Location

  1. Hi everyone I took a job last year in the North, meaning i relocated from the south. I was told I would be overseeing and working in the North at various location (7 to be precise) over 2 weeks, which were not too far apart. I was also told one of the locations was around 1.5 hours drive away but that i would only be there occasionally. Since starting the job, i have been at this location twice a week, taking me 2 hours to drive there and 2 hours to drive back from where i live and apparently its goping to be like that permanently. The other locations are a lot nearer, the furthest being 40 mins drive away. I have also been sent to the Midlands to cover locations with staff shortages etc and this has been at least once per week. I am having to finish my work of an evening, drive to the Midlands which is about 3-4 hours, stay in a hotel, work a full day then drive 3-4 hours to get home again. I am finding all this driving far too much and its not what I want from a job. My contract says i may be required to cover other locations in the country and i am happy to do so, occasionally, but this is getting too much. i do not want to be away from my family overnight on a regular basis. I have tried discussing it with my manager but he tells me that its part of my job. As far as i was aware the area i was supposed to be working is the North and that is what my job title states,(North Area), not the midlands, london or anywhere else. I am being asked more regularly to go to locations not in the North and feel like I am living out of a suitcase. My company give me a car and pay for the fuel so that isnt a problem, but I am so worn out and stressed with all the driving, Im no longer enjoying this job. So my question is.. . how much driving is too much? even though my contract states I can be sent to other locations in the country, what is reasonable? I do love the work, but all this time spent driving is ruining it. Thanks
  2. I have been fighting Cap One for almost a year with no luck. They take month's to give a reply and it has dragged on and on. I have all the required doc's SAR Etc. I now want to take it to FOS but they issued their 'Final Response' on 21/3/13 although many communications have passed since then. I have read somewhere that there is a 6 month time limit from the final response.... I did not know what this actually meant... thought it meant they would not discuss it any more lol. (sorry) Am I too late to go to FOS now???
  3. Hi please can someone advise me about my job. I've been working on a farm for a year and a half. To start with I was paid hourly and worked less than 40 hours a week on a temporary basis. I've never signed a contract but I then made a verbal agreement with the farmer that I would be paid monthly for a 45 hour average week with the actual hours usually being 60 a week and sometimes 80 for about 6 weeks at a time. To begin with I took the job (manual, dirty, dusty) as a challenge but lately I have had a fall out with the manager which makes the job harder and I now have personal issues with a terminally ill father as well. I am getting exhausted with it and would just like to know if people think I'm being taken for a mug and what I should do about it if anything.
  4. Note to self - Don't just click through a comparison site and go with the highest paying mobile recyling company. Foolishly sent my phone off to them over 2 weeks ago now. Their website just says they have sent my return pack, no communication from them, no money, and no response to the only way you seem to be able to contact them (through their website) Well and truely had I guess
  5. Hello, Cash4phones are trying to rip me off over my perfect condition samsung galaxy s 2 I sent them back in early september. I had the usual email stating it failed their inspection and they had revised their offer down from £107 to £38.19 due to excessive scratching on screen, it had a screen protector on all its life and was bubble wrapped massively before sending. Naturally I logged on to their site and rejected the offer, paid the £8 something to return the phone. This was on 16th september. On the 20th september I recieved a call from one of them offering me £87 plus the return fee back, I accepted this and got an email stating it had been transferred to my bank account and i may have to wait upto 10 working days for it to show. I have never seen this money. I have spoke to them twice on the phone since, and had a promise it would be with me no later than 1st november, since then I sent them a letter explaining I havent received my money and if they didnt pay Im going to pursue legal action. that was a week ago now, still no money, i now have to start a claim, is there anything I should specifically do? Ive been reading the threads here and following the links to see what others have done, I hope I get it right! I cannot stand that this company has taken my phone and money, and they are still doing it to everybody it seems, how can this be allowed! Regards
  6. Hello, First, post sorry if I break and rules, I have read through other posts but not got a clear understanding of my issue. Any help greatly appreciated. I have taken 2 loans with RBS £25000 2005 £25000 2007 I decided to apply for PPI personally rather than through a company. Although it was a hard decision because I'm rubbish at this sort of thing The second loan paid off the first loan midway through 5 year term so not a total figure. There is currently approx 4K left on the loan. No arrears or anything like that all in good order. RBS have accepted my PPI claim and offered me £862. Is this in the right ball park? how do they come to that figure. I put the numbers into some ppi calculators and the result was several thousands. Should I accept the good will offer or am I owed more? Cheers
  7. I was fined with trespassing with equipment to kill foxes earlier in the year which was a massive mistake on their part and mine for walking across fox protection land after doing rabbit control for a farmer. I phoned the courts after I was fined 600.00 set up a payment plan as I am a student and have no income we agreed on something like 6 pounds a week. This was coming from the same account which was used for internet stuff like ebay , paypal etc. The card was actually used by somebody else commiting fraud the bank had to immediately block it while it was investigated it was blocked for about 3 or 4 days we actually didn't know they meant block everything , as in usual direct debits such as car payments rent etc and THE COURT FINE ! I tried to explain the situation as im good to pay something I owe but they wouldn't have none of it it has been passed to COLLECTICA or something and my girlfriend received a letter through here door today (I don't live there much) saying they can change the locks and enter my home to take goods ? The problem is for my girlfriend its all her goods none of it mine apart from some of my clothes. How on earth do I go about it ? Its worrying her quite a bit and starting to annoy me that we should feel like this in her own home. Can anybody help us please ? thanks
  8. I've been sorting through some old paperwork and just realised I had PPI on an old Citi card dating back to 1999. The last payment on the account was Febraury 2007, so I'm wondering if it would be too late to claim the PPI back?! Looks like I've got all the statements, so could run into several £K!
  9. My brother has been sanctioned, JSA, apparently he will only be getting £30 instead of the usual £130 (or however much it is) it seems he didn't apply for a job. I don't know much more than that at the moment. Is there a risk of him losing housing benefit too? He went in the JC today & they gave him a right dressing down & told him he could lose ALL his benefits! He was in too much of a state to ask how long the sanction was for & about housing benefit. I could see this coming, he was too excited about the work program, he's on the course all this week apparently. I think he thought it was going to be a magic bullet this work program..
  10. changed my mind on posting this
  11. Hello. Just an idea of mine. I became interested in the Jobmatch scheme for JSA claimants. so I had a look at what I would be matched to if I was claiming that benefit. Zilch!! So I broadened my search from the South to England in general and found a job that I was doing 46 years ago paying NMW. It is approx 230 miles away. Would I be expected to apply for that job? Onto something a little more serious and a step further on. I receive ESA Support Group and am aged 64, 65 in 2 months. More out of interest than anything else to see what is actually going on with younger ESA claimants, can I be signposted to the Work Provider and the WFI's? You hear so much about these schemes and how people are treated I thought I would just like to see for myself first hand.
  12. Good morning. Our local hospital has woefully inadequate parking resulting in the disabled spaces being placed quite a distance from the entrance. The remedy for this is that benches have been placed so that disabled people can rest during the long walk. However my wife finds it impossible to complete the distance on foot and so parked her car in a "drop off only" space (displaying her blue badge). On her return to the car a red notice had been placed on it as a warning notice with no fee payable. The problem is now she has to go there again and will need to almost certainly park in the same place as there is no reasonable alternative. Where does she stand if a penalty notice is placed on her car?
  13. Hi there, im new here My problem is its payday tomorrow. I have numerous payday loans. 1st one is wonga. loan was due today, sent them an email to collections @ wonga . com . yesterday morning explaining the situation and try to get a repayment plan, still had no reply. This morning, got the standard email saying they tried to collect the money and it failed, as my pay doesnt go in til tomorrow, and also a phone call with an automated message to phone them back. The problem is when my pay goes into bank and i also have money due to quickquid, wage day advance and lending stream tomorrow. I know its probably too late to cancel my CPA's with them. So what do i do? do i stay up and keep checking my bank til my pay goes in and then transfer it? Next question is where do i transfer it? Im with Nationwide. I have an e-savings account that i opened ages ago and hardly used. Can the PDL's get to it if i transfer it there? Do i just concentrate on keeping hold of my money and start negotiating with the PDL's after its secure or is there anything i can do tonight at this hour? Any help would be much appreciated

  15. Hello, I am a 25 year old male from England. Having just received my latest letter from the DVLA I can honestly say I am furious to say the least. :-x Anyway... I am a provisional license holder who has been taking driving lessons for the best part of 2 years. I have lost count of the amount of lessons that I have had already and that is probably a good thing lol. To help me through this I have decided to go out and buy a car to get some extra practice due to the rising cost of driving lessons etc. I was all ready to get a car until I went to the opticians for a routine eye examination. My problems started on 14/1/2013 when I went to Specsavers. When looking in my drawer a month previous I came across an old letter from my last hospital check up which said "examination of the Fundi was difficult on the right disc due to Nystagmus but the left disc looked fine." - It also said that I have "good occular eye movements". I thought nothing of the letter until i went to Specsavers then I suddenly asked what is a Nystagmus? she explained what it was and I (probably stupidly) told her about the letter. Her reply was that I needed to declare this to the DVLA as it is classed by them as a Notifiable condition - which meant that I could be fined and my insurance void if I didn't. Thinking this was going to be just a quick - Yeah your fine sort of job I printed off a V1 form and sent it in the post. I received a reply on 26/1/2013 saying they have written to my doctor for more information. This was disappointing to say the least as I am still waiting to get my little car to finish my learning. I immediately made an appointment with my doctor to hopefully speed things up. While I was at the doctors surgery she said a letter from DVLA has come through and that it will be replied to now (presumably by other staff at the NHS). On 16/2/2013 (exactly three weeks later) I telephoned the DVLA to find out what was happening. Someone on the phone said that the DVLA have received my doctors letter and that they will send me a letter soon. Today being 25/2/2013 I received a reply from the DVLA!! This time it says that "we have now received medical information which has now been passed to the medical advisor for further advice. This could take up to 8 weeks" The thing is I don't want to wait another 2 months. If I did it would defeat the whole object and slow my driving down. Judging by what has been said online about the DVLA I don't expect it will be 8 weeks, I expect 2 months just for them to say I need another appointment, then a further few weeks to make it and more time after just to make the decision about my fitness to drive - Even though I meet the legal requirements after all. Is there anything I can do to speed this stupid process up? Can I still take my practical driving test while waiting for the DVLA to make their decision? (I am obviously a provisional license holder) Additional notes: I have worn eyeglasses for a while now to correct short shortsightedness and have no other eye problems or serious illnesses. I can read a number plate from 20 - 25 meters away without a problem. My friend has congenital Nystagmus and cannot see his computer screen without being really close up. I am not like that and was unaware I even had this silly Nystagmus thing! lol. If you have probably sensed my frustration in this post I apologize as the last letter has only just come about an hour ago. - Thankyou in advance for your replies!
  16. Tesco's have announced that there are traces of Zebra in some of their bar codes.
  17. Hi, I'm new and would like to thank anyone for any help in advance. I had a payday loan for £100, £129 due, with repayment on Thursday. As I have a new bank, they could not automatically take the £129. However, I bank transferred it on the due date (as it said it can be on their website). I sent an email and telephoned them informing them of the payment. All fine... but then: I kept getting calls/texts on Friday and I had also transferred £50 to that old account to cover another bill and PDE took £25. I phoned again, they apologized, said they would issue me with a £25 refund and pass on that its been paid. They took another £25 yesterday and I will face a bank charge aswell as a direct debit rejection charge from talktalk. Is there anyway I can claim the charges back from the mess that is PDE! So annoying! Thanks, Susan
  18. Amazing story !! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-20805966
  19. Afternoon all, I filled in and returned my ESA50 in Sep last year and have just received an appointment for my medical (I'm on CB ESA by the way) I did not seek any help when I filled in the form, (didn't occur to me to) and only listed my mental health condition, as part of my illness is undiagnosed and quite embarrassing (problem with controlling my bowel). Also I did not send any supporting evidence. Since sending in the form, my mental illness has gotten worse, although I am finally receiving counselling via my GP and am under the local psychology unit. My other illness (still undiagnosed but under the hospital for investigation) has also gotten worse plus for the past 16 weeks or so have been extremely fatigued to the point where I cant physically keep my eyes open (recently fell asleep on a bus and ended up on the other side of town - a place I'd never been before) and I ache all over, sometimes to the point that I cant get out of bed straight away, or do things like housework/shopping etc. I've heard/read all sorts of horror stories about ATOS, and in hindsight I should have looked past my embarrassing illness and included it on the form, (not so embarrassed about it any more) but will I be able to mention this at my medical or will they automatically disregard it as I didn't include it on ESA50? I am having a colonoscopy next week and am already anxious about this, the ATOS medical is soon after so am getting even more worked up . I'm going to see my GP tomorrow to see if she will write a report for me, and I will ask the same of my counsellor next week when I see him, but am I wasting my time? Also, if ATOS do not take it into consideration would I be able to use it in an appeal, or is a case of a fresh claim? I hope I've made sense, any advice greatly appreciated. Up2
  20. Hi, was just wondering if anyone has sent a hardship letter to their creditor(s) asking for their outstanding debt to be written off and if so, have you been successful or unsuccessful? Are some creditors more than others likely to agree to write the debt off and is there a limit to how much they will write off?
  21. Morning everyone, Just received my post and I've had a letter from DWP about an old social fund loan I have with them, I know I have this and it needs paying back, that's not the issue, I'm willing to pay them monthly when DH gets paid however they want almost £20 per week and we just can't afford this, do we have to pay them back at that amount or could we pay them less? I'm disabled so can't work so DH is the only income we have for now until my illness stabilises and then I'll be wanting (needing haha!) to find a part time job. How do we go about telling them that they are expecting too much? Thanks to anyone who replies.
  22. Hi i have set up a few too many companies which have traded less than 50k per year in some cases dormant with a small overdraft some have overdrawn DLAs which need correcting. I have not kept proper accounts but I can get these sorted, but I need to close these companies as soon as possible and move on. Does anyone have any advice please? Thanks in advace Acy
  23. I have an unsecured payday loan on which I have been unable to keep up repayments. The first missed payment was at the end of September, subsequently missing payments at the end of October and November. Received an email last week stating that: Pursuant to the Loan Agreement that you signed and the Terms & Conditions thereof, you are in default of the above referenced loan AND have failed to take corrective action as detailed in the Default Notice sent to you at least 15 days ago. We hereby exercise our contractual right of Acceleration. This means that: - Your entire loan amount of principal, accrued interest and fees of £xxxx is now due. - We may notify the Credit Reporting Agency of your default on this loan. - We may sell your debt to a third-party debt purchaser who may exercise any rights available under the law in collecting the amount owed. - Interest will not accrue from this point forward. Now as I remember, ICO guidelines state accounts shouldn't be filed as in default until the account is 3 payments behind. I am now three paments behind but the default notice was sent prior to missing the third payment. Am I correct to think they have failed to follow the requirements regarding default notices? If so, as they have terminated the account, am I correct in my belief I am now only due them the arrears, and not the full balance?
  24. Hi all, I took out a loan and topped up with them in May last year... Yesterday morning I spotted 2 transactions on my online statement amounting to £664.42, this actually makes me £660 OVER my overdraft limit. I was thinking that Barclays would stop the payment as it's so far over my limit but it doesn't appear to be happening. I've spoken to barclays who said the usual thing of "speak to the company"/"we cant do anything" but the amount appears to have been honoured, even though the card to which the transaction relates was cancelled due to a fraudulent transaction.... Any Ideas how I can deal with this rapidly? Thanks guys
  25. Hi All I won't bore you with all the ins and outs of my situation at the moment, but I was suspended on full pay from my job with a Major International Parcel Carrier on the 9th July of this year. I am suspended for alleged falsifying records and lack of duty. I strongly deny these charges and have responses for all of it. I had my first investigatory meeting on the 11th July and was told I would hear from HR in due course. I then received an email requesting another meeting to be held tomorrow. I have spoken to my Union Rep and taken advice and asked for any questions to be sent to me so that I may consider them and my reply. I have been told by the Manager taking this investigation that she cannot supply the questions as they will be decided on the day. As far as I am concerned I have answered their questions fully and frankly and really do not have anymore to add. Can they do this? I loved my job and the worry is making me ill. I also filed a grievance and this has not been mentioned. My thanks for your help in advance.
