1. I have received a PCN for waiting within a box junction. The box junction was not serving a road junction, but covering the frontage of a fire station. My vehicle was only partially within the junction. The waiting was caused by a LGV performing a forced right turn ahead of me. Do I have grounds for an appeal?
2. Hi I hope someone can assist with the latest PCN recieved by my company on the 26/09/18. I have tried to review video evidence on-line but I am unable to download it as my browser is not compatible? Can I request details direct from Camden and if so will this start the appeal process? I reviewed pics submitted - 1st pic time 08.54.02, 2nd 08.54.13, 3rd 08.54.15 & 4th 08.55.15. I do recall that at time of alleged offence, trafalgar square was closed due to emergency road repairs in which caused more traffic than usual in surrounding area and gridlocked in places. I remember approaching the junction when suddenly various vehicles were crossing lanes in front of me, including buses in which blocked my original clear access. Also on reviewing the PCN, should it not state a contravention code or exact location due to 8 box junctions on Shaftesbury Avenue? I was crossing Shaftesbury avenue as I was actually travelling down Bloomsbury St. I drove down there today and could not see any appropriate signage apart from bus lane cameras. They also state that recording was made by an approved device yet I did not see any traffic enforcement cameras. Finally will it be Friday 5th October to submit appeal to still recieve 50% reduction? Many Thanks for looking. img20180928_17161721.pdf img20180928_17174174.pdf
3. Hi everyone, I just joined this site after a friend recommended it. Can you help me please? I got a fine from Newham Council for stopping on box junction. I believe you can stop if the lanes in front are clear, as you can see from link below the left one is clear so therefore would I be successful if I appeal? I don’t want to appeal if I will fail and then have to pay the full 150 and not discounted 65 if I pay within 2 weeks. .I would appreciate your advice. Thank you, rai
4. Contravention 31 says "do not enter the box unless your exit is clear or if you are turning right and need to wait because of oncoming moving traffic. It does not say anything about turning left. One can not see a clear exit as it is around the corner, especially where there is a pedestrian traffic light that goes green immediately after the green light for the traffic turning left. Why isn't it treated like the right turn? Or is it?
5. Is this yellow box junction legal just received a fine for this. Video: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pQjVf61e2hA
6. Hi all, Firstly, this is a great forum with very valuable content and discussion! I am a newbie but hope to add my input where i can in the near future! I received a PCN from Brent Council a few days ago. Images (attached) have been captured by a lanewatch CCTV camera - that is actually not listed on their CCTV map (found on their website). Perhaps it is not an 'approved' device? They have 'apparently' captured my vehicle in a box junction, but there are no clear pictures showing the number plate. All of them are very blurry. The last image in black is their only image which shows the number plate (i have scribbled over the letters) but it is completely black and still does not show the vehicle in the box junction. It looks like it may have been taken by another camera, but I cannot be 100% sure. I have requested the video evidence, but I keep getting error messages online. I wanted to know if I even have any grounds for appeal? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks Tam camera.PDF
7. Mrs EB got me a charge for stopping in a box junction. My question relates to the notifiaction and the wording of the law. The Act of Parliament mentions in Sch2 that the keeper is liable but in Sch 4 says the owner is liable. Now for most people that is one and the same but say for example you have bought a car on credit the finance company is the legal owner but you are patently the keeper but you havent been contacted in that capacity. So, which is it as the 2 schedules contradict each other ( it is not a case of using interchangeable terms, this is touched on in other parts of the legislation). secondly, this box junction is not of the standard design as per Sch 6 of the regs so requires DoT approval. Where can one find a list of junctions in a particular borough that have the necessary approval to see if this one is on the list. Would it be TFL in this instance or the borough? Maybe the DoT? all comments appreciated
8. I have received a penalty notice for turning left at a junction when there is a "no left turn" sign post at the junction, and a "must turn left" sign post about 30 metres further back on the road. In the past it was OK to turn left, but I guess at some point in the last year, usage had changed. My question is in two parts: - Is there any legal requirement to have a painted "turn right" sign on the road itself, in addition to sign posts? - What is the legal requirement for lighting the signs? - the junction is in a commercial area with street lights, ..because I simply did not notice the sign posts in the dark!
9. Got a PCN from TFL, stopping in the box junction of City rd and Graham rd, not far from Euston. No CCTV , and only 3 pictures ( attached ) 1. My car afterwards on normal piece of road with number plate visible 2 and 3 My car in the box junction stopped behind a bin lorry , you can't actually see my number plates. I lodged the following representation : ********************************** 1) The pictures on the notice do not show my vehicle on the box junction in any CLEARLY IDENTIFIABLE way. The box junction picture merely shows a lorry, with what could be any vehicle behind it, almost completely obscured. This could be any vehicle. Please provide some additional evidence that CLEARLY IDENTIFIES my vehicle committing an offence, otherwise I consider this matter not proven. 2. Representation procedure. Your letter clearly states representations must be made in writing. However when calling your enquiries number on 28th Sept I am informed that representations can be made at this email address. In addition , your operative claims that no written representation was received, despite it being sent first class two days previously. I believe this is a deliberate attempt to obfuscate the appeal process. Please explain these anomalies in a satisfactory way. I attach a copy of the letter you have received ( despite claiming otherwise ). Please acknowledge receipt of this communication immediately, failure to do so will confirm my suspicions of your attempts to impede the appeals process. ***************************************************************** After two weeks I received the reply : "Due to an administration error, your PCN has been cancelled" Moral of the story, it's always worth a representation - it costs nothing, they but the ticket on hold so you can still pay the discount rate if it fails. I'm wondering whether my appeal grounds were 100% valid and this was just a "try on" from TFL, either way, never cough up straight away, that's for sure.
10. Hiya i got yellowbox junction ticket .. Council uploaded the video evidence . I entered in YBJ while next car moved from junction but then eventually got stopped cos of signal. 11. Hi, I just received a PCN for Entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited on Cricklewood Lane. This junction box doesn't cover the whole intersection. Does this comply with the standard? I've attached a video showing this box junction and my car entering it (Silver Car) video.zip
12. I have received a PCN for parking contravention 31 "Entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited". I have viewed the CCTV footage which shows the traffic flowing when I enter the box junction but just as I am exiting the traffic comes to a sudden stop and I am forced to stop in the box junction. Do you think I have grounds for an appeal here? The CCTV footage can be viewed on "https viewmypcn dot co dot uk" with the below details: PCN Number: KT5792518A Reg: Y**** My vehicle is the grey vauxhall astra 3 door.
13. Hi, recently I received a PCN for entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited. I don't remember this situation, but picture from the notice is very controversial. I want ask should I appeal or better to pay a half price straight away?
14. Is there a minimum period for which car would need to be stationary in yellow box for it to be labelled as "stopping"? I have been sent two pictures showing 6.24 seconds "stop", as cars ahead were starting to move. Does local authority enforcement using cameras and remote monitoring require them to have signs posted stating that cameras are being used? There is a camera enforcement sign on main road, but not on the side road from which I turned in. Grateful for any comments and advice. Thanks
15. Hi guys, i've been trying to register to other forums (more than 14 days!!) but cant even register, thank this website i was able to register and post for help!! I have a PCN here with correct picture and vehicle registration number, but the contravention address is not printed clearly, cannot even read it. The stated junction does not exist; Colney Hatch Lane with Alexandra Road. The juniction with Colney Hatch Lane is Alexandra PARK road, not Alexandra Road. Although Alexadra Road exists near Colny Hatch Lane, it is not a junction with it. google maps coords: 51.603039, -0.142909 (this is Alexandra Road, Colney Hatch Lane is near it but not a junction). I don't have permission to post links or images as i'm new here, but basically on the letter the only part of the location is readable is Colney Hatch Lane j/w Alexandra £$£$@£%^$%. That last part is jumbled up like that, also no postcode. The online details held also states Alexandra Road N10, which is wrong. Do i have grounds for this? i believe i do with the incorrect location but i don't know how to word it. I have like 2 days left (thanks to the other forums). Many thanks.
16. I believe i was forced to stop in the junction by the traffic coming from the left, id like your opinion for an appeal please. i have the videon but cannot post it as i do not have 10 on more posts, can anyone help please
17. Please I need some help. I have been issued a PCN (penalty Charge Notice) from Merton council - 31J - entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited. It took place: London Road/Armfield Crescent (box junction) in Mitcham. When I arrived at the yellow box junction, it was empty and the traffic at the exit was moving. I proceeded to move inside the box and just as I approached the exit, the car in front stopped suddenly due to traffic ahead of it. I phoned up the authorities to ask them to send the video evidence on DVD to my home address. They said they do not do that but offered me to come and view the evidence at their offices. Therefore I went to the offices to view. I have viewed the video evidence and it showed that as I entered the empty junction box, the traffic ahead was moving. It was only when I was approaching the exit, that the car in front stopped suddenly, thus forcing me to stop in the box. My front tyres were out of the box but my rear tyres were in the box. I had stooped for approximately 13 seconds in the box and my brake lights were on as were the brake lights of the car in front. I did notice that there was a bus lane to the left of the junction box and cars were driving in there. The incident happened around 3.00pm so I presume the bus lane was not in force at that time. I have to pay by the 20th December to get the reduced rate of £65. Do I have grounds to appeal? If so for what reasons? How do I draft my appeals letter? I would be most grateful for any help or advice. Thank you very much
18. My wife has a LA PCN for stopping in a box junction which she doesnt think she did . She followed the link to the online info that shows 4 pictures of the car all off the box apart from one where she is half into it. So how do the council decide if you were stopped in the box or passing over it? Thanks for any help Sam
19. I have just received PCN for 'entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited'. PCN code is not given. This is the first of this kind for me and I have no idea what chance I have to make a successful appeal against this. But I know that the overall stoppage was no more than 10 seconds near the exit of the junction when a car ahead of me stopped despite some available space in its front.
20. I have received a PCN for stopping in this YBJ. There is a bus stop on the right, a bus pulled out at the time causing me to stop. I'm going to appeal. Can anyone check if the junction is valid one please? Thank you.
21. Hello All, I would very much appreciate some advice on the best way to appeal the pcn I received. I can access 5 still pictures but not the video evidence. Contravention code is 31J. I was on my way to collect my children from school so I drive this route twice a day 5days a week. It's the first time I have ever received a ticket for a box junction. There are some pedestrian led traffic lights not far off the yellow box junction and I think this is what made the car stop in front of me, as I would have not driven if the traffic had stopped in front - as you can see from the first picture. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
22. Hi everyone, Its been a while since I had PCN, but I think July month is not so good for me, I had a Fixed penalty from police on sunday for stoping on a laybay near heathrow and today in post from westminister council for yellow box junction. I won't say alot about yellow box ticket bcoz its my first and I have no clue how to deal with it. So I am just posting the video. Do you pros think I have any chance to challange this? Berkely Street is a side street and I was emerging onto picadilly which is a main street. Please ADMIN let me know if its not right to post video here.
23. Hello I'm a new driver and have had about four months experience of the roads since passing my test. I usually have my fiance in the passenger seat but he works in Germany for a few days each month. I received a letter through the post from Hammersmith and Fulham regarding me stopping at the Butterwick/Talgarth box junction, which looks to be the case from the images they included. My understanding fromt he road and traffic signs in the theory test I took earlier in the year (backed up in the 2012 DSA theory book - pages 178 Q8.5 and 289, Q11.123) is that I can enter a junction marked with yellow lines if my exit road or lane is clear. Has this rule been changed since the book was written ? The images sent show only part of the box section and my car, and not the exit. I have asked to view the moving footage at their offices, and they confirm a slot on Tuesday, meaning a half day off work. The authority says that I cannot have a copy to show others. As I have to go and see this on my own, its a little daunting as I am not entirely sure what I should be writing down or saying to them, or what to do if it shows the DSA answers are still valid. My fiance has suggested that the movieshould have enough detail, including a view of the exit otherwise the authority shoud not be able toissue a penalty. If the movie does show there was a clear exit out of the box, what should I do next as I will only have my observation (and the pictures sent last month) to raise a complaint ? The yellow box is on the Hammersmith one way system and my driving instructor - now retired- has said there were different rules which may have an impact as to whether I could enter or not, but they are not in the DSA book. Is this box part of a junction or part of a roundabout ?
24. Hello all, I have an outstanding fine for a box junction offence, which i challenged at the time, and the local authority said they would take further.(Islington BC) I cant recollect any correspondence on this matter for 6 months. This morning JBW turned up with van, and wanted to serve a levy. I had no vehicle outside house, and did not let them have access, but they were demanding £785.44. They could produce no paperwork, but he only had details on a smart phone. I told them that i had no money, (unemployed) and that i had not received any recent letters, for their visit. They told me that a colleague had called two weeks ago and posted a letter. I insisted that they should produce paperwork, and breakdown of fees etc. and should leave me details of their company so i could take it up with them. They left me a clamp form with a phone number and reference number on it, for me to contact their head office. All the time he was saying that an electronic warrent is all he needs, and he can return with a locksmith to levy goods. Sorry this is long winded and i am sure that there are some more questions that i can answer. What should my next move be? can i make some sort of offer to them? I am on pension credit, with small part time income. Any help or comments will be appreciated regards Dave
