It’s probably not a bluff but dx100uk has stated that it has to be handed in person and cannot just be put through letter box and also they may not register with court, so even if they do send it could still be scare tactics.

End of the day, it seems like theres no one who's an actual expert on this and so I think we have to just go with our gut on the info provided. Too many grey areas and different apparent outcomes going on. As we dont know who anyone is etc, its natural to question where info comes from etc All I can say is no matter the outcome with myself, I will keep updating the thread - I think if people were getting shafted though, they'd come back and warn people. So far I have seen 1 post like that and I just felt there was something off about it.

This thread has made me apprehensive, especially after the other persons accusations. We will never know as its a forum, but my gut has said on a couple of threads that something doesn't ring true and I may be leaning that way on this one too. As previously mentioned, I know someone who has ignored letters for years and nothing...but I also do appreciate it could well be a numbers game/luck of the draw. Has anyone had any follow up yet? Its gone quiet on my end, but I am expecting something to materialise as I believe they probably are wanting us to sweat for a bit - they seem to like the scare tactics and bullying. Honestly, I am going to wait. We have more to gain this way and all the stories indicating 'drastic consequences' just dont add up to me.

Yes I had this too over a week ago. No follow up as of yet. Expecting it on weekend as most my letters come on weekends.

There's nothing we can do at this stage anyway; I think we have more to gain from ignoring. As all the threads say, we cannot be sure the bank know about IDR or if they'll get the money anyway. I've had no proof or docs sent regarding this from IDR. This is what baffles me most - that they can send generalised letters, not send any proof of debt etc and then threaten bankruptcy. Very niche question so not sure if anyone knows; I am currently pregnant and very near to my due date- if it was to escalate would I have to attend court etc? If they were to submit a legitimate SD, do we have a time period to liaise with the court regarding this? what happens post an SD being received?

@Not so hunky dorey I am in same situation, as are a few others. Being threatened with Statutory Demand currently, so am waiting to see what happens. Get calls, texts and letters etc. I have a thread also might be worth following.

Ah ok...thanks for clarity. 3 bankruptcies from IDR/Dubai related cases? Was this just last year or 3 cases known to date? Do we know if there's any trend as to the amounts and whether people are made bankrupt or not? @LovetoteachNot sure if you've seen the above

following as in exactly same situation. Lets keep updating on our threads so we can work out how to proceed together I know of someone with 500k loan who left Dubai years ago who has always ignored letters and had no action so hoping this is just scare tactics. They dont even read the letters anymore and just return to sender but theres no return address so probably the same as ignoring.

Got another letter today. 1 week count down. I think if its not handed to me then I will 100% ignore. If its handed to me then how do I find out if its legit? Do I contact the court mentioned or something?

Another chaser letter this morning. Less wordy and aggressive but still threatening SD and bankruptcy etc. Nothing by way of proof sent this whole time, just standard letters. Thought I’d keep you updated. They also text me every couple of days too
