  1. Hi all, First time here so please let me know if anything in this post should be changed. Backstory: I was in Bulgaria on business in June/July and had no knowledge of my PCN before leaving (turns out my mate moved my car out of his drive into the parking area for a couple hours where I received this PCN). Upon arriving home I find two letters, one being a final reminder sent mid June by VCS and then a debt collection notice sent by ZZPS in mid July. As I was out of the country and couldn't access my mail, I had no idea any of this was happening in my absence and had no chance to appeal the ticket in the allotted 28 days. The ticket was for £100, to be reduced to £60 if paid within two weeks and is now at £160 due to the debt collection agency add on. I haven't received any other letters regarding this claim. What I've tried: I have tried to go through the various appeals process, but when searching my ticket ref on the provided websites (namely myparkingcharge.co.uk as noted at the bottom of the VCS letter and the IPC website itself) it comes back with nothing, meaning that I couldn't have appealed it regardless. I even tried POPLA, and they can't find the ticket either. After contacting an ombudsman, they suggested to complain through the companies. VCS said that it was to go through ZZPS as they now were in charge of the debt , ZZPS replied as follows: "We must inform you that you have now passed the time frame in which an appeal can be made as appeals can only be made within 28 days of the Parking Charge Notice being issued, our client maintains that all correspondence received has been actioned accordingly and that the correct procedure has been followed. The balance of £160.00 remains payable on our systems, please refer to the back of our letter for the payment options available to you. In the absence of payment this matter will be referred to solicitors to resolve and further fees may be incurred." What do I do? If none of the appeals agencies even agree that the reference number matches any ticket, has a ticket even been issued against me? The collectors are refusing to provide evidence. I am not exactly inclined to pay this "debt" until the relevant parties prove their claim. Any advice would be appreciated as I feel like I'm about to get strong armed out of £160 Attached are the letters received, along with the website response when I search the reference. Personal info along with refs blacked out for obvious reasons.
  2. Hi Guys, Just checking something out and was looking for clarification. On my Equifax report, it states that an overdraft I had with HBOS. First late date payment was July 2011, then subsequent months late and then shows as defaulted in January 2012. I'm assuming as it shows, this means no payment since June 2011. The debt appears to have then been sold to Arrow Global as they have listed the default on Equifax in January 2012. I have never once communicated with Arrow Global on this. I obviously haven't made any payments to HBOS regarding this. Today I received a letter from shoosmiths asking for payment or even a partial payment to clear the entire amount in full and final settlement. It looks like to me they are clutching at straws and this will become statute barred as of June 2017. Can you confirm if I am correct? Thanks
  3. Well old Tawnyowl is thinking of going Vegan.Or try to slowly.Anyone in the forums Vegan. I do not know that much about it, but had some Vegan soup the other day at a protest. Very nice and made me think. 57 Health Benefits of Going Vegan http://www.nursingdegree.net/blog/19/57-health-benefits-of-going-vegan/ Also made me think when I read this as old Tawny's Arteries are not what they used to be.
  4. Hi - i'd be very interested in hearing the views of some of the forum regarding an issue i've been looking into for around 2 years. It involves a piece of land that used to be free to park in, but a few years ago was changed to a Met Parking enforced zone, free, but for 2 hours. The legality of how it was originally voted for is sketchy, but a supposed consultation with 5 local shops suggested it was a good idea - no residents were consulted, and with parking terrible on the main roads, this has meant sometimes there is no option but to park and leave the car there, resulting in tickets. Over the last 2 years i have tried to find out the name of the contact at Barnet Council who organised the consultation, and who runs the contract with Met Parking. Nobody has been able to give that to me, not even with a FOI request, and in fact there was originally a debate over who the land belonged to. The Council insisted it was Barnet Homes, whilst Barnet Homes said it wasnt them. It took myself to show the land registry documentation and the council's asset register to prove it was the councils. Met Parking refuse to offer any help as to who their contact is, and I have now escalated it because i have over £1000 of parking tickets piling up. I can only assume that the contract was instigated by an individual within the council, possibly on receipt of backhanders possibly not (no liable there), who may have now left, and nobody has a clue what the story is. My premise is that the original consultation was totally inadequate, and it should have been made a residents car park, but at the moment I am waiting for the Head of the Council to revert with help if he can, other than that I'm at a loss. I'm happy to talk through the information I have with somebody, as i said, it's an interesting one, and I'm sure one of you would love to get your teeth into Thanks, Jude

  6. Hello everyone, We bought an xbox for the children in December 2014 which we're having problems with - it keeps switching off randomly. I would imagine the warranty was 12 months, so it's expired. This 'turning off' issue seems commonplace - is there any chance I'll be able to do anything under the Sale of Goods Act with Argos? I've tried with Microsoft, but after 40 minutes online chat we're barely beyond 'hi'... I'm still trying now! Any ideas?

  9. Apparently, according to a friend, you can get divorced for £60. This is apparently what her parents did. My husband and I want a divorce, there is no dispute, we don't want to fight about it, we've been separated for a while and have both met someone else. What is the cheapest and easiest way of getting a divorce? I have a form printed off the internet "Application for a decree nisi/conditional order or (judicial) separation devree/order) - it's just one page and theres the option for "undefended case" which is what seems to be the right option for us. Any advice gratefully received.
  10. Hi guys. Just bought this :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GE70-2PE-051UK-17-3-inch-Notebook/dp/B00IZFMB6I which I think is pretty high spec. For some strange reason though, it doesn't seem much quicker than my old 2GB Ram Samsung. Is there something I need to do in the settings to speed it up? Even videos I watch on Facebook seem to keep freezing. Starts up as fast as I expected. Just a bit confused. Thanks
  11. I am trying to get advice for a very good friend of mine!! its a long one so,,,,,,, In about 2006 him and his girlfriend brought a flat (shared ownership) they lived together there for about 2 years and then split, she moved out, he lived there for about a year, then they rented it for 18 months. they both met new partners so she moved back to the flat with her new bloke, and he moved in with his girlfriend. He has tried to get her to buy him out but she couldn't get the mortage, in this time they tried once to reposess the flat as she had failed to make payments to the mortage, her parents bailed it out!! However she has now split with the boyfriend and cant afford the flat!! so finally has agreed to sell it! He went to meet last night and said if he doesn't sign to say she can keep all the profit she will pull out and not sell. He has been fair and offered a 30/70 split in her favour. Clearly he wants shot of the link between them, as its causing issues with his partner and he wants no more contact, as well as this where she has bad credit he wants to be disassoicted from her as soon as possible, is there anything he can do to enforce the sale We have checked both names are on the deeds. any advice would be greatful and asap! I really feel for him, what a nasty person she has shown herself to be!
