  1. Hi everyone, First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for any advice you can offer. I have a letter in front of me, from DWF LLP on behalf of Arrow Global Limited, asking me to repay £4709.51. There's a sentence referring to previous letters they have sent, but I haven't received anything. It goes on to say "We require your proposal for repayment of the above amount. We enclose an income and expenditure questionnaire for you to complete and return with your offer of repayment within the next 7 days. Should you wish to discuss this matter please telephone our recoveries team on 01132616178. We look forward to receiving your reply during the course of the next 7 days". There's also a form enclosed asking for a detailed run-down of my income, possessions, property and the like, which I've noticed at the bottom has a section with the paragraph "On providing the above information I/we acknowledge liability for the debt outstanding and my/our offer of repayment is:"... To give you some background on me, I'm very wary of credit, loans or anything similar due to hearing stories about stuff like this. The only loans I've knowingly taken out are the finance agreements on monthly car insurance payments. I'm not overdrawn and have only ever had my current bank account. My cars are always bought cash, as is anything else I buy for the house. I have a contract phone, but it's paid up to date. I literally have no idea where this has come from. The only thing I've noticed on finding this forum (thank God!) is that people have been contacted by this company due to debts with Orange, and while I was with them, I don't know of any debt. I did receive a final bill from them after paying a final bill, but after an argument with customer services it was cancelled. I'll be honest, I know I've done nothing wrong, but I'm bricking it. Please help!
  2. Hi, Mu son had a letter from the above regarding a debt with AKTIV KAPITAL (UK) Ltd-PROGRESSIVE CREDIT LIMITED It did not state what the debt was for. So we sent a letter not acknowledging any debt. We also sent the letter regarding contact by telephone and door step visits. We sent that on the 25th February 2014 Recorded Delivery. Today 12th May 2014 we have received another letter dated 9th May 2014 with copies of the debt in question which was Aqua Credit Card. When my son had this card he did get into difficulties with paying it as he lost his job they were unhelpful about accepting reduced payments so they received no payment. Last payment made 14/7/2011 £20. They have sent copies of the Credit agreement and copies of all of his statements from when he had the card. Last statement date 11/7.12. The letter states further to your recent communication and have pleasure in enclosing a copy of Credit Agreement and detailed statement of account. We trust the position has now been clarified and require a payment and settlement proposal within 7 days in order to resolve this matter without further delay. What is the best course of action to take now. We have had no notification that they are officially in charge of this debt. Shall we write back and ask them for paperwork to say that the debt has now been passed to them. Any help please would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. Was unfortunate enough to land myself a Parking Charge Notice from Excel, for "Parking without displaying a valid ticket/permit". Usual gubbins about paying £100 if not paid in 28 days. Looking at the ticket, there's nothing filled in for the site number, which is also required for their payment slip. Would I be best off to ignore it, as has been suggested on other posts? Apologies if anyone is repeating themselves. Ta.
  4. Has anyone had any dealings with this company or know anything about them. They buy debts from banks, credit card companies and utilities but after looking at the companies house website, it seems they have many variations, from 1st Credit Finance (1) Limited and so on up to 1st Credit Finance (10) Limited, 1 st Credit (Management) Ltd (which has been dissolved. I had a Halifax credit card assigned to 1st Credit Finance (5) Limited and had a letter saying they have now changed their name to CAI Finance Limited. Edward James Intl Ltd was a previous company whom was liquidated in January 2012. Charles James Trevenen Holland is one of the directors of all these companies. What is it they are trying to do, creating all these separate companies. Something very suspect maybe?
  5. Hi All Today I got a claim form through the post from Northampton (CCBC) and I would appreciate some help with where to go next please. The Particulars of Claim are as follows: The Claimant claims payment of the overdue balance due from the Defendant under a contract between the Defendant and Lloyds TSB bank PLC dated on or about 28/02/1986 and assigned to the claimant on 31/10/2012 in the sum of £1136.82 Particulars = A/C number The Claimant is Marlin Europe II Ltd and the solicitors are Restons acting on their behalf. I have not used this account since 2007/08 and would appreciate some guidance please - any help would be appreciated. I'm almost 100% sure the entire balance is from bank charges on top of bank charges Thnx andmf Oh if I'm in the wrong place could a mod please move
  6. Hello all, I have recently viewed my Credit Report as I was declined credit on goods I wished to purchase and noticed that Gothia Limited placed a Default on my file dating 06/10/2011 to the sum of £168. Doing a little digging into this I uncovered that in my last year of university my ex-girlfriend purchased some goods from h&m in a 'pay after you have received them' type situation. The start date is listed as April 2011 which is when i assume that she had ordered the goods. I do recall receiving some (what I deemed to be) incredibly suspicious letters regarding monies to this amount owed, however I naively discarded them as spam - i genuinely did not have a clue that it was regarding a real debt. I also vaguely recall the names of various companies whilst reading on this forum: red castle (spelling?) Buckanan Clark Wells (Spelling?). I recall receiving this communication to my parents house where i currently reside - i have not been to the previous address since the year that we lived there. I have attempted to read through all of the various threads on here regarding advice on these matters and on various other websites - much to my dismay I am still rather non-the-wiser as to what I should do. Again apologies for my ignorance on the matter but i truly have no idea whether to communicate with them and attempt to pay and have it marked settled or simply wait until what i understand to be 06/10/2017 when it would drop off automatically. If i have omitted any information please do let me know and I appreciate any advice. Kind Regards
  7. Debt collection agency is chasing me for limited company debt for a company that closed about 4 years ago. They claim I was a guarantor and that the debt would have been registered with credit agencies which will affect my ability to get credit. I cannot remember but I might have signed as a guarantor and money owed relates to overdraft. Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. I would like to know whether it is beneficial to form a Ltd Company or not. Here's the situation: Myself and my wife already own a business, we rent a premises and the lease, which has just over 3 years left to run, is in our joint names. We don't have any creditors at the moment, all stock and equipment is paid for and belongs to us jointly. Would we be safer to go Ltd? Would we be able to change the name on the Non Domestic Rates and all other day to day expenses like Utility bills and suppliers to the new company (incidently we pay our suppliers in cash when we have a delivery, we DO NOT buy on account)? We know that it would be virtually impossible for us to change the lease into the Ltd Companies name, without our Landlord approving, which could be messy, so we won't even try that one. Just need some general advice really. Would we be better off keeping all the present equipment in our personal names, so that if the worst happened, we would be able to keep it? All advice in this matter would be appreciate. Cheers
  9. Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place i have only just registered Anyway my parent have recently been speaking to Cerys-Angharad Limited after a cold call and have given them details to one of their credit cards after being told they could get a large sum of money from missold PPI but would have to pay some fees up front. Should i be worried ? or is this a legitimate company ? they are not very good with technology so im doing this for them. Any help would be appreciated
  10. Hello Everyone, I got a call out of the blues from Credit solutions claiming HMRC passed on my debt to them. I quickly rang HMRC and they confirmed the information.HMRC claimed they sent letters to my previous address and that must have been the reason I didn't receive the letters about the debt. I finally agreed to a repayment agreement with them(HMRC) and they have since taken the first payment from my account, whilst the next one is due anytime soon. Recently,I got a barrage of text from CSL asking me to ring a certain James, and when I did I was told it was regarding the same debt and I told them straightaway that I have made an arrangement already with HMRC and that I have started paying off the debt.CSL then ask me to furnish them with the details of the repayment plan to which I declined and I asked them to speak to HMRC if they need such information since they originally got my details from HMRC.But they have refused to do that instead bombarding me with threatening letters . Please am I obliged to tell them the details of the repayment plan as I dont think I should do that as I do not understand why they cant confirm that with HMRC?What should I do?
  11. Hi again all I have had a lot of dealings with various debt collectors these really have reached a level beyond even mackenzie hall They have ignored 4 emails i have sent since receiving notification they have bought my debt from lending stream. They have now sent me a letter in a way replying to my email stating i revoked there right to visit my doorstep. I am paraphrasing a bit but it goes a bit like this... You are not correct that under oft rules we can only call at your home if you agree to make an appointment. The debt is not reasonably disputed or deadlocked, we are giving reasonable notice of the timing of the visit. I have had 5 letters in the 2 weeks since they have bought the debt. I am sick up to here and cant sleep or eat feeling worse than ever Please help I have not copied the original letter as previously in other cases as i have been advised by somebody on here they read the forums and it wont help me Thank you
  12. Hi, I think this it the right place to post this? So a week or so ago I receive a letter from Restons Solicitors acting on behalf of Arrow Global Limited, regarding a debt owed to HFC that was taken out in 2001. This debt in my mind is statute barred no payments have been made towards it and it was never acknowledged for a 6 year period, and it no longer appears on my credit record. This evening I get a phone call from a someone at Restons solicitors asking for payment, I told here the debt is statute barred. She said a payment was made in 2010 for £273. I told her this wasn't me and wasn't likely to be someone else. I told her I wasn't making any payment, she told me she would get further instruction from her client and the call ended there. Now I've had time to think about this supposed payment, I think I know where this figure has come from. I few years ago when checking my credit file I saw I had a CCJ on there which I think was for £273. (I can't be sure without the person who paid it for me looking at their statements). It sounds like it could have been in 2010 as well. Now when I rang up to pay this off at the time, the DRA (Not Arrow) who dealt with it had 2 debts of mine. The one that was a CCJ and the other which I now think was the HFC loan. I only paid the CCJ off, and ignored the other, as that one was not on credit file. So what I think Restons are trying to do here is claim that me paying off this unrelated debt, although it is with the same DRA is counting towards payment of the HFC loan that they are now chasing me for. Where do I stand here exactly? So I can be ready if they contact me again. Thanks.
  13. Last week I had an odd text from a company called CSL asking me to call them. I didn't. and on Saturday I received a letter from them saying that they were collecting a tax credit overpayment for HMRC. I do have a tax credit overpayment, for which I have a direct debit in place, and on which I have not defaulted. In fact I have paid a further £160 off the amount CSL is demanding. A call to HMRC confirmed that I have an up to date payment plan, and they have no record of my account being passed to CSL. I have written to CSL and HMRC said they will do the same. In the meantime I am receiving texts from CSL asking me to call them. I was pretty shocked that despite sorting out my payments I am being hassled in this way. HMRC say they are happy for me to keep paying them, so why are CSL involved? Confused, and not very happy.

  15. I am posting on behalf of a friend who suffers severe depression and cannot cope with this issue. I am very behind on things and can't remember the best course of action so would be grateful for advice. Friend has a CCJ form from MBNA/Varde/H L Legal at Northampton. The date of issue was 30th November 2012 - my friend was a little in denial so only spoke to me last night. We believe that this MBNA credit card should be subject to a PPI claim - again my friend has not got onto this - and I remember the rubbish advice I got from CAB, not CAG, when I got a CCJ and spent years fighting to get it removed even though it was paid! So, can you please advise me how my friend must now proceed and how long do they have to reply? I have some but not all paperwork here and have no idea if they got a notice of assignment from MBNA. Sorry this is scrappy but all positive advice greatfully received.
  16. received a letter a while back from Arrow Global Limited about a debt I knew nothing about but have a sneaking suspicion is a catalogue ran up in my name by ex, I fired off the prove it letter to them asking for all original documentation to do with debt and never heard a thing back, stupidly assuming they'd written it off, today a letter from Transcom comes through acting for clients Arrow Global Limited, do I fire off the prove it letter again or do I need to divulge somehow that I've been in contact with Arrow Global to prove this debt and they never did! I know DCA's just pass debts on but surely when a debt is disputed on who's it is they are under obligation to provide information and to not just pass the buck, ok ok I know....that's a stupid thought! The old PC crashed and burned, stupidly I didn't print off a written copy of the letter but I know it was one of the bog standard prove it letters from here! I'm not phoning them, they are however threatening Scotcall will door collect if I don't comply help
  17. Friend found a credit agreement from these people has a Beneficial logo in the corner . She remembers paying it off a bout 3 years ago when her husband died as advised by a financial advisor but it now transpires on looking at this that there was a sickness and redundanciy cover. Who does she need to claim against tried HSBC and sent copy of the agreement and they keep asking for sort code and account number. We done an SAR on her bank to see when the last payment was made. She went into the bank and they were just useless so and SAR was the best option. Who do we need to send to for SAR on Sterling CRedit ????
  18. Hi everyone, can you tell me where to begin with my problem. I took out a bank loan about a year ago with Barclays for £15k. I started off well, paying on time. Then my relationship with my partner ended and I was left to deal with the debt alone (it was only in my name). I have since had many problems tackling my debts left behind, including bailiffs and threat of eviction. Today I received the following letter from CSL Dear ..... IMPORTANT NOTICE Our client has informed us that the above debt is unpaid. As specialist DEBT COLLECTORS, we have now been asked to recover the outstanding balance. Failure to pay this amount IMMEDIATELY may result in one or more of the following:- 1. DOORSTEP VISIT - Your account may be referred to Power2Contact, to visit your address to discuss your circumstances and agree a suitable repayment plan. 2. DEBT SALE - Should this action be necessary "Barclays" will no longer deal with your account and the new debt owner will be responsible for any action taken to recover the debt. To avoid any of the above action you need to pay the above outstanding balance by return or alternatively you must telephone us to discuss arrangements for repayment. Failure to make payment or contact us to make arrangements will lead to further action. Please call us on 0208 763 4514 within 48 hours. Could you please advise what steps I should take. The most I can afford at present is £40.00 per month. Thanks
  19. Hi, I had my appeal for ESA turned down and having lived off savings for a few months have decided I need to claim. I cannot go through the whole medical/ appeal process again so will try JSA. Do you have to wait 6 weeks before receiving payment? On the direct gov website all it says is payment is made from 3 days after a claim is made. Is this correct?
  20. Several months ago I was asked to assist a small business owner who had signed a contract with Phoenix Business Agents Limited, a company that offers to sell your business for a fee. The business owner had paid a deposit of £1000 and agreed to pay £6500 if they managed to sell his business in 6 months. He was told that if they failed in the time period he could request a full refund. After six months of no interest from buyers and no real evidence of this companies efforts to promote he withdrew from the contract in writing. The problem came when he looked more closely at the contract. The contract is by OFT guidance, very unfair. It states in complex terms that if you cancel in the first six months you will pay £3000 but in a further clause in small print it states that if you cancel after the six months you still pay £3000. This company have the deal nicely put together. If you don't cancel then they have sole sellers rights and get to keep your £1000 deposit - so your fully locked in. After posting a on few web sites I have had a number of owners contacting me who have either fallen into the trap already or have managed to avoid it by reading the emails. My research has found that this company are a franchise covering the whole of the UK and therefore all my contacts are dealing with different company directors. It would be really good if we could get a further web entry on this site for those who are searching for what is rather limited info on this company. The only work this company have to do is get you to sign their contract. I have a court case coming up against one of the franchise companies in the next few weeks and can post contracts and other material after that date.
  21. hi,I am new to the site so thought i would put this on the welcome forum see how it gets on, the thing is 7 yr ago i was declared bankrupt then i have been discharged after awhile. i have had no credit what so ever since the bankruptcy and all my debts were written of with the bankruptcy, i have recently moved to a new place and out of the blue 1st credit limited have sent me this letter asking me to get into contact with them for personal reasons and to phone one number if i am the name on the letter which i am and another if i'm not, should i contact these people as it has been 7 yr since my bankruptcy, i have read that some people say contact them and others say don't bother, this isn't helping me at all as i have recently been put on antidepressants and counseling for personal reasons..I thought i was picking up a bit but this has knocked me for six again what should i do about these people.i have no credit now not even a catalogue, should i phone them and see what they want or ignore the letter, like some other people have been told...
  22. This morning i have just recieved a letter from advantis credit limited. The letter states that "theit client" has instructed advantis to undertake debt recovery action against me. There client is "lowell group" this is a debt i have let get buried quite some time. The actual debt is from a shop direct catalogue from some time ago, but can't remember the exact details. The letter goes on to say " if we do not hear from you within 7 days they may take further action against me" then the letter goes on to say we'll apply for a county court judgement and it will harm my credit in the future. Can someone give me a bit of advice on what to do with these? they have started phoning me up but only leaving a message as i'm never really in to answer the phone. I know the next time they ring and i answer the phone i should tell them not to phone and only contact me through letter. can anyone direct me to what letter i should send back to them? by reading through the forum i assume i can claim back charges from shop direct, not sure what charges are on there but... i know there is quite a few. this is the first letter from advantis, i have had letters from lowell but i've always just binned them. (they never contacted me by the phone, just through letter) Help is appreciated.
  23. Hi, Just wondered if anyone had any dealings with ARCEurope Limited. I have been getting letters from them in respect of a Nationwide Flex Account, which I used in 2009 - 2010 the account had an overdraft on it, which whilst I was in the overdraft limit NW reduced by £100 then started charging me for being over the overdraft at £20 a time. I have had this passed from 4 different agencies and now with ARCEurope. I can't afford to pay the amount of £247 and I have received a letter today stating a CCJ has been prepared against me and CAN be issues in Northampton. If the matter is passed to our Solicitors for issue, our client will claim the following....... more blurp, a nd then at the end it says, if you ignore this letter we may pass this matter to our solicitors to issue the claim without further notice. I can probably offer to pay £5 - £10 a month, but no more than that Any thoughts or suggestions.
  24. After a couple of successes where I had irrefutable paperwork (Loan docs etc), I'm now turning to the harder cases. NB More details of wins to follow when other issues outstanding with that provider resolved. This is on a card account, commenced in say 1995 (details obscured for obvious reasons). Have a run of say 12 statements in 1996 showing PPI each month. Balance was never cleared - modest / minimum payments made. Core balance c £500 say. Have a further run of statements from 2000 (similar number). However, by then the balance has more than trebled and core of £1,600, PPI shown each time until it appears account defaulted late 2000 when PPI stops but interest continues and don't use card notes appear on statement. At this time still making modest / minimum payments. Account was settled in full with the aid of a consol loan from another provider in 2001 - and can prove final amount paid. SAR has revealed virtually nothing bar account opening date, total number and value of purchases, total of interest charged etc. My question is how to present a claim, what I can claim. An account reconstruction is out - and I'm also uncertain of total PPI charges levied due to lack of info. I'm happy that mis-selling reasons are valid. It is solely the mechanics I'm interested in. Thanks
  25. hi just recevied my limited capability for work questionaire form, can anyone tell me when i fill form in and send it back ,how long it takes for atos to get in touch with me for my dreaded medical
