  1. Hi I bought a VIP ticket for a concert in Germany. The ticket was shipped over and Royal Mail decided to send it back to Germany. It has been held in Germany for several months and it doesn't look like it will be shipped back. I paid for the ticket through Paypal. However, the 45 day limit has passed and they don't allow refunds on concert tickets anyway. I have asked the company I bought the ticket from if I can have a refund and they have told me that if the ticket isn't shipped back in time, they will place my name on the guest list on the day of the concert. There is obviously some risk involved here as the company selling the tickets were an online shop, making them a third party. So when I get there, I might find that my name isn't on the guest list at all. The ticket might also be delivered while I am in Germany, which will mean that my name won't be on the guest list and I won't have access to the ticket. I have asked if being on the guest list will give me the same treatment as if I had a VIP ticket and based on their response, it doesn't look like it will be the case. The VIP ticket comes with two benefits: 1. Priority entry. If you are first in the VIP line, you will be first in the concert. 2. Chance to meet the artist. I have asked if I will still get both of these without the VIP ticket. I have been told that if I am first in line, I will have to explain the situation once I am inside and they will then look into it. While this is happening, the people who were behind me in the queue will be entering ahead of me. Depending on how long it takes them to sort out, people who only paid for GA tickets might get in ahead of me too. They completely ignored my question where I asked if I would still get to meet the artist. I also sent another e-mail where I only asked if I would still get to meet the artist and, unlike the other e-mails where I received a prompt reply, I didn't receive a reply at all. It doesn't look like I will get to meet the artist without the ticket. They have told me that according to EU directives resp. § 312b German Civil Code (BGB) does not apply, so any sale for concert tickets with any regular ticket outlet in EU is final. Is there anything I can do about this to get a refund? At the end of the day, I haven't received the ticket and their alternative offer isn't what I paid for.
  2. I know this has been posted on Local authority & Traffic offences thread but big implications for private land enforcement - CCTV cameras who catch and send out automatic tickets to 'offenders' are to be banned. Interesting. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2981794/10-minute-let-avoid-parking-ticket-month-new-law-let-overstay-meter-without-fine.html People power works!!!!
  3. Last night (no doubt in preparation of Barry Beavis's Court of Appeal case in a few days times) the RAC Foundation issued a 64 page statement from a highly respected QC questioning the legality of private parking tickets. The document is stunning and is a 'must read' for anyone with an interest in these dreadful private parking tickets. http://www.racfoundation.org/assets/rac_foundation/content/downloadables/RACF_Private_Parking_Public_Concern_John_de_Waal_Jo_Abbott_February_2015.pdf
  4. Train companies are being forced to offer commuters the cheapest rail fares possible, following criticism that passengers can pay an excess of £100 when purchasing tickets at self-service machines instead of paying at a ticket counter. The changes, which are expected to be implemented by March, are aimed at ending the anomaly in prices available at the counter, where staff have access to a complex database of fares, discounts and promotions, and the more limited options in a self-service machines. Some machines have been found to promote expensive fares, bury cheaper options and do not apply discounts for groups or families, leading to a difference in train prices of up to £100, according to the Daily Telegraph. As a first step, they must label all self-service machines by March to warn passengers they could save money by using the counter service. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/rail-bosses-told-to-show-passengers-how-to-get-cheapest-tickets-9952838.html
  5. Hi, Just after christmas I received 8 Parking tickets due to parking on a supermarket car park during the day, it's across the road from where I work. The car park was free but it seems that Asda contracted Smart Parking at the end of November and my car has been picked up via ANPR. I received most of these PCN notices together delivered all on one day and then several more the day after. In my defense I visit this Asda all the time on every day that my car is parked there, it is convenient as being so close and are not supermarkets supposed to be for that very reason, convenience of shopping.... My visits to the store are throughout the day from the morning, sometimes mid morning and then again once or twice in the afternoon and the last visit around 5.00pm when I finish work. We also use this store for our company stationery/misc. items that I also visit the supermarket for on a regular basis. Unfortunately I have no receipts but I do have proof of all the transactions at the supermarket on my bank statements as I usually pay with one of my bank cards, sometimes cash unfortunately. The amount of spending at this Asda on my bank statements (for the last 3 months) show in excess of £300 a month and some months more. My other main argument is that the first contravention stated on one of the PCN's was on the 26/11/14. However, SP did not dispatch that letter until the 23/12/14 (dated on PCN) and I did not receive it until the 29/12/14. Therefore, how many people keep their receipts for a month after purchasing groceries at the supermarket. If I purchased a bag of a perishable item such as fruit for example at the end of November I would have no reason to still retain the receipt until the end of December as that date had obviously passed the expiry date for consumption on the product. There were not any SP signs displayed anywhere in the car park before xmas that I could see and other people did not notice them also. On the 5th of January when I returned to work they were on every lamp post. Finally, this particular car park has always been free, it has never had barriers or any ticket machine for parking and still does not, it employs the 2 hour limit on loyal customers. If the fee charged by SP should only reflect the loss to the trader then if the car park is free then surely my liability to SM/Walmart should be nil as how would Asda prove that the car park was at full capacity on the dates of contraventions and my parking arrangement cost them money. I would be very grateful for any advice on this matter please and will of course answer any questions very truthfully. Kind regards,
  6. Im due to see a concert next week tickets were purchased a year ago, on an old bank card for an account i no longer have. I contacted the arena today and was told they had not sent them yet and would do so this weekend. I told them this was not good enough as i go away next week and will not be back toll the night of the concert, They told me i can collect them with the bank card i used to pay, i made clear i did not have that anymore as the account was closed down and the card was cut up, they told me there is nothing they can do, I explained that i was told i would get the tickets today as it a week till the concert and on there website it states tickets will be received 2 weeks before the date and i made clear i had called last week and was assured they would be here today. Im wondering if there is any way i can get the tickets with out the bank card, i hold other id but they have refused to issue them to me personally and will only post them out via special delivery. Im so upset at this matter
  7. Well here we are folks, things are currently changing and the solution on how to deal with IPC windscreen tickets is here. Currently not needed for BPA windscreen tickets but the solution to the problem is here and it is now time for everyone to embrace it. No longer can the advice on any forum be to "wait for the NTK". This advice is a dead duck. The Problem The way IPC companies construct their signs (and the way in which the IPC operate their appeals process means its night on impossible to beat them at the IPC bar the obvious slam dunk reason (which are few and far between). Now VCS who have joined the IPC makes the issue worse and their windscreen tickets account for around 60% of their tickets issued. The Law legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/...dule/4/enacted 2. “current address for service” means— (a)in the case of the keeper, an address which is either— (i)an address at which documents relating to civil proceedings could properly be served on the person concerned under Civil Procedure Rules; or (ii)the keeper’s registered address (if there is one); or (b)in the case of the driver, an address at which the driver for the time being resides or can conveniently be contacted; The solution A service address is the answer to the problems we currently have with the IPC. This really is such a simple answer and making use of the law to our advantage whilst beating the parking companies at their own game. They wanted this law so they most certainly have got it. It just needs people on here to embrace it and actually see that's its a winner. What do the BPA/IPC Parking companies think about this? They all know it is happening and there is nothing they can do about it. How do I know this?, It was pointed out by Devere after the court case yesterday that certain addresses are "appearing all the time with people admitting to be the driver", and the is nothing they can do about it because real addresses are being used, and they CANNOT go to the DVLA as they no longer have reasonable cause to do so since they have been a perfectly serviceable address. Devere stated that all these people can not possibly live at one address and that "its not fair, or right is it" "it must be some kind of internet letter. So writing about it on here is not a problem as they all know anyway. How well thought through is this? This has been looked into and tested over the last couple of months with a variety of operators and has been proven to work. ---------------------------------------- Happy to answer anyone's questions on this. There is already starting to develop a network of service addresses in the UK. Again if you want to know more about this then please contact me by PM. Its important we move on from previous advice that whilst has been very good advice no longer works for the IPC and the is no point in any one kidding themselves that it is going to work. With VCS now part of the IPC (and others sure to follow) then this is only going to ramp up the number of tickets issued. This scheme will also work with ANPR tickets where someone is naming a driver and you would be surprised that quite high proportion of people who are registered keepers are NOT the driver. Finally I am backing this scheme to work. Should GPEOL become a dead duck in the near future then this is going to be an absolute bomb against companies such as UKCPS
  8. Hi All, In desperate need of some help and advice! I arrived to my car this morning to be greeted by 3 PCNs. The back story is that I parked my car on Thursday evening at the back of my permit bay and did not realise that the back wheel was outside of the bay and on a single yellow line. I then left London and did not return until this morning. As far as I can see there are no notices or signage detailing the hours for the single yellow line. The times of the parking tickets are 09.58 on Friday, 08.48 on Saturday and 08.47 on Monday morning. It seems unfair that I am being charged 3 times for the same offence (if it is an offence as there are no guidelines on the single yellow line). Has anyone encountered a similar issue before - I need to appeal as I am not in the position to fork out £195 Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Shauna
  9. Hi! Most of the time I buy 7 day NWM Travelcards for my local travel needs which are always clearly printed, but there are odd days where I have had to buy an individual nBus etc., usually because I'm skint a few days before pay-day! How do I stand if I receive an atrociously faint ticket that can't be read? NX use a machine based on the old "Settright" Type of hand-wound ticket machine, adapted for power operation, that prints using a purple inked ribbon, some of which are so dried up that I've received what is virtually a blank white strip of paper! How would I deal with this if I was to be challenged by one of NX's inspectors, especially if it was the second or third bus I'd got on?
  10. Hello guys i wonder if you could help me. I work at a hospital that has the misfortune of employing NCP to run the parking and have now retrieved 5 tickets (Monday to Friday) for parking in a parking bay near to the department that i work in. I have now received 5 notice to keepers demanding £60 a time that's £300 ! for 5 days parking. i have checked the entrance to the site and there is no signs stating that it is pay and display car park or that parking is in any way restricted (the bay that i parked in did have short stay painted on the ground next to it but no indication of how long they consider short stay to be). having checked the other two entrances to the site (they are 3)only 1 which was not the one i used has any sort of signage stating that you must pay and display. any advice would be gratefully received. thank you mark
  11. I parked in a residents permit bay on an sunday in Islington when it was free and went to work. Unfortunately I rarely drive to work and forgot I'd brought the car and headed straight for the tube after work! Duh! It wasn't until Saturday that I realised my mistake and went back to retrieve the car. I had three PCN's on the windshield which I paid within a week at the discount rate. However I have just recieved 2 NTO's for tickets that weren't there! How am I supposed to pay them if they aren't even there? Just to be clear: there were 5 days of fineable parking, but there were only 3 tickets present that were dated for the last 3 days. The NTO's are for tickets supposedly issued on the first 2 days but seem to have been removed. Also is there a maximum number of tickets that can be received in this situation? Any advise would be most welcome.

  13. I received a letter off courts in September for a final notice owing 180, this was the first time I heard about the offence. Tried getting in touch with the court by phone to find out what it was for but could not get in touch so sent a letter and received no reply. Then last week I had a high court enforcement officers card through the door saying I owed 480. It was only then that I found out that the fine was for parking tickets, I did not recognize the registration number that was given to me and knew that I had never owned a vehicle with the said reg no. I have spoke to the courts and they have said the vehicle was registered in my name so that was enough for them although I have never signed anything for that vehicle, I put the reg no into a internet website and the vehicle comes up as a Peugeot 405 again something which i have never owned. I was also banned from driving at the said time of the tickets and sold the vehicle which I had five months previously. I really don't know were I stand in this situation and any feedback would be much appreciated. Thankyou
  14. Hi, Does anyone know what the procedure is if you miss the 'named' train due to a late connection? I frequently book in advance to visit relatives on SWT and the train from Woking has to be the one stated on the ticket but I can catch any connection to Woking. The last time I travelled the connection was a bit late and I only made the booked train by a few minutes rather than the 15 it was meant to be. I just wondered where I stood if I had missed the train?
  15. More than 5,000 parking tickets will be refunded after "confusing" signs led motorists to park in bays meant for taxis, Westminster City Council said. The refunds, worth about £278,000, are for tickets incurred on dual bays along Oxendon Street, Jermyn Street and Conduit Street between May 2011 and November 2013. The signs put up in 2011 say charges apply between 08:30 and 18:30, but do not state that the dual bays become dedicated taxi ranks after 18:30. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24950723 Details of how to apply for a refund are on Westminster's website here: http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/transportandstreets/parking/dual-use-bay-parking-ticket-refund/
  16. Are revenue protection officers legally entitled to check tickets and passes once the passenger has left the bus? I have seen this a few times but it has occurred to me that the pavement is not TfL property. On the last occasion the man claimed he had given his Oyster card to a friend on the bus so she could get home later on. I've no idea what the outcome was as I got off the bus to avoid being delayed. Thanks in advance to those replying.
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22993060 Disgraceful behaviour by Newham council. They've been caught out using illegal cameras but are refusing to refund drivers who have paid their tickets already. Is it possible to take a council to Small Claims court I wonder? (Haven't been caught out like this myself, just voicing the question)
  18. I know this is probably really simple and I think I might have an idea of the answer but just wanted some confirmation. My niece has apparently got ticketed for being an ambler gambler but the offence happened back in May and she has only found out today. Just wondering if there is time limit for when the notice should have been issued - three months down the line seems a bit slow and pushing it. Thanks in advance Clare
  19. I posted this same thread on the Parking section this morning. Below I have provided a brief outline of the BBC news article ( you will need to open the link to read the full article). As you will see, Newham Council are admitting that for the past 2 years they have been using cameras to enforce parking contravention without the correct certification. Not surprisingly they have agreed to “write off” all tickets that are at present unpaid but they are refusing to repay anyone who has previously paid. As anyone reading this forum will know ,when a bailiff is instructed the cost of an unpaid parking ticket can escalate to around £500-£750 and many times; cars have been removed to the pound and even sold by bailiff companies. There can be no doubt than anyone subject to bailiff enforcement over the past 2 years by a company enforcing a Newham Council parking ticket ought to be refunded. I am sure that there will be more to report on this in the next few weeks. . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22993060 Parking tickets were illegally issued by a dozen cameras over at least two years, a London council has admitted - but it refuses to refund fined drivers. Local authorities are only allowed to use cameras authorised by the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). But a Newham Council internal report, obtained by the BBC, shows between 2011 and 2013 it issued 6,840 tickets from unauthorised cameras - making £350,000. The council says previous cases show it does not need to repay drivers. By law, only camera models that have been specifically authorised by the VCA can be used by councils. Otherwise authorities might use cameras that are not of a high enough calibre to be relied upon for evidence. But Newham Council was using cameras that did not have approval. When the problem came to light in February 2013, it commissioned accountancy firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers to carry out an audit of how many unlawful tickets it had issued
  20. I recently got stopped by the police on a motorway for speeding (85mph). At that time they also told me that there was a mobile unit on the bridge that I had just gone under and that has probably got me too - they said that these cameras were not run by the police. I agree that I was speeding and deserve the ticket, but surely not TWO, given that this was within less than a mile surely that is just one instance. Anyone had experience of this and has any advice? I have already paid the first ticked that the police gave me before I received the second!
  21. And 1/2 of that 0.36% WIN. Maybe everybody in the Country should appeal their tickets.
  22. Not a problem, just a question… I have asked the following at my local train station(Chelmsford) and London Underground (Liverpool street) and have 2 different answers(No and yes in that order!) At present I buy a monthly travelcard including zones 1-6. I wish to split this and instead purchase a monthly travelcard from Chelmsford to Harold Wood (Zone 6) and also have a monthly Oystercard (Zones 1-6) to completer the journey to London Liverpool Street. Is this acceptable considering that the Chelmsford to London train passes through Harold wood but does not stop there? Thanks and hoping for a definitive answer!
  23. just got a ticket for parking in a taxi rank but it has a sign saying pay at meter between 9 and 6 i parked at 7 is this right to have 3 signs on
  24. Anyone clued up on the process up here after non payment of parking tickets? Ida x
  25. Can someone explain how the following would work please: I am meant to be going to Taunton tomorrow and returning later on tomorrow evening. I have to go via Exeter St Davids. Currently, the National Rail website shows many trains that are meant to be going through Exeter St Davids as cancelled. If the train is cancelled, am I entitled to a full refund? I have an open return ticket. If it makes any difference, I got my ticket through the Virgin Train website.
