  1. Hi was hoping someone could give me advice on this. I had a payday loan with cash genie last year they took the money out of my bank without my permission. The loan was for 150 they took payments of 240 and 195. hsbc refunded the 240 but not the 195 which i have no problems with as i owed that. the problem i have is both amounts have been shown as settled on my noddle report until last month where the amount of 240 has reappeared. the 240 was the charges they added as the intial loan was for 150. My question is how do i remove it from my credit report as its now showing as defaulted again? as i was told i only owe the intial amount and one months interest on payday loans but unsure on that. any help is greatly appreciated.
  2. Howdi Folks Cash Converters have defaulted me for a loan of £500 with the total cost standing at £1378. Attached is a picture removing all personal info but itll help establish my point. Loan was taken on in Jan 2012 and Im not sure if i remember making a payment as this is when everything got really sticky personally. Now the default should have been reasonably within 6 months to 9 months, so if the first payment was due in Feb and wasnt made then for me a default should have been issued in Aug 2012 ish. However they have defaulted me in August 2013?!?!? Do you think thats reasonable? Im not sure how to sort this. Finally I might challenge them to give me a full breakdown of charges as im not convinced it should be that much [ATTACH]50291[/ATTACH]
  3. I've had a text and email from Cash Choice today regarding my balance with them. I've already agreed to payment agreement in Feb that started this month at £20 a month but the email states no payment has been made despite their best (HA!) efforts to ensure this happened: I've clear evidence my payment left my account on the 5th of March using FPS to them with the details provided in a text message from their company. As it's been 15 days since the payment has been made I'm surprised they've not added this to my account. Should I go ahead and ignore this email, they are only reporting on my Noddle CRA that I owe £330 not the higher amount above. Would appreciate any advice you folks could render. StripedTiger
  4. I've defaulted on a loan with the above company after finding myself running very low on funds on a monthly basis. I had an arrangement in place for £51 a month but because of a repeated issue with them taking more than this a month I cancelled their payment authority on my account, despite this they still took payment every month which my bank reclaimed from them. At no point has CC/UA called me, emailed or sent me a letter to discuss this. I contacted them at the start of this month and made them aware that my circumstances were not good and I needed to make a much lower payment. I've provided them with a financial statement show what's going on and they've accepted it, however when I asked for my balance instead of it being £400 as I expected the amount had been risen to £609. They advised this was interested added on a daily basis from the default being declared on my account, I can make the payment I've discussed but I don't feel its right I have to pay over 1.5 times what I owe them. Is there anything I can do to get this reduced, I tried to argue that once an agreement was breached interest couldn't be added to it but they refused to listen.
  5. Hi all I brought my daughter a Blackberry phone for £79 from Cash Convertors in April using a debit card. Fast forward 31/2 months and i get a dawn raid from the old bill telling me the phone is reported stolen. Luckily i had the receipt so they didn't cart me off but they took the phone. I rang Cash Convertors who put a droid on the phone telling me that the 60 day warranty was up but if i brought all paperwork in they would investigate the matter? When i asked there policy on refunding for goods that are found to be stolen she said she cannot discuss this with me?? The shop is quite a distance and i don't want to waste any more time if they are just going to flannel me and not refund my cash. They seem to be hiding behind a warranty that's over and to say they will investigate leads me to believe i will get the old letter saying sorry but tough luck. So i want to pursue this further because it cannot be right that CC can sell stolen goods then wriggle out of any responsibility. When the police turned up i thought someone had died and then i was treated like a crook until i hunted down the receipt. Any help appreciated
  6. I went into Menkind, a gift shop, in Westfield London a couple of weeks ago. At the till I paid for two items, but just as I walked away I had a hunch that I had paid a good deal more than I should have. I looked at the receipt and saw that a third item had been added. The cash desk was clutter-free so it was an odd mistake to make. I turned round and spoke to the cashier. He denied any knowledge of putting the item through and then passed me to a girl next to him who then rather insultingly asked to check the bag he just packed. She spoke to me rather offhandedly as she asked me to return my card for a 'refund' - it would be refunded within 7 working days. At this point I realised that I needed to have the money refunded in cash. It was Christmas in two days and I couldn't afford to lose anything out of my account till maybe January 2. They refused to refund the amount in cash, and I responded by asking why should their accounting systems be kept in order over mine? The manager on duty was now nearby and affirmed this was impossible. I calmly stood my ground, though I didn't really know if I had a right to retrieve my money - I just felt I would surely have some rights. Meanwhile a queue was building up and a guy at the top started shouting at me 'it's only 8 quid'. Things started to escalate from there as I told him to shut up and then found others in the line joining in, together with various shop assistants! Eventually everyone was shouting at me and two shopping centre security guards came in, spoke to the manager who told them I was insisting on a 'cash refund' and hilariously, really, they called the police. I was very polite to them and said that was great, since I had nothing to worry about. When the police arrived I told them what had happened, and of course they said it's a civil matter and they couldn't deal with it (as if I had asked for them to be called!). One of the security guards then clocked that I was the victim rather than the shop and tried to get the cashiers to give cash, but eventually gave up and promised to take me to make a complaint against the shop if I would just hand over my card and have the amount refunded. He did lead me to an information desk. The girls on it had no forms for complaints so I had to scrawl it on a 'customer survey form'. They promised to see it through but I have never heard back. I'm sure many people reading this may be laughing about the risible amount of 8 quid that I needed back. I actually earn quite good money and have no debts, but was totally maxed out like many others on credit cards and my bank account with nothing coming in till 2 January. I don't even have to justify it, but I actually really needed that 8 quid available for travel on the Friday otherwise I couldn't get back from where I was going for Christmas, and I didn't see why I shouldn't have it back immediately if they had taken it off my card for nothing. It would be good to know if I was in my rights to ask for the cash, before I now just make a complaint straight to the chain's head office. I would also point out that the hysteria from the staff was very odd, particularly as I was only speaking forcefully against the shouting. I therefore do feel I caught out the cashiers stealing rather than making a mistake. It's one of the oldest tricks, running other stuff through when the shop is packed with people so you are hustled out quickly before you realise. Is there any point me telling the HQ of my suspicions?
  7. I couldnt believe I was seeing this when I was watching the news !! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2432593/Gang-deliberately-crashed-bus-500-000-cash-crash-[problem]-guilty-fraud.html
  8. I sent my phone to these on 07/10/13 offered me £58.00 for my Blackberry and then changed it to £18.10 wear and tear.. Utter crap. I have rang, sent letters (recorded) So i think the best thing to do is a CCJ after reading other peoples comments. I know its going cost more than the phone but its the principle. I even logged it with Haringey Council and the online fraud team. I would suggest EVERYONE reports it to be honest so they can be shut down. I dont know how they can let them carry on trading
  9. Hopefully this is an easy one for the brains on here.... As I am sure some of you know NPower have been having problems with their magical new computer system... This meant not taking payments from me. Then it meant me building up a £500 or so debit So they took it upon themselves to set me up a payment plan for £50 on a seperate direct debit with no call or advice to myself or from myself. On the assumption this is wrong...where do I stand? Doesn't the direct debit thing they always read to you over the phone stop this kind of thing happening? thanks in advance...
  10. Hi, I have had the displeasure of dealing with cash4phones, i was provisionally offered £206 for my iPhone 4s 64GB which at the time was £50 above the majority of other phone companies. I then sent my phone away and i was shocked to received any offer i believe was £72 at the time, my phone had general wear and tear with a year old phone and was fully functionally with the the back casing slightly loose so i was expected a lower figure. I then declined the offer and paid the return fee instantly. This was then followed up with a email complaint about the ridiculous offer they made and on the 24th October i received a response advising they had revised there offer and amended this to £150 & additional £8.95 refund of the return fee, i accepted this offer and was informed on the 28th October i wound receive the full payment within 72 working hours and im still waiting for the payment. I have contacted watchdog and have had no further response to a further 3 emails i have sent on the same email chain and i am really considering going to small claims court about this matter. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Martin
  11. Afternoon All, I've got my credit file this afternoon and discovered a default by Cash Choice UK. I have a payday loan with them in 2010 and agreed a repayment plan which they took by debit card before stopping. I havent heard anything since, until finding a default for an outstanding amount of £430.00. I'm trying to write to them to try object and get the default removed but cant find the address. Does anyone have the address and have anyone got any advice/tips of anything i can add to my compliant to give it a push?
  12. Hi I'm after some advice please. usual Story never received a payment from cash4phones. Did a money claim online and have since enforced a judgement. No response or payment but to issue a warrant is another £100! I have since found out I should have made the claim against C4P trading Ltd. Is there any point in me pursuing this any future and does anyone know if I can change the name to C4p Ltd or is it too late?
  13. Can someone help with this Today cash genie took out £170 from my partners bank account for an unpaid loan last year. The money was actually mine and was two weeks benefit money that I had asked the dwp put into her account as I do not have one and they will no longer pay by Giro Cheque. Natwest bank won't act and the loan company will not reply to my E-mails. Where legally do I stand ?. Thank you
  14. Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me deal with the weird dates which barclays apply to pretty much EVERY transaction on my account. Whether I transfer from one account to another (both at the same branch) they only show on my account statement a day later than I actually made the transactions. Whenever I make a card payment (VISA Debit), the transactions only show up between 3-5 days later, sometimes, a weeks worth of transactions all of different days all get batch processed all in one day. Now I do understand that card payments can show up later on your statement, but no matter how many times I've asked Barclays to put the transaction date or some form of reference i.e. authorisation ID etc... on the statement, they tell me that 'what you get is what you get' and that's not going to change. Because of this, I often have to sit and explain to various people why my receipts don't tie up with my statements. Come month-end when I reconcile my bank account with my receipts, it can take a few days to wade through the lot.... I have been to other banks, (pretty much all of them), and they too have different dates on the statements, but under the description they have a a 'transaction date' or 'actioned date', sometimes even a full date AND time stamp. Is it not within my right to get that sort of information from my bank without having to send a SAR/DSAR off? I know they have the figures, as when I call up telbanking, they can pretty much tell me where and when things were paid for or done. Is there any plausible reason why they should be omitting this important data? As far as I know, when it boils down to receipts, you can't get more picky about dates and times when it comes to accounting, whether personal or business :-/ Some advice, pointers would be handy Cheers, A
  15. Won a PPI claim with LLOYDS for my son and without having to go to the FOS however letter from them stated cheque by 28 days no cheque and now its with the PPI back office as cheque is lost rang their help line got someone in the Phillipines who states no time line for money being paid but will be paid electronicaly when it finally is ??? 16. Hi, I've just bought an item of furniture from an ebay private seller. It was advertised as "used but as good as new with no marks". I got a friend to collect it as it was a 6 hour round trip and I just couldn't get there. I was horrified when I saw the state of the table - clearly scratched & marked. I expected some wear & tear as its vintage, however because of the distance, I only bought it because of the way she described it. It was paid cash on collection. I understand by ebay that they can only ask her to refund me but they can't make her. I'm also supposed to be responsible for the return costs. Is this really the case? is there anything I can do outside of ebay, like small claims court (providing I can obtain her surname - I do have her address & mobile telephone number). I'm rather angry that she has tried to blame the condition of the table on my friend who collected it and hasn't offered me a refund. I've opened a case with ebay but wanted to get some advice/tips on dealing with this. Thanks
  17. Hi, I was recently involved in what I believe was a crash for cash collision. Although there was only very minor damage to my car, which I didn't wish make a claim for, I immediately informed my insurance company and made them fully aware. My car has been photographed by my insurance company and I have also made a statement. I were informed that if this went to court it could take up to 18 months to reach that point. I am due to renew my car insurance next month and this issue is not going to be resolved by then. I usually renew on a comparison site but I'm not sure what I should enter when asked "have you made any claims/had any incidents in last 5 years" as this also asks if my no claims bonus has been affected. If this incident investigation is still ongoing will my NCB have been affected? Any advice/info appreciated
  18. A man targeted by marketing companies is making money from cold calls with his own higher-rate phone number. In November 2011 Lee Beaumont paid £10 plus VAT to set up his personal 0871 line - so to call him now costs 10p, from which he receives 7p. The Leeds businessman told BBC Radio 4's You and Yours programme that the line had so far made £300. Phone Pay Plus, which regulates premium numbers, said it strongly discouraged people from adopting the idea. Mr Beaumont came up with the plan when he grew sick of calls offering to help him reclaim payment protection insurance (PPI), or install solar panels. He said: "I don't use my normal Leeds number for anyone but my friends and family." Once he had set up the 0871 line, every time a bank, gas or electricity supplier asked him for his details online, he submitted it as his contact number. He added he was "very honest" and the companies did ask why he had a such a number. He told the programme he replied: "Because I'm getting annoyed with PPI phone calls when I'm trying to watch Coronation Street so I'd rather make 10p a minute." He said almost all of the companies he dealt with were happy to use it and if they refused he asked them to email. Warning The number of calls received by Mr Beaumont has fallen from between 20 and 30 a month to just 13 last month. Because he works from home, Mr Beaumont has been able to increase his revenue by keeping cold callers talking - asking for more details about their services. He admitted the scheme had changed his attitude, saying: "I want cold calls", and that he had moved on to encouraging companies to make contact. After a recent problem with his online shopping, he declined to call an 0845 number but posted his number on Twitter in the knowledge that the number could be picked up by marketing companies. But the premium number regulator Phone Pay Plus says the public should think twice before setting up their own lines. They say phone line providers must meet consumer protection standards, which include transparency, fairness and complaint handling, which would mean clearly setting out the cost of each call to any organisation that rang. They told You and Yours: "Premium rate numbers are not designed to be used in this way and we would strongly discourage any listeners from adopting this idea, as they will be liable under our code for any breaches and subsequent fines that result." A survey for charity Citizens Advice found that two-thirds of those asked had received unwanted calls, texts, emails or letters about PPI mis-selling. More than half said that they had been contacted more than 10 times in the past year. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23869462

  20. Hi. I bid on an item on Cash Converters web site and received an e-mail telling me my bid had been accepted. The store was local to me but as I was away from home at that time, I had to travel 95 miles to pay and collect it. The web site informed me that I had 24 hours in which to pay for the item. (An ipad) I arrived at the store about 2 hours 10 minutes into the 24 hours. I went to pay for the item to be told "Oh, sorry. You are too late, we have already sold it". After a fraught 20 minutes "Debate"....which involved the manager, I left the store without my item and traveled the 95 miles back to join my family.....empty handed. I e-mail their head office and was told "we had an IT glitch, sorry." I bid on another similar item at the previously agreed price but that bid was rejected. I then managed to purchase a similar ipad from another branch of Cash Converters for an additional 39 quid plus 10 quid post and packing. Any one any ideas whereI stand? I have e-mail head office and said that I will be claiming the additional casts for the item plus 180 miles travel from then with no response. Will I be safe going to small claims court. I am on a qualifying benefit and so there should be no charge to me to take out the claim.
  21. Motorists are being warned about a new insurance [problem] where criminals flash their lights to let other drivers out of a junction, then crash into them on purpose. Anti-fraud experts are calling it "flash-for-cash". The gangs tend to target new, smarter vehicles or vulnerable road users, including older people and women with children in the car. The [problem] is costing insurers hundreds of millions of pounds every year. It is a new tactic for an already well established crime, called "crash for cash", where criminals slam on the brakes for no reason so that the victim drives into the back of their car. More...
  22. hi i could do with some help and advice please. I bought a freeview box and recorder from cash converters in Bangor. The bow is second hand. I the box does not work so i took it back to the shop the next day expecting an apology and exchange or refund I have lost the receipt but do have a bank statement showing that i bought the box from them and the box still has all its price labels on. they have refused a refund or to help in any way. I told them the time of the purchase and the member of staff who sold it and even the till the transaction was done on, all to no avail. when i queried if the goods were fit for purpose and that i had proof of purchase they said it was their policy to not give refunds or assistance without a receipt.
  23. After joining CAG I realise DCAs have cash cowed me for years. I'm about to CCA them. Can I claim back payments I've made if they can't produce an original CCA?
  24. This is to do with the Bedroom Tax but more importantly the Discretionary Housing Payment allocation to councils. From The Evening Times this is the link: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/city-demands-answers-over-bedroom-tax-cash-134331n.21946342 Where the article mentions COSLA they are the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities and their link is: http://www.cosla.gov.uk/ if you want more information on them.
  25. Hi, Cashgenie keep rolling over my account automatically. On 25/07/2012 I applied for a £150 loan, which came with a £45 interest charge for a total of £195 repayable. Since then, I have paid: 25/08/2012: £45 25/09/2012: £45 25/10/2012: £45 25/11/2012: £45 25/12/2012: £45 25/01/2013: £45 25/02/2013: £45 25/03/2013: £45 25/04/2013: £45 That's £405! What's the best way of breaking this cycle? They've had more than enough money from me now, but I'd rather not end up with another default on my credit file.
