  1. Thank you so much for all your kind help and advice. I feel stupid now for doubting that there are still good people like yourself on this forum. I wish there was some way I could repay you for your efforts. If you ever need any car mechanical advice or advice about Civil Engineering and Drainage...I'm your man:)
  2. Don't know what's happened to this forum since I last used it. People used to be only too happy to help or offer advice...not so anymore sadly. Seeing as nobody had the decency to even try to offer some advice, I bit the bullet and just rang Eon who were extremely helpful...unlike this forum. That is my advice to anyone in a similar predicament...don't put all your faith in these forums as you may never get a response. Be brave and ring the company and offer a small payment, then ask about a monthly Payment Plan. It was certainly far quicker than waiting for some holier than thou Moderator or Forum anorak to have the decency and manners to point me in the right direction:mad:.
  3. Hi folks. I rather foolishly buried my head in the sand regarding a debt to Eon of £400. I received a letter yesterday that appears to have been hand delivered but came with the rest of my mail delivered by the Postman. It says "We called today at -blank- to discuss any problems you may have?" Firstly they didn't call at all as I was in all day and I've been charged a further £30 for this letter. I really want to pay them as it isn't a massive amount of money and I would much rather be on the tariff I'm on now as prepayment meters are an out and out rip off...I know this from working for Southern Electric many moons ago. The situation I'm in currently isn't the best as I'm not able to work at present as I was a Groundwork and Drainage contractor until a serious knee injury put paid to my job prospects for the time being and I currently am in receipt of benefits because of the injury. What can I do? I was given a payment card a few months back and have made a payment but not as much as they wanted. I know I've been stupid to ignore this for this long but I just want to get the matter sorted for now. I'm pretty scared by all of this as there is mention of involving the Police to assist them.
  4. Hi folks. Npower have just hit me with a bill for £1494. I don't understand how I can owe them anything as I pay my electricity in advance via a prepayment meter which is already a rip off. I pay nearly £10 per week for a very meagre amount of electricity usage. There's only me and partner and the place is tiny. We do all our washing at night during the cheap period and have energy efficient lightbulbs throughout the house. It's worse now as we're coming into winter as I need to heat the place also. There are storage heaters but I daren't use them as they would cost about £3-4 per day to run. I use oil-filled rads sparingly in the evenings but surely this isn't the way it should have to be. I'm currently on Jobseeker's Allowance and only have roughly £12 per week to feed myself and put electric on after paying my rent etc. I think it's very unfair that people who are on low income are penalised so heavily by a tariff that is supposed to help them. I've heard of a social tariff...does such a tariff exist. Thanks in advance for any advice or info anyone can give.
  5. Hi folks. I rang the court that Capquest have listed on the SD to ask them for form 6.4 to set aside the SD. The court said they didn't mind sending me the form but they say it isn't their jurisdiction and i couldn't swear my affidavit at their court. Is this a good cock up that'll benefit me in any way? Also i've not had the CCA back yet so on my set aside form do i say that i do not admit the debt.
  6. Hi folks. I was laid off in April (another victim of the construction crunch). I had to swallow my pride and make a claim for Jobseekers allowance. I was having my Housing Benefit paid into my RBS account but because SkyTV insisted on incorrectly doubling my subscription fee, I ended up having some charges applied to my account at £38 a time...£38, no wonder every working man/woman in this country is skint. The charges got so bad that I can't even use the account anymore and Sky can really f*** off as well as I've had no end of hassle just trying to get them to take the correct monthly payment. But anyway that's a thread for another forum. The story so far is that I've sent a letter template that I found posted by a forum member called TopcatDC where I've asked all charges to be refunded within 7 day as the Social Security states that not one charge can be taken from money a person needs to live on. 7 days have now passed and I've heard nothing. Does anyone have any advice on the best course of action to take next?
  7. Well as i currently owe a disputed £3,000 odd to my local council and all told my debts are around £7,000. As I'm currently unemployed it seems like an impossible mountain to climb so I'm really considering the bankruptcy option especially if Capquest have to foot the cost me going bankrupt. I'm not worried about any detriment to my credit file as it went up the swanny years ago I'm afraid to say.
  8. Hi folks. Thanks again for all your wonderful advice...you've all been brilliant. *UPDATE* Received a reply from Capquest today dated 6th August saying they are putting the account on hold for 28 days in order that they can obtain information required. I sent my CCA on the 2nd so does that mean if they haven't satisfied my request within 12 days of when I sent the request, I then apply to the court to have this set aside? Is that what would be the next course me action? Or do I just hope that they don't provide the CCA?I'm just a little confused with the SD saying 18 days response and Capquest now saying it's on hold for 28 days. Thanx as always guys and girls. You are a beacon of hope in my stormy sea of current hassle
  9. Oh it never rains but it pours. I missed my first 13 week review with the Jobcentre and when I attended today to sign. I was asked to fill in a little statement explaining why I missed my appointment. I filled it honestly as I'd just got the appointment day muddled up with my signing day as they were both on a Friday. The form was faxed off to their decision makers who made the extreme decision to stop my benefit...the ramifications of which are very bad. I've now had to fill out a Rapid Reclaim form which I think is silly. Surely these decisions need to be more fair and considered and not just a punishment? I did actually ring the jobcentre on the morning of my appointment on an unrelated matter (crisis loan) but because I thought my appointment wasn't until the following friday and no one reminded me, my error went unchecked. I'm now about to appeal this decision. Can anyone advise please?
  10. Guys this may sound silly but try as i might, i just can't find the Cca template. Is it just me or can this site be a little puzzling
  11. Thanks folks. If I don't make any response what would happen? I've not responded to anything in 5 years so will they just proceed with the Bankruptcy action? I'm worried if I start sending Cca requests and the like that it might confirm ownership of the debt. I guess what I'm driving at is whether it'd be better just to keep on ignoring Capquest?
  12. Well that doesn't sound too bad either way. The SD doesn't have a response date...even though the accompanying letter states "action by the dates stipulated"...it just says that to comply I must act within 18 days. So shall I just ignore their SD letter? Is that how I let it run it's course? I've also just noticed on the SD itself that the debt in question is just over 5 years old. Thanks ever so much for all this help. I was frantic this morning but now I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
  13. Hi thanks for replying. I have other debts but I must confess I buried my head in the sand about them when I was working. That is my only debt with Capquest as far as I know. I do have other debts probably around £2.5-3k but to be honest i've ignored them now for years...not big and not clever I know but at the time I was very irresponsible with regards to financial matters. I live in rented accomodation and don't have any other income other than my £62 per week benefit. As to whether Capquest have the correct figure or the right to collect the debt, i'm not sure as I don't know if i've had any other correspondence regarding this debt as I'm ashamed to say up until recently I was too scared to open anything I didn't like the look of. I can afford to pay at around £1 or a similar amount but due to other deductions from my benefit by way of attachment of earnings orders, anything more than a nominal amount would be rather difficult. I was just wondering if Bankruptcy would stop everyone chasing me...
  14. Hi folks...I think i'm up the Swanny with this and I don't know what to do. I received a letter this morning from Capquest in relation to a debt of £2,000. It is for a debt to Intelligent Finance. I'm currently on Benefits after recently losing my job and to be honest Bankruptcy doesn't seem the worst thing in the world as I've got other debts too. What should I do in the first instance. I don't want to be bankrupt if I don't need to be. What I'm wondering is if, in my current financial status, it would be a better decision to consider bankruptcy or should i try and fight this...All advice gratefully received.
