  1. Came across all sorts of sites...Some Norweigan that had to be translated...
  2. Hi all...Thought I'd indulge in a little passion of mine for researching around a bit..This first post contains some initial findings of mine...If people out there in the CAG world find this sort of info interesting (even as a bit of light-hearted relief), I'll go into more depth with my research- and subsequent future posts... So here are some interesting facts about Aktiv Kapital I found (some of this stuff is posted on the Aktiv Kap website- but not ALL of it) Board members.. Tor Olav Troim - This guy's unreal. He's on many companies board's, which are predominately Shipping companies...These include; Golden Ocean Group, Frontline Ltd, Ship Finance International Ltd, Golar LNG, and SeaDrill... In all this, Seadrill seems to be quite key..Troim is the vice-president there...As a company they were new on the scene when they bought out Smedvig for 1.1 billion...On Smedvig's board at the time this happened??..Per Kumle ...Who's the chairman (of the board) at Aktiv Kapital these days? Per Kumle is... (Also on Smedvig's board at the time was a Kate Blakenship- there's a big link with her and Troim but no connection with AK I don't think- so I'll leave that for now) Back to SeaDrill- the guy who own's Seadrill is a guy called John Fredriksen...THis bloke has a daughter called Cecilie Fredriksen...Who's another one of the board members at Aktiv Kapital ? You got it...it's Cecilie Fredriksen!! Now I wonder who got her job for her at AK I'll move on...I'll go back to Per Kumle for a minute...he's another one who seems to be all over the place with many companies. Per will soon be head of Handelsbanken Capital Markets in Norway. He was previously CEO of Storebrand Bank ASA. He implemented the merger of Finansbanken ASA and Storebrand Bank AS. He has also been CEO for Citigroup in Norway and head of Citigroup's shipping business (more links with Troim then) in northern Europe with location in London. Basicaly this guy's a banker. Merete Haugli (another board member) is interesting...She used to be the assistant Chief of Police in the Economic Crime Section (that did make me laugh!) in Oslo. She now works for a place called ABG SC which is a corperate finance company. Tom Vidar Rygh earns about £40k a year just for being on Aktiv Kapital's board (not a bad job if you can get it) And what hasn't this guy done..He has previously held board positions in businesses such as Storebrand (now that rings a bell- see Per Kumle), Dyno, the Oslo Stock Exchange, the Enskilda Group, Carlsberg Breweries, NetCom and Telia Overseas. He's now on the board of Eniro, which is (kinda) interestngly the leading search company that find people (amongst other things) - he gets the paltry sum of £25k per annum for this little number. And then there's good old Per Erik Asmyr- One of the two original founders of Olympia Capital ASA- who Aktiv Capital bought out in 2004. Nice that they've let him hold on to a piece of what he helped to create...Wonder if he's any better that his co-creator of OC (asa) who alledgedly got done for tax evasion.. SO that was an hours work of nosing around (in between the tea and toast of course)...Have to finish with two quotes that Aktiv Kapital have on their website for potential customers...They read as follows: "Over 30 years unblemished record and worldwide reputation for effectiveness and ethics." (Oh really) "Highly trained and motivated staff, fully au fait with all up to date relevant legislation" (Fully au fait ?? pml yeah alright!) Think I'll have a nose around at Thames Credit next.
  3. It's amazing what you can find out if you look.. Activ Kapital's Chairman of the Board (Tom Vidar Rygh - one of his many jobs) got paid £40,000 last year just for being a board member...Not bad eh? Seems a bit dodgy as ole' Tommy boy used to be on the board of the Oslo Stock Exchange..and now he's into debt collecting!! Activ Krapital for ya..
  4. Why not email it to the CEO as well >> erik.oyno@aktivkapital.no
  5. Orangeman- you need to start you're own thread with this...It's easy enough to do....Who's the DCA? You need to CCA them in the first instance
  6. I just watched CEO of Aktiv Kapital give out the financial details of Q3 2006. In his presentation, he said that AK had bought 2.1 BILLION worth of debts (Norweigan Krona) for just 176 million (NOK) !! Feck,,,least we now how much they pay for a debt...that's less than 10%!!! login
  7. I just watched CEO of Activ Kapital give out the financial details of Q3 2006. That info is 7minutes 40 secs into presentation login
  8. Thanks Tanz - I can't click on your scales because I've given you two lots of thanks without sharing it out to anyone else in between times lol
  9. Can someone put me straight here as I'm confused...As far as I'm aware, Aktiv Kapital bought Olympia Capital ASA in 2004...How can TC say that OC ASA have bought the debt when (and if) they (OC ASA) didn't 'exist' as a company in 2005
  10. I'm confused here...(sorry to come in so late on this thread) Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Activ Kapital buy Olympia Credit in 2004?? Thames Credit are collection agents for Activ Kapital- are they not ? Seems a lot wrong if they say Olympia Credit have bought the debt in June 2005 when OC didn't even exist as a company then..
  11. Ricardo--- The best thing to do is to initially send a SAR to Cap1 (templates in the library)- include a £10 cheque or Postal Order. If you don't have to pay for the statements then they'll return your payment with your statements. Don't give them any excuse not to comply. Secondly, when your statements arrive, you need to claim for EVERY unlawful charge- be that an Overlimit fee or a late payment fee. In the meantime- read, read and read the many other posts on this site. There is so much free help avaliable and you will learn a lot from other people's postings...Keep us updated of your progress.
  12. I assume you are talking about Capital One Uglysister? If so, explain in greater detail on here about your account...If it's still with Capital One, then you need to send them a S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) immediately (unless you already have all your past statements). If it's with a DCA then you need to send them a CCA, and explain to them that the account is now 'in dispute'. Make sure you send the correct payments and make sure they are sent recorded delivery. If your CC limit is £200, then there is at least £350 in unlawful charges on it- if not more...There is so much help on this site, it's the best things that's ever happened on the internet..I personally can't give enough credit to the many people on here who give out the fantastic adivise that they do...So calm down...Deep breath and let's 'go get them!'
  13. Right here goes...About to send the Prelim. Want nearly £600 back in charges + contractual interest + removal of both CCJ and Default + refund of Solicitor costs that came about because of the unlawful charges + return of £10 S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) + the kitchen sink ...who says I'm greedy Just one other question...Can someone take a look at this part of my prelim...The rest of the letter is as per template, just want to check that this bit is ok...thanks What I require I calculate that you have taken £xxx.xx in unlawful charges. I also request that you refund me £xxx.xxp (calculated at 19.99% p.a) in interest in relation to the unlawful charges. In further addition, I request the return of £xx.xx costs I have already incurred for the court action you took out against me. Total £xxx.xx. I enclose a schedule of the charges which I am claiming with this letter. If required, a full breakdown of the £xx.xx costs (not included on the enclosed schedule) which I am claiming, can be obtained from Bryan Carter & Co. Additionally you have entered a default notice against my credit record, and obtained a C.C.J in 200x (Judgement value £xxx.xx). This default and C.C.J occurred merely in respect of unlawful charges levied by you or was the result of impecuniosity caused directly by the taking by you of penalty charges which you had applied unlawfully to my account. In addition to full payment of the sum mentioned above, I require that you remove the default entry from the register and have the C.C.J overturned. Please note that mere correction or amendment to the default entry will not be acceptable.
  14. From the numerous threads I've read on here, that IS NOT a true copy of the agreement. Quite a few others have had the same...You might want to get someone who knows more than me to clarify that, but me thinks the clock is ticking...Dont throw that document (that they've sent you) away, to be used as evidence if need be...
  15. Ceborame- I think you'll find that Bryan Carter are not a DCA, but a solicitors acting on behalf of a company. I'm dealing with that bunch at the moment and they're not helpful at all- in fact, I've written more than one complaint to Mr Bryan Carter personally about the attitude of 'his' staff..In the first instance, I would CCA (see template section) them both and wait to see what replies you get from them. You'll need to tell them at some point that the account/s are 'in dispute'. I may be wrong, but I think they become 'in dispute' once you've sent the S.A.R - (Subject Access Request).
  16. Not trying to wee on your fire KHM, but remember it's 14 WORKING days
  17. But is Cabot actually Cabot? Owned by this lot now... Take a look (sorry if you've all seen this already) npil - asset warehousing, corporate and portfolio acquisitions isn't it strange how Mr Simon Oakland became a director of Cabot just 3 days before this take-over. He was made a director of Nikko Energy 2 months before this deal. As we all know, Cabot were previously known as PALL MALL FINANCE ACQUISITIONS LIMITED up unitl June '06 , and Mr Oakland became a director there in April 2006. Seems like Mr Oakland is some sort of bigwig. Oh, another interesting piece of news here...Simon Oakland is also on the board of directors of Menzies Hotel Group, and who invest s in them??? You got it...Nikko! Oh and just a point of note...Menzies's solicitors are Eversheds...Now I'm sure I've heard that name mentioned on this site before! Anyway back to 'our' Ken...Wondering who's debts Cabot buy, as he's worked for Lloyds TSB, Ventura and GE Capital.
  18. LOlL..Mutts Nuts as opposed to the dogs bo****** It was a compliment...I'll have a little dig around, see what I can find out...just a hobby of mine- not sure I'll turn up anything that hasn't been discovered before, but you never know. LoL@ Kingshill though.. seen this before? >> Kent and Medway Corporate Relocation Services from Locate in Kent
  19. Just read all of this thread, and wish to join and help in some way..as and when I can...Have to say that Tbern is a bally hero, and I'm with you all the way..as well as the many others..debtmountain, andrew1 and others...You lot are the Mutts Nutts... (wondering if should quote the 3 musketeers here lol)....
  20. Patience is the key here Jkop...Read the many other Cap1 threads and you'll se for yourself...You've waited this long, it's not much longer to wait. Cap1 will pay in full, just sit tight... I'm doing one for myself with this mob also...I have £588 in charges for a card with a £200 limit!!
  21. Don't hold your breath derek ..Cap1 usually get your account details to you between the 32nd and 38th day...Just got mine today, sent the SAR 6th Jan
  22. Not trying to hijack here, but I'll be in the same boat soon with CAP1..Only difference being that I had a CCJ against me, is this the same as a default? S'funny that the amount (in charges) that cap1 have on me is also £588 ..weird...still, be nice to get the same interest back as well lol
