  1. hi I have had a lengthy phone call with Occupational Health who said i have high stress and high anxiety levels, at the moment so i have been signed off stress - 'not fit to work' for 2 weeks minimum as the doctor will re-assess me in 2 weeks time. My employer has now asked me to attend a stage 2 absence meeting ( as i have previous absence for stress at work and at home), during this period that i am off on sick leave. So my question is simply.. is this a reasonable request from my employer and do i therefore have to attend the meeting? please help me, your knowledge and experience will be greatly appreciated on this matter. thanks you..
  2. Hi, a couple of times I've been called (on 'private number') by men claiming to be from HMRC and they quickly qualify it by saying they're from a certain address. They usually have a forceful tone (which immediately puts me on cautionary mode) and claim have sent an email (and clarify the email address) and say that I've done nothing about it. Because the email doesn't come. Ostensibly it's about a REFUND. A wonderful refund! Lots of cash! How COULD I not have returned their non-existent paperwork! Am I bonkers? They know my address and certain details... I assume many do, due to the internet. Once it worried me as they knew I was at work (working sounds behind me) so if they were [problem]mers, could have quickly sussed house was empty (which it wasn't and they would've had charming surprise, if burglars) But either way does anyone know what people like this seek to gain? Besides hooking up with men on the phone?
  3. The press are reporting a crackdown on nuisance calls with ever larger fines for the transgressors, such as PPI, onlime marketing etc. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2967040/Will-FINALLY-end-nightmare-nuisance-calls-New-law-make-easier-hit-firms-500-000-fines.html https://www.politicshome.com/home-affairs/articles/story/crackdown-nuisance-calls http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-2865158/Britain-s-one-billion-nuisance-calls-face-crackdown-task-force-warns.html As DCAs engage in constant calls and texts even after being told in writing only, by letter I wonder if they can be snared in this trap, Arrow, Lowell, Muckhall Snotcall are you worried? No I thought not.

  5. I received a superb telephone call yesterday from cabot, and it went like this... Cabot: Hello is that mr Sev? Me : Yes, who is this? Cabot: It's Citibank - er, I mean Cabot Financial, we own your Citiba.. Me : I know, what would you like to know? Cabot: Can you confirm your date of birth and postcode for security Me : Sure, it's blah blah blah... Cabot: Thankyou. We've currently got you down as being on an arrangement with us for the sum of £blah. I was wondering if we can look to increase this at all? Me : Not really, as I don't have a lot of kob certainty at the moment and I'm not going to commit to anything until the economic situation clears. Cabot: well, if you wanted to settle this we could make this very attractive, and offer you a substantial discount anything up to 20% Me : That's very kind, but I really don't have the means otherwise, i'd have called you a long time back. Cabot: Well, as it stands Mr Sev, your current debt at your current repayment will take 25 years to pay off, we could come to a payment arrangement for £95 pm which will clear it in 5 years. Me : Sorry, but as I said, I don't have the means. That's why you and I are even talking. Cabot: Yes, I understand that. Perhaps we could interest you in a loan to settle this? Me : I don't think so, you've already defaulted me on my credit record, as have all my creditors. What makes you think that I can afford or want a loan when I can't afford to pay what I've already got owing? Cabot: Oh, OK, how about relatives or frieds, could they not lend you any money? Me : er... let me think.... no. Cabot: Well could you stretch to a 10% increase, it's only 2 pounds. Me : I probably might, but I'm not commiting to anything at the moment. Cabot: OK, well i'll send out the paperwork, to confirm and just to let you know if you miss a payment there will be charges and late interest fees... Me : Send what you like, but i'm not confirming anything at he moment as I don't know if i'll even have a job at christmas. Cabot: Well we need to get this debt moving and i'll give you a call in 6 months to see how your circumstances are doing. In the mean time, perhaps you could ask your family or friends for money, or consider our loan service. If you have an unexpected windfall We'd make the settlement offer very attractive. Me : Ok, if I win the lottery you'll be the first to know. Thanks. Cabot: Goodbye. Me : *hangs up* Is the lift actually going to the top floor with this lot?
  6. I have an ISE appliance which was purchased from them directly last year. The machine comes with a 10 year warranty and suffice to say it is a very expensive machine at £900. Within half a year of owning it I had to call out an engineer to fix a fault. Again, 2 months after that, the same fault plus another warranted a further call out. In March I made a call out for an intermittent, but serious problem. As luck would have it the engineer couldn't simulate the problem. I did, however take a video of the problem after his visit. Now I have received an invoice from ISE for the callout with a letter saying that since no fault was found, it is not covered by the warranty and I am liable to pay it. The letter continued to say that until the invoice is settled in full, no further repairs shall be entertained under the warranty. I have a little experience with consumer rights, and to me this does not smell right. Firstly, just because the engineer couldn't find the fault at the time, it doesn't mean there isn't a problem. When I called in the fault I made it clear that it was intermittent. Also, if the machine has needed 3 call outs within it's first year, this seems to indicate something more serious, especially one of this caliber. Secondly, the fact that there is an invoice to pay should have no effect to the warranty. The warranty is a binding agreement or contract with its Terms and Conditions clearly laid out on the back of it. There is nothing within those T&C's that indicate anything about unpaid invoices. I have put this in an email and a letter to ISE, stating that should they not cancel the invoice and sort the machine out, I will seek legal action with regards to the warranty and attempt to claim under goods not fit for purpose under SOGA. Can anyone comment as to whether I am incorrect with any of the above?
  7. Hello Everyone, Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a bi polar depressive with panic and aniexty disorders, I self harm and feel sucidial daily after suffering several yrs of sexual abuse at the hands of family "friends" and have been in the ESA/ATOS/DWP Hell for 5yrs Had my medical approx 1.5 weeks ago and this afternoon my daughter recieved a text saying this: " We will contact you to discuss the decision on your ESA Claim @ blah blah blah time" Currently in WRAG struggling to cope with all there demands and if this is a chuck of call it will be all over for me, because I can't fight this anymore this whole process makes me feel even worse about myself i'm on the edge of self destruction. Could anyone shed any light on this/or had a similar experience Thank you
  8. Has anyone else experienced a problem with international transfer security questions? it looks to me as if the call centre in India is making up they own questions without reference to the actual customer. The information is not coming from the customer - it appears to be gleaned from credit databases I would question the legality of the this. It also makes it nigh-on impossible to get the security questions right - especially as the information they have is INCORRECT.
  9. Help please! I have been receiving numerous letters from One Call in the name of Judgement Order Bailiff. Then I just received a "Letter before Court Action" citing Civil procedure Rules and the Practice Direction for Pre Action Conduct. That was about a dispute related of so-called "outstanding account", which I do not recognize and they tried to charge on my credit card (but I successfully got it charged back). The OCL Solicitors apparently is on the Law Society list (at least found it on their website). Should I be worried? My main concern will they really take count action against me, which I have no time to deal with. If count action is really imminent, I may rather settle it. I refuse to pay and ignore them on principle. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, R
  10. I am a private house hold and have an ex-directory private landlines telephone with BT. I am 64 years of age with health problems. I do not run a business from home and this telephone number has been with me since 1966. On the night of the 24th October I started to get telephone calls from mid-night onwards which got picked up by the answer machine that I have no sooner the answer machine started the calls were cut off after giving a fax signal and then the process was repeated again up to seven or eight times call after call then after a twenty minute break it started again. This was kept up all night long. When I dialed 1471 to find out who it was it said caller withheld the number. However, after five days and nights of this nightmare harassment, I managed to get the two telephone numbers that the calls were made from. They are 01 452 378 483 and also from 01202 406 090. I contacted BT and asked them to check these two numbers as I did not want to dial myself in case they were some soft of international [problem]. They told me the numbers were for Barclays bank and it was Barclay's bank that were making these endless harassment calls to my number. I then called the first number and I wast old by a very rude Indian man that it was Barclay's Call center in New Deli and that I was placed on what he called a Hit List. and he told me that I can not be removed from the Hit List. I then had to make seval calls to Barclay bank to be told on several occassions after being given a complaint number that they will look into the matter which takes three days and mean while I will just have to put up with whatever they dish out such as these calls all night long. I had five days of this from the 24th until the 28th October all night and all day. I was not able to use the telephone most of the time as they also managed to block the line making it unusable each time they made a series of these calls as the phone line would go dead for a while. I am ill with Ostio Arthurits plus heart problems as I had a heart attack last year due to stress and this was the last thing I needed as I also had lost my elderly aunt who passed away at the end of August. I have now been told that Barclays have put a stop to the calls however, I had a further two days of calls on the 13th and 14th of November when it started up again after being told that they had taken me off the list. Barclays have just contacted me and made me an offer of Fifty Pounds which I refused for all this harassment they then made an offer of Two Hundred pounds which happens to be twenty pounds per night and twenty pounds per day for all this aggression. I have told them I will not accept that sum of money and I will now taken this further to the Ombudsman. I find Barclays the most outrageous, and ruthless bank that could not care a dam for their customers and I hope that this helps any one that reads it to stay away from Barclays as they are the most rude and unhelpful bank I have ever encountered. When asked a very simple question to why did they do this to me they said that they have no answer to this question and they were really not concerned about health situation.
  11. Once again the letter from my work provider telling me a telephone interview has been arranged and that I must be available for it. I know I do not have to participate as I am in the support group, but it is criminal how they hound people (we look forward to seeing you again, and helping you find the right job). How can they 'see' me over the telephone. It's so exhausting keep up with all of this, failed PIP medical, lost mortgage relief form, now these people. You get to the point of just wanting it ALL to end.
  12. Hi all, new(ish) to the forum so apologies if there are stickies I've not had time to read. This is quite a long one but basically EE (obviously including T-Mobile and Orange) in my area (Ilfracombe, North Devon) have had ongoing problems with rubbishy signal since mid June. That's issue #1. Issue #2 is that a few months back my account was erroneously changed from my rolling SIM-only contract to PAYG (apparently they had a call from "me" then they admitted it was someone else and the details had been entered onto the wrong account) wishing to change from contract to PAYG. Also the account name had been changed. I believe this to be a serious data protection breach. I found this out when I received a text saying I'd run out of credit. After some faffing about on the phone they admitted the error and gave me £5 credit whilst they tried to sort it out. After switching me back (1 week later) they recommended a put a password on my account (I did). All sorted you'd think.... nope. A few weeks later I had my bill through. It was for £249.49! After working out the charges on the itemised bill I could see I had been charged for all the calls etc made during the period I was wrongly on PAYG. Ouch. After a number of broken promises regarding callbacks, they finally 'froze' the disputed amount (minus what I actually DID owe) then said someone would contact me again regarding actually getting the amount officially wiped off. I called them not long after to moan (yet again) about the pathetic signal I'd been getting, only to be told that the amount HAD in fact been wiped off just that I hadn't been informed. After demanding to speak to a team leader because - in all honesty - I was ****ed off that nobody had told me, they offered to remove my line rental cost for the next 6 months (plus around £17 I actually did owe at the time) because of THAT matter (not the signal matter - which, by the way, has been affecting many others locally). I even had to find out about my own grandmother's death via Facebook because family members who live in London could not get hold of me! After a few more calls (each with them giving different reasons for the dodgy signal, some even denying it completely) they told me there were issues with 2 masts locally and that someone would call me with updates.... guess what? This didn't happen. I then called them again and was told there'd be no updates on the engineer's visit to the mast until mid November and because I could get signal outside of my hometown they were still providing me with a service. Disgustingly I told them I rarely leave my town due to health issues, I was (not in quite so few words) told that it was "tough". The call centre operative again spoke to a team leader and was told that because a) I receive service outside my locality and b) I was already receiving a discount, there was nothing they could do. This signal issue is not a case of slightly bad signal, my phone regularly cuts out and tells me I'm not on a registered network etc. The service has become so unusable that I decided to withhold payment for 2 months which is approximately £17. I tried to make a phone call yesterday only to find out my outgoing calls have been barred due to non-payment. Basically I'd like some advice as to what to do next, because I feel there is no justification for them charging me for a service I'm not receiving. I've researched sending a "letter of deadlock" which I will promptly do if it's the next appropriate step in my case. I know forum users often say NOT to withhold payment and claim it back at a later date but I'm having to top-up a PAYG phone on another network so I've a phone for emergencies, so cannot afford to pay what is in essence a bill for scotch mist! Hopefully that makes sense, and thanks in advance.
  13. Hi Team, I bought Xperia Z2 in March 2014 which is when it came out. I have been a HTC user prior to that. Phone build quality and functions impressed me for first few weeks and then it started dropping calls. Being Techie, i have done factory restore, latest software update, Tried that SIM into different phone to provde its not SIM problem and etc. And finally it was a phone fault. Went to Vodafone shop with the problem as Intermiatan network dropping while call is going.. Vodafone Team logged this fault and sent it to Repair Centre which i think was their Repair Centre - not Sony's. Phone came back in a week Time and Report was written saying - the reported problem has been fixed and latest software has been upgraded ! Being satisfied with that service i took the phone back and then put back my own stuff on it- like emails and etc etc. Started using it from then and again it gave the same problme of Network Dropping in Oct early days. This time, to shows the evidence i have captured few screenshots using the third party Application so that someone can seriously investigate on the problem. Pleasee see my attachment here. Unfortunatelty Shop Team cant send mye evidence to repair team as there is no any mechanism to send and they says they mentioned my fault on the repair case and repair team will see it and then they will surely fix it. Phone came back within 3 days and as usual i started using is- put my all data on it and again it started giving me same problem - network dropping intermitantly. now i know if i got to the shop -same story will repert - phone will go in repair and then i will need to transfer all my data, phone will come back with some fix report and possibly fault will go forevere. Being on 24 month contract, this is absolutely embarassing and i do not want to spend my whole life taking my data backup - sending this phone in repair every month - wait for repair - put my data back - and then same problem. I tried this method twice already within first 6 months of my contract. I am looking for the solution either from below which Vodafone team is not ageering with. - Allow me to break the contract and go for any different phone as Sony Xperia Z2 i got no trust at all. Basic all drop problem is not at all acceptable for any phone . Especially a premium type phone - Take this device back and offeer a Brand new Xperia Z2 if you think that Z2 hasnt got know problem but possibly only my phone has got some problem. Kindly note, all the test i did was in the area where i get full network coverage so do not blame the network. Also i tried the same SIM in different phone various times to prove its not a SIM fault or network Fault. Its definately a Device Fault. Please help to get this resolved.
  14. The Able Group - Unable to fix anything & unable to refund... I need to vent a bit about this emergency call out plumbing service. I booked them to investigate hot water flushing back into a cold water storage tank. They sent an obviously unexperienced plumber, who ignored the requested job, & fitted a ball cock instead. The tank flooded again. They sent another plumber who turned down a thermostat, & ignored the original job. The tank flooded again. They billed more than was agreed to my credit card. They refused to refund & I'm having to request money back via chargeback & go through small claims / trading standards. Terrible customer service, terrible quality tradesmen, terrible experience.
  15. Hello All I need help I booked a holiday with a company and they now want to charge me for a name amendment as per the company my partner who book the holiday using my phone and my details (email etc) booked a holiday for us whilst i was present with her she spelt our names correctly and the agency is saying that it was spelt incorrectly hence we need to pay the charge now cut the story short - when we brought this to agency's attention, they were very rude, sent a call recording from their system which sounds snipped and edited we complaint and told the company that we suspect the call is edited etc Now the thing is I have a copy of teh call in my phone (i have this app in my phone which records all incoming and outgoing calls from this phone) and in this recording our names are spelt crystal clear and correct !! but the agency people are saying we have amended this recording to 'suit us' I mean its a mere phone how on earth I would do that i do wnat to complaint to someone higher up like regulator, but dont know where i stand and how much weight this recording in my phone holds. The holiday company has been less than helpful, being really belligerent, accused us of editing our phone recording and threatened of involving police to which we said by all means they should do as its about principle and honesty. the business then backed off and said its a civil matter !! where do i stand with this as i m feeling really cheated and hurt because of thsi behaviors and dont want them to get away with this i look forward for your replies
  16. Not sure if I have posted in the right place! Just found a letter from this company that have charged my elderly mother £121 for nuisance call prevention (she bought a little box from a shop and couldn't get it to work-related so called the helpline) . It doesn't work!!! I have already added her to the free Service- is it TPS? Are they [problematic]? What rights do we have to get a refund? Funnily enough they aren't answering their phone!!!! Many thanks
  17. I have just received a phone call from a guy calling himself Harry, he has a pronounced "Asian" accent. Harry claims to be a specialist advisor at Microsoft and has information that my computer is at risk. Had these before but this time my wife answered and Harry used her first name and asked for me by my first name. Number with held of course.
  18. Had a call on my mobile today asking for my partner (as it is her phone really) purporting to come from HSBC. The number displayed as only '207335'. Asian sounding lady would not discuss anything with me. Anyone else had such a call? Fred
  19. in brief, cancelled insurance policy with one call at end of cover, re-insured with another company but one call took another payment,c complained and they refunded it back to me. I also asked them to send me a letter saying that no monies is owed to them, which they did. now getting letters from judgement order listings saying I have an outstanding balance for the same amount they refunded to me. now do I ask judgement order to take me to court for this amount ! then pull the letter out of the hat. then bang in the costs/exspences for my day out, also they say they have put on my credit file that they are chasing this alleged debt from me, as this is incorrect can I sue them for the deformation of my credit file. this was over a year ago that this acc was terminated.
  20. I got a call from a company claiming to be solicitors (Clinch Solicitors) dealing in personal injury claims. The guy knew that i had had a minor accident 2 years ago (and I was at fault), the date of the accident and that I had my wife and son in the car with me at the time. He said my wife and son were allocated a payment for discomfort as they were with me in the car and if they don't claim it, after 2.5 years (3 weeks from now), the insurance company will claim it back. Now I am totally confused why my insurer at the time did not tell me about this!!! At one hand I do not mind having some extra money but I am scared if this company could cause any sort of damage (financial) by taking DOB details for example. I have explained to the guy that at the time of accident, no one was injured but he insisted the payments are for the discomfort caused by the accident to the passengers i had in the car at the time. Can anyone please help advise what to do. Should I go on and allow them to claim the money or is there any risk in doing so for me and my wife?
  21. Hello everyone I’m hoping for some general opinions and advice I work in a busy public service centre that administers advice and benefits to clients. I think you have guessed ?. Just recently, I phoned a customer because I had not received an important document that should have delivered to me. From the start of the call, he kept interrupting which did not allow me to fully explain the problem. I said to him that ‘he was not allowing me to get a word in edgeways’. I was not rude. He kept dominating the phone call and about 3 minutes into the call, he declared that he was recording the call. He did not say why or for what purpose he was recording and I did not consent to recording it nor do I consent to him sharing the recording with other people. He kept, almost demanding to ask for a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to his question : ‘Do you not believe that I delivered the document to your offices’? I was put on the spot by his approach which I found unreasonable. I had reason to believe that he had not delivered the legal document because it was not in the file. Unfortunately in this case, the dockument may have been left in a communial file that several other people should check, incuding me, However, I remember it being a stressful day. I was covering for 2 other people and I may have made an error too but i cannot be sure. If I had not challenged the customer, I could have been accused of processing an invalid document ( expired date ) However I chose to say that I disbelieved him but he never gave me the chance to finish the sentence. It was only toward the end of the call that I was able to tell him that I cannot confirm what has happened one way or the other so i have doubt and I do not intend to disbelieve but it is my duty to investigate and put right the problem. Therefore i feel that I had helped to rephrase my initial phrase. He kept hanging on to, quote 'i called him a liar ', which I feel is not the full picture as I did put the record straight with him. He complained to management. Asked for CCTV evidence and demanded an apology. Apparently he complained about someone else too for being rude. My Manager has not asked me for full details of the conversation I had with this client. He simply asked if I had disbelieved the client. This pathetic situation has left feeling that I would like to move on to another job, partly because of the management style but also facing a few clients who seem bent on causing problems. I have a 15 Year unblemished record, apart from a period of an ongoing chronic medical condition, my appraisal have been good. I have been called liar, f xxx c xxxxx buy customers and other colleagues numerous times over the Years too and these people are still around and now I stand accused of disbelieving a customer. I could think of a greater crime !!!!! Thanks for your advice tony
  22. a little dickie bird just sent me a msg saying Advantis DCA are now using a series of mobile phones to try and get around debtors not responding to landline calls and letters. it took several exchanges to find out they were a DCA the caller just asked for the debtor by their first name saying they were an old school friend. he smelt a rat as he could here call centre chatter in the back ground. 07891891162 was the number others to follow or add them here if you know others dx siteteam.
  23. Have looked for anything posted on this company couldn't find it so posted here. I recently took out a car insurance with this company using a comparitive site. Nightmare! Purchased a car with arranged seven day insurance cover. 30th Dec-5th Jan. Looking for cover from 6th I received my proposal form from One Call Insurance which stated that although it was noted that I had another vehicle that I didn't have another insurance. Called them, informed of the inaccuracy "that's fine, no problem just sign". I said, "Don't sign anything that's not correct". They said, "so you want it altered". You'll have to phone another department, can't put you through". Not happy. Next day full payment taken from my account. I havn't signed the proposal form or produced any required documentation. Phone again, this was a repetition of earlier conversation so said, "Cancel please". Ignored. NIGHTMARE, NIGHTMARE, NIGHTMARE!!!! Check the website for cancellation procedure. 14 day cooling off but will lose £49.00 for the paperwork. Have to telephone for form to cancel. Call first request Form, madness. One Call closed until Monday. Try sending an email. I was covered to drive the car as had a temporary 7 day cover note. Arranged insurance via RAC to continue from this date. Monday-phone One Call. Repeat of previous conversations. Form please, so you want to cancel, yes please. There willl be a £49.00 cancellation fee - I hold, phone goes dead. Phone Ombudsman noted complaint passing on to One Call suggest calling the insurer. Very helpful lady in fact wonderful lady. "I'll try and sort it out for you, ring you back". One hour later, "sorry, you were right, I've got a head ache. No sense at all. Tried explaining that they have never had you on cover. Now they want a copy of RAC from 5th. Told them temporary cover until 6th. Wouldn't listen. All you said was written on their computer but simply would not budge one inch". Well it looks like there is going to be a fight to get a full refund and I will of course now be claiming expenses. Any one else had this expeience, any tips welcomed. TAG
  24. I've just had a telephone call from 01706833772, the guy on the other end sounded like he was from a foreign call centre. He asked was I Miss * to which I reluctantly said I was. He then blasted in to say he was from Rossendales and he was calling regarding an outstanding debt and wanted me to confirm my details for data protection. I told him I have no debt and will not be confirming any details over the phone, I then hung up. I'm fuming that whoever it is has managed to get my mobile number and I have no idea what they are ringing for. I'm now left stressed out and worrying that some big bully are going to come harassing me on the doorstep. I have no idea what they want. Any advice greatly received.
