  1. A letter containing the following text should stop them in their tracks if they plan to visit you
  2. You send the cca request to whoever is hassling you for payment
  3. There will likely be a term in the agreement between you and them that they can conduct further searches to aid in the running of your account. In this economic climate however a lot of credit providers are reducing their limits
  4. Can't help too much with advise but I've just checked my natwest accounts and it's not there (unfortunately) What will happen now depends on if the account details submitted were for a valid account. If the account number isn't valid I believe it will go into a holding account and shouldn't be too tricky to get back. If the account details are valid however you should still be able to get it back but it may be a bit trickier and you'll need someone who knows what they are talking about at the bank or they may just try and fob you off
  5. You could try replying with STOP though as the text hasn't originated from a shortcode I'm not sure how effective it will be
  6. I'm a prepayment customer and until recently Ebico have been the cheapest supplier as their tariff is the same regardless of how you pay. Did a price comparison on uswitch today and to say the results were surprising is an understatement. British gas are £200 cheaper than what I am on now. This can't be right surely!!!
  7. If you are contacted about it you could always try the cca approach
  8. If there has been no payment towards or any other acknowledgement of the debt in 6 years, the debt is statute barred and cannot be enforced. Of course that doesn't stop any debt collectors from trying it on! There is a letter to send for statute barred debts in the debt forums
  9. Never mind when the consumer complains. They should do it for each and every item of data they hold. If they aren't able to do that due to the volume of data they hold they either need better systems or less data
  10. Subbing, very interested in the outcome of this. I was planning something similar against the CRAs last year but had to put it on the back burner
  11. As long as refund is by cheque and not by credit to your account that seems reasonable to me.
  12. They generally hope that you get that fed up of filling out IB50 and jumping through their various other hoops that you will decide it isn't worth the hassle
  13. Whenever I've had to apply for housing benefit there has always been an option to pay it direct to landlord. As I know what I am like with money I always take this option
  14. Do they use brainwashing then? Bit concerned though. Nothing from lefty for over a week!
  15. Main question is did you buy it from a business or dealership or was it a private sale from an individual
  16. Not sure anyone will read the notice of correction anyway
  17. If the phone shop is a business (which as you describe it as a phone shop then it seems like it is) the sales of goods act fully applies and it is the retailer and not the manufacturer who are liable to you under the SOGA If you have a postal address for them send a letter outlining the problem and that you are rejecting goods under the sales of goods act. If no reply after 14 days send a letter before action and then claim in court after that if necessary.
  18. BBC watchdog ran a story this week about people getting huge bills despite being on pre payment meters. They may be interested in your story
  19. If you incur any charges and/or interest as a result of being overdrawn, personally I would hold Argos liable for that also
  20. Hmmmmm this has gone very quiet now. Let's hope no one has sent Lefty for a swim in the river with some concrete shoes!
  21. You'll need to make the full payment as you need to give 7 days notice to cancel the OSC. However have this letter ready to hand to the store manager when you make payment (also send a copy recorded to head office) You may also want to fire off a harassment by telephone letter:
  22. If the credit file is accurate (which knowing the CRAs is by no means certain) the debt with be statute barred in the new year. Going off your version of events, it already is. What is the alleged debt for? If it is something covered by the CCA it may be worth firing a CCA request off just to keep them off balance for the few extra months needed
  23. Perhaps some form of virus would be helpful....... could call it the makeCRAscomplywiththeDPAonceandforall.trojan
  24. You may as well write "I am a fish" 500 times as a notice of correction for all the notice people searching your file will take of it (which is none)
