yet again we were told £2242.24 so we signed and we never missed a payment and today we called into the shop to make a payment and to ask how much we had left (we thought about £130) but were told we still had £450 which we disagreed we had been paying £13.08p a week and £10.78 was for the agreement and normal insurance and £2.30p was for coverplus and we were told when we signed that all of the £13.08p weekly payment would come off the total but after we looked at the agreement we have noticed that the £2.30p for the coverplus is being classed as separate from the agreement and now the total is about £2750 which we wouldnt have signed had we known this and the salesman has lied to us so can anyone tell me what if anything we can do about this as we feel we were lied to about what we would pay in total
  17. Hi all Can anyone help???? I recently had n car incident, i didn't have a collision but rather i was joining the motorway, just gaining speed when my bonnet flew up and smashed my windscreen. I contacted my insurers and notified them of my incident and they processed my claim. I my insurers have contacted me to say that my car has been considered a "write-off". I asked them about what happens next and they told me that someone will go out and asses the damage. and if it is a "write-off" they will pay-out on my claim, however they will deduct my excess and the remaining balance of my insurance policy. I understand the need to deduct the excess but why the remaining balance? i've not long had the insurnace so why do they have to deduct the my remaining months payments? i've check through my policy and i can't find, where it says that in the event of a "write-off" claim you have to payout your outstanding insurance balance. I currently pay by Monthly direct debit for my insurance, and have recently found out that this type of incident is common with my car (Renault Clio). The daily mail actually ran a article about it asking for recall in 2007. is there anything i can do? as i feel as through i'm being well and truly ripped off!
  18. I was in Lidl today and as I walked past a free standing display, I brushed past a piece of metal on the stand, which caught my coat and ripped it. I asked the manager for compensation and he told me I had to write a letter to Lidl head office and take it in to the shop with the coat and both would be sent away to their head office to make a claim. The coat was expensive and was in good condition (hardly worn). The rip is not very big but it has ruined the coat. Can you give me any advice as to how to word the letter. I really want them to give me the total cost of the coat as it was a gift and as I am on a low salary I cannot afford to buy a new one. Many thanks Gwen
  19. I bought a dishwasher on Monday from Comet which they had in stock in their Distribution Centre. It was due to be delivered on Saturday morning . As I understand that dishwasher is now mine. On Thursday after hearing that Comet was going into Administration I phoned to make sure there wouldn't be any problems but they assured me everything was in order for a Saturday delivery. On Friday evening I got a call from Comet to say it wouldn't be delivered and that I was to go back to the store for a refund. I went to the store on Saturday to be told there wouldn't be any refunds. So I am now out over £300 and stand to get nothing back. They will not tell me what happened to the dishwasher that was sold and allocated to me for delivery. Is this fraud?
  20. Hello. I am the sole Director of a small Company. I have been on holiday to the West Country, for one week. Today, is my first day back. This morning a bailliff from NSL turned up, although his Company paperwork said 'Task Enforcement Ltd', demanding £799.34. I was a bit, taken back. I asked what for and he gave me a warrant for £202.00. When I queried the difference, he kept suggesting that I could not read. It later transpired that the difference was his costs which he had not given me an account of. The original fine was for a yellow box junction, which I had contested. I did recieve a letter back, saying that they had found against me, and that my next option was to pay or go to court. I had planned to go to court to fight the yellow box fine, as it would have been a 'de minimis' infringement at best. With the pressure and time constraints of running a small business, I opted to pay the fine, although it did sit on my desk for a while. I was on holiday for 8 days and today is my fist day back at work. The bailiff was extremely curt and rude, especially as my business is customer facing and I had customers in an out, while he was here. I telephoned my bookeeper, who told me that while I was away that he had paid, a fine, but could not be sure which one. I told the bailiff to come back tomorrow and talk to my bookkeeper. He was not interested, he just wanted the money now. I asked for his ID which he was reticent to give. His badge gave a telephone number to call to check his ID. I called the number at 11:37 and it was an answerphone (they actually called back at 14:05, half an hour after the bailiff had left). I left a message, saying that I wanted to check a Bailiffs, I.D. Eventually the bailiff wrote out a, Notice of Seizure of Goods & Inventory. To which he started to add items and costs. The costs amounted to: Debt/Penalty Charge Notice £202.00 Letter £11.20 Levy Fee £56.73 + £59.85 Attendance to Remove Goods/Vehicle £175.00 Aborted Removal £195.00 VAT on Enforcement Costs £99.56 A grand total of £799.34 He showed this to me and I told him that I am not agreeing to it. At this point, he had not completed an inventory. I told him that the desks, computers and printer in the office, we not mine, but were leased. At this point, I had to leave the office for a 30 minute appointment. Told you, small office, there was no one else that could do it. I told him to return tomorrow, when the book keeper was in. He said no, he was removing everything from the office now. Whilst, I was out, the staff called me to say that he had started to unplug their computer's and was pilling them in the middle of the office. He was pestering the staff to pay his money. She staff told me that he had said he would wait in the office until 1pm. Eventually, one of the female members of staff, was so panicked that he was unplugging her computer, that she paid him the £799.34 from her own card. When I returned to the office, I noticed that he had completed the inventory, to include a large printer in the office, which is leased, as well as a cheap Dell Computor and a cheap binding machine. Also, he had riffled through my desk and drawers and appears to have opened some of my mail. Of which part was a new log book for one of the cars. The registration No of which he scribbled in the top corner of the Warrant of Exectution. Is anyone able to give me any advise or tell me what to do? I have been well and truly ripped off here and I do not want to let matters rest. Whilst on the subject, I have come across John Galt of bailiff-mediation.com. Has anyone ever used John and can they confirm that he is reputable? I have read other posts, but they seem to link back to a dead link. Thank you.
  21. Hi, so basically... my car is a e61 bmw 520d and it has air suspension which is controlled by a pump. The pump failed first time around and i had contacted the trader i bought it off and as it was under warranty i took it to a specialist and they diagnosed the pump had failed. even though the pump had failed he never replaced it and instead he replaced the complete wrong part! he replaced the offside air spring and not the pump. But supprisingly the fault dissapeard for 3 months and has now come back, i checked the paperwork and found that he replaced the wrong part! So is there anything i can do to sort this out. If it helps, i bought this car from a trader on finance so could the finance be affected (cancelled) seeing as the car was faulty when i bought it? as the 3 month warranty supplied by the trader has run out, i have to fork out £500 to the garage to get the pump fixed when he should have done it in the first place!!! Please help guys!! Thank You

  23. i rang a gentlemen that offered to come out to look at my sons bike as it wasnt running properly and it kept cutting out after 5mins of riding it. The guy had the bike for over 6 weeks and after many frustrating phone calls we got a call saying it was the stat motor (the start button) and it was going to cost £90 second hand and the rest off the bill was labour. The following day myself and my son went to collect the motorcycle 9.30 and my son asked to put the fearings back as we could see he was busy he was rude and said no. Anyway got the bike back 3 hours later and 3 miles driving back the bike broke down. I rang him and told him the work he has done has not solved the problem and i was stopping the check. He offered to come out but in my eyes what was the point he had the bike for 6 weeks i could not afford for him to have it any longer. A friend of a friend said i needed a new top end £100ish) new exhaust and that there had not been a new stat motor fitted. We have sold the bike for$400 we paid over £900 putting things right i just could not afford any more money on it. Was sold as a non runner. Now the mechanic guy has sent me a letter giving me 7 days to reply and now im so worried that he will send some guys round which as im disabled and on my own is worrying me to death i can sleep im worrying so much. How do i stand h also forgot to mention the back bearing went as my son was riding it home so we had to put that rite as well. Now my friends fella that had a look at it is not a professional mechanic but does do a LOT of motorbikes jobs fixing building etc... please anybody what can i do im so scared but at the same time i cant hand over such a large amount of money to work that did not even fix the bike ay advice help please. much appreciated 5 days left to reply to his letter or further action will be taken:???:
  24. Help, I am a working mum of three and I am having trouble with Welcome Finance. I took out a loan over three years which was due to be paid off November this year. I missed 2 payments and got a default charge on there last year. I contacted them and spoke to my "account manager". He told me to pay off the default amount, which I did that same day and up my monthly payments to £231 a month and my account will still be paid off in November. I checked my credit report and the balance owing was higher than it should be, I contacted them again and spoke to my "account manager", at first he was cocky but read his notes from my previous call in January and he said he doesnt understand where the extra £600 has come from as my account is actually £56 in credit due to me paying a higher monthly payment so he will have to speak to someone else. This company is making me ill, I cant plan my future because they keep addin money on. I dont know what to do?? x
