1. I recently applied for a job which required a credit check and was rejected for the position - turns out i have a default on my file which has a date of October but the last payment date is Feb 2008 from what i can see on the account. I have had no contact from the company (La Redoute) and I am aware of the Scottish time bar of 5 years for pursuing of debt, however, I have a question about this. If i write to the company with regards to the time bar, will this be removed from my credit file or will it remain for the 6 years as per English law? The debt shows as reporting until April 2014 but with this being my only default and the rest of my credit file being fine it's costing me a job and potentially others going forward, in the current climate this is not ideal obviously. Any advice and help would be appreciated, thanks.
2. Hi there everyone, I have recently started trying to repair my credit file and wrote to all the lenders who defaulted me asking them to give me a full and final settlement fee. I received a response from Barclaycard to day to say they sold off my debt which they defaulted at £1198 to Lowell Portfolio for £745 in 2010 and told me to contact them to settle this. I also noticed a default of £745 by Lowell Portfolio and wrote to them at the same time. Putting 2 and 2 together I gather that these dafualts are for the same debt. Please can anyone advise me of the legitimacy of this? Also what can I do to about them as I am willing to settle with an offer? If I do this with Lowell will they both show the debt as settled? Please help! Many thanks Izzy
3. I have just checked my credit report on Noddle and i have 5 old debts, it has red D's on every month up until now. the original default dates range from 2006 until 2007. I have attached an example.. Is this right?? These are all from companies like lowells, cabot etc..
4. After signing up to checkmyfile.com I started looking into the Defaults that I have. Two of them I am repaying to Lowell every month, yet they still update my file every month with the dreaded D for default, even though I am repaying the debt.. My question regarding them is: Shouldn't they be putting on my file somewhere that I am repaying it? Then I come to the one that has the Blue S for satisfied with a zero balance owing... Am I allowed to request that this is now removed from my file? As for the other two, is there anything I can do to have these removed? I have never received any info regarding these two debts as it was when I lived in Northern Ireland a few years back and they kinda got forgotten about by me (not proud of it) but I've never had any dealings with anyone about them so I was wondering if I could try and contest them or something? Many thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to give Simon
5. I have been dealing with Buchannan, Clark and Wells regarding 2 disputed British Gas accounts that they say are under my name. Both accounts were not known by me and it may be that my ex landlord set it up under my name without my knowledge. British Gas refused to listen and basically said that I am responsible as I lived at the address during the supply dates. today both defaults appeared on my credit report. But, this was not all that appeared... 2 other defaults appeared today for an address several miles away. This address is just a couple of doors away from 2 others I had to get removed in 2011. Needless to say, it appears I have been a victim of identity fraud. Now, what in the world do I do? Can these be removed? How do I do it? Please, any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.
6. hi, could anyone help me with this question please. My wife has been on a monthly repayment plan with cl finance after recieving a ccj, she has never missed a payment , a couple of days ago she checked her credit file and noticed she had been defaulted every month for the last eighteen months! Can they do this and if not what can we do. thanks
7. Hi, I am new on here and would really appreciate some help/advice if possible. I have recently checked my credit file and noticed I have 2 defaults on there. I knew I had these debts years ago but thought it has been longer than 6 years. I am sure it is to be honest. I have a £407.00 debt with Lowell financial limited and another £209.00 with Marlin financial services, the first debt was with T-Mobile over 6 years back I am almost positive but on my credit file it shows Lowell have defaulted me from 2008 which is atleast 2 years after missing payments with T-Mobile. My 2nd debt is similar in that it was with Clydesdale bank also over 6 years ago but have a default from Marlin in 2010, so why are these defaults appearing from these debt collectors years later than they should? I am not sure exactly how this all works but it seems I should have been defaulted shortly after missing a few payments with the original companies and not years later by these debt collectors. Please correct me if I am wrong in any way. These are small debts in essence and are now causing me problems as wanting to get a mortgage soon, all my finances have been back on track for some time and feel its a harsh punishment for so little amounts. But does this sound legit? What can I do if anything? Just so annoyed as these defaults have only been placed 2 years ago for one of them and 4 years ago for the other when surely should have been defaulted alot longer ago, no? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
8. Hello I have just joined and been taking a look around thought i would ask for some advice. Some background information. I had a business account with Orange. When i took another phone out they put it on a seperate account meaning two DD dates etc. Anyway the accounts become where i owed money. I was paying off odd bits here and there still. Orange passed the debt onto an agency who i then paid and settled with. All my Orange accounts have now been paid and are completely settled. Anyway i applied for a Experian check a few months ago that says Orange had logged a default aginst my account. When i called orange they advised me to email their credit referal team. I left this for a few months as i had other issues ongoing. I then decided to email Orange regarding this and they came back with the standard "our records are right and will stand for 6 years". Ive looked around a bit and thought i will do another credit check to see how everything sits now its all paid. To my shock Orange have placed 2!!! defaults now one from 08/2012 and 2nd from 09/2012. The first one shows a balance underneath of £114 and the second one shows account balance of £0 ??? Can anyone advise on what i can do from here. I have tried the sympathy route. But now im in even more of a mess because they have logged 2 on my account Any help is much much appreciated. Thankyou
9. Do items automaticall drop off your credit report after 6 years or do you have to contact the credit reference agency
10. Hi All, I currently am dealing with lloyds/1st credit over my bank account and loan which I defaulted on in 2008. I checked my credit file and basically I have 2 defaults off lloyds and now 1st credit have added another 2 for the same accounts loyds tsb current account default date 16/04/08 lloyds loan default date 16/04/08 1ST CREDIT LIMITED Current Account Default 21/04/2008 1ST CREDIT LIMITED Loan Default 21/04/2008 I am aware 1st credit were assigned the debt on 6/8/12, I pretty sure I cant have duplicate defaults so who do I send a letter to to get them removed is it lloyds or 1st credit, also are there any template letters I could use, Iv emailed experian but they have just fobbed me off. cheers Wato
11. Okay, this is a long one, so here goes, I'll try and get to the point of each default asap. A few years ago (2008), I lost a job, and fell behind with my debts, I have pics of each debt on my credit file with Experian, so will explain each one as I go along. I'll start with: * Welcome Finance - Initially took out a loan for 2k around 2006. Suspect it had PPI attached. Anyway, in 2008 when I fell behind, and after I had a load of charges attached for phantom visits and letters etc.., I eventually contacted their office. Their method of resolution was to refinance the loan into what seemed like a new agreement (hiding something maybe?), again at 2k I believe. Below is a pic of my Experian record for Welcome
12. Hello I have 2 x Satisfied defaults on my credit file registered 2010 settled 2012 both are marked as satisfied. They have the wrong date of birth on them( just one day out). They were accounts taken out in my name by my ex wife. I do not want to go down the fraud route but the accounts were not opened by me have incorrect information. After i got divorced i noticed all the debt I had been left in due to my ex hiding bills and not paying stuff etc.. . I have asked the company JD Williams to remove these defaults and explained the situation they will not remove them. These are the last 2 items of adverse i need to remove before I apply for a mortgage I have now gone down the route of if they are my defaults where is the credit agreement and I have sent the necessary letter requesting copies of the original agreements. If as I suspect they cannot provide these documents can I ask them to remove the defaults? without a credit agreement how can there be a default. Also worth noting I settled the defaults earlier this year thinking I was doing the right thing. Any advice? Thanks
13. Hi, tonight I registered myself and my husband with Noddle. I was stunned to find that both of us have incorrect dates registered on our files with regard to when the defaults were originally registered. I have launched disputes with each and everyone giving correct dates and also correcting the amount the creditors say we owe to the correct ones. I can prove all of this because we have been with Payplan - me since 2006 and my husband since 2004. I have been following several threads on here and have been dealing with my husband's creditors with some success. Although Arden are being particularly difficult at the moment. My question is, in order to get these defaults removed from the credit files, will I have to contact each and every CRA and do I have to print off payment history to correct the entries. These DCA are scheming peoples aren't they? They can't even add up their own flaming figures correctly. It's shocking. Thank you
14. hi there just wondering if there any point paying defaults on creditfile various debts of various years 1-5 - if i do pay will it improve my credit worthiness or will not matter or not pay get hounded for 6 years by leeches if default has been issued that damage done paid or not looks bad on me ?
15. Hi, I have a question I'm hoping someone could answer. I have a loan I defaulted on in 2008 ~£9000 I fell into hard times, new baby, splitting up with partner and losing my job all within a few months of each other. I want to get the cleared as I am in a slightly better position now, I could probably afford upto £100 a month. However I want to get this off my credit file, I appreciate the fact that it will drop off after 6 years, but if I were to start paying them now, would they update my file to AP? It would take approx 7 years to pay off and from what I understand there would then be further 6 year wait for the AP status to drop off, is that correct? I'm basically fed up of living under a cloud of debt I incurred when I split up with a partner years back and would like to try and buy my own house at some point, i'm paying more in rent than I would be on a mortgage and I have had enough - getting close to 30 now and have nothing to show for the past 10 years of living on my own and away from family apart from a pile of letters from DCA's and a small mouth to feed.
16. Hi, I'm a new user here and will appreciate if fellow forum members can share their understanding regards having default removed from their Creedit Files.. I have a Good Credit Report & Score bar two defaults(one from 3G(£93 balance on account as at 2010) & Barclays(£250 as at 2006); My Credit report was updated with the" Default Status" for both accounts and the debts have now been passed onto collections(Lowell) from £G and Barclays which has now increased to £375 & £862 accorddingly. I contacted Lowell (Collection Company) and I'm informed to pay reduced amount on each account to clear the outstanding bills or pay in Full. I advised Lowell that the amount they are chasing me for is different from amount owed the company but Im been told that is NOW THE BALANCE OF THE ACCOUNT!! I need advise please on the following; 1. Can 3G/Lowell increase outstanding balance from £93 to £375 without advising the customer how the figures are derived. 2. Can Barclays/Lowell increase outstanding balance from £250 to £862 without advising the customer how the figures are derived. 3. Is it advisable to PAY the "Reduced Amount" or "PAY IN FULL"- what are the impacts please... 4. Once Payment is paid, what is the procedure to get this Default removed on my account? 5. Finally, how long will it take for my credit File be updated? Many Thanks for your time in reading this post, advise & comments please.
17. I agreed a full and final settlement with 1st Credit Limited, but they have not set my account from default to satisfied, can someone confirm how i can get them to mark this as satisfied? Also i have sent off a CPUTR2008 to HFO Services in July and they said they would reply within 30 days. It has now been two months and this is still set as default on my account, and they have not replied since, can someone advise as to what to do next?
18. I had a credit card with Virgin (MBNA) I got into financial difficulties and had to agree reduced payments, these have been made religiously by standing order and never missed for over 2 years, in fact I have increased the monthly payment myself without any prompting from them. For reasons best known to themselves MBNA have now assigned the debt to Moorgate Britannia, MBNA have marked their default as satisfied and Moorgate have registered another, albeit with the same dates. So having stuck to my agreed payment plan and in fact increased the payments off my own bat to try an clear the debt as quickly as possible, I now have 2 defaults for the same debt, is this allowed and if not what can I do about it?
19. So I have 1 loan with quickquid but I extended it. As far as I'm aware I still only have 1 loan. Looking at my report I have 1 loan: and another: Surely I should only have 1 default.
20. Hi, I have an issue regarding defaults. Basically for about a year i have been trying to get a loan and mobile phone contracts i was getting refused all the time i didnt know why because in the past i was always getting a loan when i needed it and i have never defaulted on payments and always been good with my repayments. Im not to clued on with the whole credit score and credit report i only recently found out you can actually check all this information, so i made an account with credit expert and gained access to my online report. There are 4 defaults on my credit file which at first i didnt know nothing about three are from Lowell portfolio for mobile contracts and one is from 02, i have never defaulted on any mobile contracts!! After carefully reading the credit report i noticed something, when you read the details of the default it gives the date of birth, the date of birth for all the defaults isnt my date of birth i then realised it was my brothers date of birth, i asked and he did say he had contracts and didnt pay!! These defaults have been placed on my credit file by mistake and its really frustrated me because i was desperate for a loan a few months back for my wedding and got refused when i shouldnt have and had to settle for a low budget wedding. What i would like to know is how can i get these defaults removed and i was wondering if i could try and get some compensation for the companies putting the defaults on my credit file when they shouldnt have, the date of births are completely different how could they possibly have put them on my file it doesnt make sense. If anyone can help please reply, thank you in advance.
21. I was looking at my credit file with regards to another debt i have had a lot of help with on here and discovered a default i did not recognise from quickbridge, who i have never heard of before now. i have a default from another company (gothica) which is for a wonga loan i took out and for some reason my final payment on my payment plan passed to them. The amounts for both these defaults is identical and im assuming that they are for the same loan. so my question is what do i do? i have a similar problem with multipile companies chasing me for a quick quid debt but i have never been chased by quick bridge. I am due to be paid on monday and had planned to pay this debt in full as it is only 90 pounds thats outstanding on it. should i contact wonga directly? or send quick bridge a letter saying that i have never heard of them and how can i owe them money? I really wish i had never got involved in payday loans! Edit to add: in the payment history bit on my file for the quick bridge one it also says that i was on a debt management plan for two months, which i was not. should i be worried about this?
22. I've browsed this forum LOADS in the past but never taken the time to join until now I've managed to get all my finances improved and slowly rebuilding my credit, my credit card limit has gone from £200 to £1200 in less than 7 months and I'm doing well to manage it however today I went looking at my Credit Report and there are a few things I would like to try and remove. While I had issues with debt I have paid everything off and the accounts are marked as Default / Satisfied I have 6 in total all under £200 and range from 2008-2010 and 1 for 2011 id like to try and get these removed if possible? I understand the steps however I would like to send a "nice" letter first to see if that gets me anywhere but I'm unsure how to word it or what to put in? I can't really see a default template that I could use does anyone have any advice? Most are with Lowell and one with British Gas, the reason for this is that I would like to buy another home in 12months time so would like to get my report as "clean" as I possibly can. Thanks in advance
23. Hi guys I have a couple of small debts ( They've both still got 2/3 years before they'll drop off the credit file and whilst I'm more than happy to play the waiting game as there's no agreements to base any court action on, the missus is dropping little hints about buying a house! If I were to offer a F&F "goodwill" gesture I'm assuming they'll remain on my account for 6 years from date of payment as a settled/satisfied default which doesn't do me much good - i'm better off just dodging the house-buying question for 2/3 years until they drop off my file. Has anyone had any success with adding a clause in a F&F settlement offer that the default must be removed from all credit reference agency files? Can it be done? Thanks BSBS.
24. Hi all, I stupidly used Quickquid for payday loans last year and defaulted on the payments. I am now being chased by ARC for the outstanding money and two defaults have been registered against me on callcredit. I am happy to pay the money back, I was wondering if there is any likelihood of being able to get the defaults removed? The two defaults are for £160 and £660. They were defaulted very quickly after they started: for the £660 (from callcredit report): Account opened 12/10/11 Account defaulted 09/01/12 for the £160: Account opened 07/09/2011 Account defaulted 12/12/2011 Both debts still appear on callcredit as owned by Quickquid, but when I spoke to quickquid they said the debt has been passed to ARC, the american at quickquid didnt seem to understand when I was asking if ARC own the debt now or if they are acting as agents for quickquid. As I understand it third party collectors are more likely to strike a deal to remove the defaults on full payment?? I will do anything possible to get the default notices removed as my credit record was just getting back on track when I did this, and this will now ruin my credit for the next 6 years (well just over 5 now). Any Advice?
25. Hi All, I went bankrupt November 2008, i included all my debts and everything went fine and i was discharged in November 2009. I had a loan with Lloyds Tsb for about £6000 which was included in my bankruptcy and this was marked as satisfied/settled on my credit files. However i recently checked my credit files to do a clean up and discovered that there was a company on my credit file, TTI SPC, which i had never heard of but the account number and amount owed were the same as my Lloyds tsb loan. I contacted Lloyds who have said that their credit file was correct and that they had passed my account over to Groves who wont contact me for payments, etc. I never received any correspondance from Groves or TTI SPC. They have defaulted me from November 2008 to now. Anyone had any dealings with TTI SPC? Thanks.
