Shop direct PPI. Letter received today
AceDaz69 replied to paul david johnson's topic in Mail order catalogues
Hi For those who have received the letter, did you ring up? What was the outcome? I am thinking of sending a letter to them instead of phoning?! Thanks -
Hi What if they don't reply witting 56 days? Is it time to complain to financial ombudsman? Is there a template letter?

Does anyone know that if a Statutory Demand on a £3.6k debt that is owned by Lowell has been issued and I offer a full and final offer, What will happen to the Statutory Demand? Will I still need to goto court? And do you think Lowell will accept £1k? Or what would they accept? Would they hold out for the full amount? Thanks
-
Thanks, doesn't help me now tho. But if it has down that I am female on the CCA and I am in fact male, would this make a difference?
-
How would I know if the CCA is compliant? I got one sent over a year and a half ago, and there wasn't much to it. I am more concerned over this Statutory Demand, should I not be ringing Lowell and offering a repayment?
-
I don't know. It was a Vanquis Bank Credit Card from 2007
-
No, there is still about 3 years off from being Statute Barred
-
So wait...I am waiting for a reply from the original creditor, the debt collection company who bought my debt has my account on hold while I wait for that reply and the debt collection company who owns the debt is STILL chasing money? How is that legal?!? its a £3.6k debt, will Lowell accept £1k as a full and final offer?
-
I got the CCA, the only thing that was incorrect was my gender. SAR has been issues and finally received, and I am waiting on a reply from my Charges claim with the original creditor. Which is why my account has been placed on hold with Lowell. I am thinking of ringing Lowell tomorrow and asking them why they are continuing to issue me with a Statutory demand when my account with them is on hold. Should I?
-
Can they issue you with a Statutory Demand when your account with Debt Collecting agency who owns the debt is on hold???
-
That's what I am waitin on. I have got a SAR and sent a letter claiming the charges. Lowell have placed my account on hold on the 20th December, but then I got home to find this through the door
-
Thanks. That makes sense. Lowell threatened to issue me with one, but I have been dealing with the original creditor and on 20th December Lowell placed my account on hold for a month while I waited for a Reply. What should I do now?

Hi I got home today to find a printed ripped in half piece of paper from the apparent above company. It says thy are a Bailiffs - Repossession / Collection Agents. Registered office in Sheffield. It says it's very urgent + very important and I need to call this guy on a Mobile number. That he had tried to contact me but had no success. It's obviously hand delivered and it has my name written on the top. Has anyone got any dealings with this company? I have had only 1 company that threatened to take it far and that company has put my account on hold for 28 days while the original creditor replies to my letter. Please help as I don't really want to ring the number as I don't recognise the company.

Hi Rebel I have sent the spreadsheet to Vanquis and gave them 14 days. They have sent a letter stating that they have 56 days to respond. Your spreadsheet says over £1k, so I have claimed that. If I get it, which I doubt I will get, do you think the Debt Collection company would accept it as a full and final offer to repay the debt? Or would they hold out for the full £3.6k?

Hi George It was all written in a book, but at the time they collected from the sister in law. 2 letters have been sent to Head Office with no reply, the doorstep collector has said that we would be lucky to get a reply. He also said that around the time of the payments going missing, their area manager and another collector was prosecuted for fraud of £40,000. This area manager actually bullied my partner to get payments out of her, including asking for card details. She stood her ground and never gave him them, he also threatened through a door step collector that he would be round to sort her out if she didn't pay anything. This went on whilst I was driving home from work. I do not understand why, if a collector and area manager got done for £40k fraud, that they are still chasing money when we are disputing payments made at the same time as they were frauding. I had a quick look but I cannot see anything online regarding the fraud, does anyone know about this? I was thinking a final letter to Provident, but how can I state the fraud if I cannot find anything publicly about it?
-
Sounds about right, I asked for a copy of my agreement a few years ago and the only thing that was wrong was that they had my gender wrong.
-
I received it yesterday, not exactly what I expected tho. It's difficult to read properly. There is no statements as I know them, just a long list of transactions, a long list of balances and what seems to be a history of communications. So what is my next step?
-
Has anyone had any dealings with Provident? They are now saying that my partner owes nearly £700 in arrears, even though she has paid it. The statement shows that there are a lot of missed payments and also "Office" payments, which are payments made by a card. My partner has NEVER paid by card. We found out today that the Area Manager that bullied her a few times 2 years ago was in fact fired around that time and has been done for £40,000 fraud along with another doorstep collector - has anyone got any info about this? We have sent 2 letters, not recorded delivery, to head office asking them to investigate but to no avail. The current collector, who does seem ok, has said that a reply would be very unlikely. We are at a loss as to what to do, they have offered that if she pays it off then when it gets down to £100 then they will write the £100 off. Apparently other local clients are not paying as well due to issues with their accounts. We are at a loss as to what to officially do as there is obviously a serious issue with the collectors around here, but Provident Head Office aren't arsed about what goes on just that nothing is paid. Obviously with the debt being so much, I am concerned with debt collectors etc.

Financial ombudsman got involved, Vanquis has stated that they never received a SAR, so I issued another one on the 7th September 2013. They have until 16th October 2013 (Thats when the 40 days are up). Has anyone got any experience of companies who do fail to provide SAR? ie can they still force a debt to be paid? Also, what am I looking for in the SAR? I am keen to see if I have paid any PPI as I put a claim into Vanquis for PPI payments as I did not need them due to my job security, but Vanquis has turned round and said that I never paid any PPI when I am 100% sure I did as I remember cancelling it. Any thoughts? Thanks
