  1. I wouldn't say scammers as they got my pal off the sex on the beach thing back in 2008 as they have good contacts in the media. However with regards to debt and negotiating its a foolish move to work with them unless you are going to totally clear a debt and even then its better to go with one of the big Emirati firms.
  2. yeah 1 friend - working for aramco so that could have an influence got nicked then paid the fine for the bounced check 10k and was let out without further ado. Debt wiped I wouldn't risk it and I know several CID there who supposedly would get me out. still wouldn't risk it.
  3. Personally I would strongly suggest not risking going there with debts. Very possible you wont get back out again. And I know many in that position. Not jailed just unable to leave. the stories of Interpol in other countries sounds far fetched but in and out of Dubai is not a good idea. only two weeks ago a mate got stopped albeit a govt debt.
  4. they called me, I answered and likewise rather than saying hello im...they ask me who I am...err sorry who are you and no im not that person. ok we will not call again.
  5. Ignore that its a standard letter as below Attachment of Earnings - If you are employed, money could be deducted directly from your employment salary to repay the debt. Charging Order - If you own your home, the debt could be secured against your home, meaning that when you come to sell, the proceeds would be used to settle the debt in full. A separate application could also be made to force the sale of your home to repay the debt. Warrant of Execution - Personal goods/possessions could be seized up to the value of the debt and sold at auction. Bankruptcy - Bankruptcy Proceedings can be commenced in relation to judgments debts exceeding GBP5000. If legal action is taken the total amount you owe will be higher than the current outstanding balance as recoverable costs and interest incurred since the instruction of IDR and during the legal process will be added to the debt. To prevent further action you must get in touch with us. We are still keen to work with you by understanding your circumstances and agreeing a fair solution.
  6. Sorry I wasn't trying to argue with you I just thought it was a great document to have and I cant find it. He got stung in the end but was already up against it from the beginning
  7. I never said believe it! Im saying look at what they use and then fight against it. it gets thrown in front of judges and they just believe it!
  8. Underp04 (I think it was him) put up the statement IDR used in court from some supposed expert mr edge. can you find it? It stated 10 years was the statute barred limit but also that the laws were very confusing. very much worth digging out!
  9. to be clear a lawyer advised me to ignore it. I was torn as I take on board what hear on this board.
  10. having just looked at your letter it looks very similar
  11. I got a pre action protocol / letter of claim from JandP almost 2 years ago and was advised do not reply. I didn't, and then a few weeks later got a few more of their normal emails and they then disappeared. IGNORE
  12. one of my debts is with a bank that use moriarty from what I see on here. they would send emails saying moriarty were looking after it and would be in touch. in fact they never did. the same emails then said it was with a Uae one who started sending lots of mails. weird as they have even less chance of getting the money however they do operate in a more nasty way given the chance hence the importance of not having a visible linkedin etc
  13. fair enough. thats obviously where they've got your details from then. My friend had the same thing but essentially other than any embarrassment you might feel there is no problem here. its just an attempt to add stress to you and make you snap.
  14. I also have that one sending me emails. however and this is more for others as they've already crossed into this nasty approach, you must take your details off linkedin etc as this gives them easy access to you.
  15. you are correct. it is absolutely pointless speaking to the bank. in fact it is counter productive.
  16. a previous thread by underP04 contains the expert evidence of mr edge that they repeatedly use and it says the statute of limitations is probably 10 years (they dont know themselves) so ignore.
  17. why are you at a loss? without sounding rude people like you are giving them easy money and keeping them going... .they are pestering everybody you simply dont need to answer? Imagine their really mean emails are the same as all the other junk that turns up in your inbox but is totally inconsequential. Then move on. dont give little bits of money as all they want is to have you on a string and at some point you will be their very first target as you are so easy. Just read this and I just want to clarify im not being rude to you I just want to tell you to stop worrying and your talking to them is exactly what they want and putting you in the firing line. they want low hanging fruit
  18. its not about a mortgage or no mortgage. logic dictates that as they want to make money then they go after people with an asset they can identify and then apply their underhand tactics to put a charge on it or have you over a barrel to pay off the debt. obviously its not automatic as there are so many people in this situation.
  19. No need to respond to either of them. J and P are all bark no bite. They sent me pre action protocol papers which I ignored. a few weeks later the standard emails returned before disappearing altogether. They will search your name on the land register. if your name is on it then you probably head a little north on the list of people who they would want to chase. If it doesn't then they wont. therefore its your wife's name they will never know or bother.
  20. does it say the following: As such, we have now recommended to our client that your account should be referred to solicitors for legal action. If you have any queries, you may call us on 01494 911099 and we will try our best to help. got about 6 of them
  21. no. just ignore them. they sent loads of weekly emails and a few letters over 1 year and did absolutely nowt.
  22. Hi yes I received letter and email simultaneously. I dont have the letter anymore. email was like this: Judge & Priestley Contact Request Ref: Dear Sir/Madam, We have been asked to contact you in reference to Emirates NBD. A letter was posted to you on ??????? in respect of this matter. Please contact Judge & Priestley Solicitors on 020 8290 7316 quoting your reference number ??????. When calling you will be asked to complete our security questions to verify your identity. This is not a sales or marketing email and it is important that we speak to you. Our offices are open 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday. Yours faithfully Judge & Priestley LLP they then sent another '2nd contact....' this happpeed a few times......ie 1st contact and 2nd contact.... a pre action protocol - I ignored all then they disappeared.
  23. J&P took over from IDR on my one....sent a load of sms and some letters and constant emails. sent a pap which I was advised to ignore by solicitor and they disappeared soon after.
  24. I think I've had the same emails ages ago threatening to tell the client to start legal action. never happened.
  25. The guys on here are the experts so I would take much more credence of what they say than me. my tuppence happens is when the amount is larger the chances that requesting a load of documents stopping their activity could be seen as simply kicking the can down the road.
