  1. Hi all, I have for the past few months been in dispute with Lowell regarding an old Studio account, now because they now have confirmation of where I live - they seem to have linked a really old account from Cabot (this was an old Barclays overdraft from over 10 years ago) which i'm sure we haven't made contact or payment on for well over 6 - however i can't be 100%. Is there a way of finding out for definite? The first letter went along the lines of 'now we know where you live blah blah - you owe £***'. Two weeks later another letter arrived saying we will accept £55 to clear the balance lol - why would they do this? is it because they know the debt is unenforceable and are out for any amount? The debt doesn't show on any credit report. .. what's the best course of action? Thank you in advance M
  2. I had a mobile contract with vodafone which I stopped paying about 2 and a half years ago due to a dispute. I expected to see it showing as defaulted on my credit file, but it looks like it is "up to date" and just shows the outstanding balance I'm confused. Can someone help me understand what is going on ? Edit: screenshot for clarity
  3. Hi In 2005 I got the following: Together Mortgage £113000, Picture Loan £33000, Welcome Loan £21000, RBS Debt totaling £25000 credit card debt totaling £ 9,000. PAYDAY LOANS total £1200. I was in great despair as I was going through a divorce had an ectopic pregnancy and lived in a house half built. I was off work due to ectopic pregnancy and was losing money fast. On top of this my step daughter came to live with me and I was trying to help her through college etc. My ex husband was very nasty and he was due to leave the army and I got frightened in to not taking any of his pension that I deserved for giving up my career to bring his daughter up. He cashed in all our joint policies and left me with nothing but debt. I was in despair literally and had a breakdown turned to alcohol (not badly but enough). I then tried reading self help books to try and change my mind set. I wrote myself blank cheques to all the people I owed and had them on my wall so that I could visualize on attracting money. I won £3800 from a 10p bingo ticket then I got a windfall of £32000. I cleared the credit card debt, got the house finished and reduced the welcome loan to £9000. I still owe the rest, I got the RBS loan secured against the house to free up monthly spends. My house is now worth £136000. I was annoyed though as I have paid over £37000 to IDEM not realising that to settle I need to pay another £42000!! I was younger stupid and scared. I have now rented out my house and I am living in a room, I have started my own company using all the skills I have and have enlisted friends to help me with their trades (I take a small percentage from them as I get them work). [EDITED] It is about visualizing and felling the luck and wealth. It takes only 16 seconds to vibrate mentally and put good thoughts out. I do not ask to win the lottery e.t.c but I try to create ways that I can help myself out of the mess I got in with money. [EDITED]
  4. I purchased an Orange 1 month rolling contract chip which was £25 per month and included unlimited calls, texts and internet which I thought was ideal as my son likes talking too much. Anyway he decides to call a premium rate number to some chat line thinking it is free and guess what the bill was raised to £100 in call charges without me being informed or a call to say the account has been suspended because of this, I could not even talk to anyone as there was only a mobile customer services which I refused to use. Eventually I contacted them and told them to cancel the contract gave one months notice and did not use the phone until it was suspended. I then get a £200 bill not stating any breakdown of how this has occurred and saying your account has now been suspended. I was shocked obviously I would have to pay for what has been used but not 200 any advice on this would be very much appreciated. Mashmallow:mad2:
  5. Hi, After some general advice. My son was injured in store on 2/6/13. Managers did not do accident book or anything, or take details until I insisted on them taking the details. They did not report injuries. One of the staff said it was not my sons fault. (A display unit fell on top of him - he was not messing around etc, he was just playing with a laptop that he was invited to do). CCTV would confirm this, but they have not got the CCTV yet apparently. There were witnesses etc. I emailed them on 3/6/13 and had a reply on 11/6/13 saying that I should keep my son under more control. My son is 5, he was not messing around, again confirmed by witnesses incuding staff, and CCTV would confirm. I complained about response and was promised a reply, which I had a voicemail asking me to call back. I called back and they have said they are dealing and I would hear this morning. I have not heard anything at all despite chasing them up. What should I do next? Regards Matt
  6. Hi We have been trying to get a SAR relating to a mortgage we held in 2003. We have written to the mortgage company 4 times since our original SAR sent in July. We have had 4 replies each from a different person within the organisation, each one returning our £10 cheque. They are telling us that due to the age of the account they no longer have the information we require. We have the mortgage account number and are still living at the same address as when we held the mortgage. We are now putting in a complaint to the ICO. I read on this site that they have to keep mortgage information for 12 years. Has anyone else been in this situation and been successful ?
  7. Hi everyone, i hope you can help. I purchased a Samsung TV from comet on 23.02.11. It has developed a fault where the volume goes up and down and switches channels automatically. I've searched Google and I'm not the only one, it seems a fairly common Samsung fault. I went to see the store on 16.08.12 ( year and half after purchase date) and they wanted nothing to do with it. The manager wouldn't even pass on the letter I'd taken in with me, just point blank refused to take it. He said my claim is with Samsung and nothing to do with them. I've written to Hugh Harvey explaining the details and quoting SOGA stating that a TV should be expected to last longer than 18months. Their reply was simply, i can have it inspected for £70 and IF they deem it a manufacturing fault, they'll help out with a discounted repair! Now firstly I'm not sure what they are going to class as a manufacturing fault and this sounds very wooly. And secondly, surely if the TV is faulty, shouldn't it be repaired or replaced FOC? I was going to write back and quote the EU 2 year legislation but after reading on here it doesn't seem worth it as SOGA is deemed to overrule it? What are my options now? I don't want to loose another £70 on their inspection if I'm still going to have to pay to have it fixed. Oh and it was paid with a debit card so no claim there any help much appreciated thanks
  8. Well I'm on here seeking advice given thet the jobcenter and TBG(workprog provider) both keep playing pass the parcel. I Have been unemployed for 3 years in an area with little to no public transport matching the local city work hours (most jobs in cardiff are 6am-11pm shifts for callcenter and shops) Now recently I attended a christening in london for my niece my brother came to wales to collect me and would be bringing me home , I asked at the jobcenter and was told this would be ok. Unfortunately my brothers car broke down meaning he was unable to get me home until the tuesday instead of the monday , I contacted TBG who said it was ok and they would re-book. However then On the 27th of June I recieved a letter dated the 13th June telling me i would be sanctioned for "not making sufficient effort" which was after my housing benefit had been suspended due to no evidence . Bearing in mind that the same work provider forced me into 4 weeks unpaid "Work experience" and refused to refund the transport costs or clothing costs. meaning any savings i had have been wasted. I Have been told by the jobcenter that its nothing to do with them and issues must be taken to TBG , I go to TBG and the refuse any help saying I need Forms from the Jobcenter (got the forms and filled in) Yet Trying to apply for hardship or crisis loans see me treated like the ball in ping pong with TBG passing me to the jobcenter , The Jobcenter telling me to phone up , And The phone jobcenter staff telling me to return to tbg.
  9. Had no luck with sending letters to HFC regarding 3 x defaulted accounts. Just got one back for all 3 saying, they hold the right to report how my account has been run. Any other tactics I can use?
