  1. Executing a warrant is not breaking in, that is why they get a warrant of access, and if necessary they can call upon the police to assist. If at the end of the day for whatever reason they cannot access your property to fit a prepayment meter, they will simply disconnect your supply outside the property. From the best of my recollections there is a substantial charge to get the power reconnected if that happens in addition to clearing the debt.. As others have suggested the most practical solution is to contact the supplier and agree to have the prepayment meter fitted. There really is nowhere else to go which will not exacerbate your situation further.
  2. I don't know if you are aware but the most likely way this will play out is that a prepayment meter will be fitted; you say they already have a warrant to access your home to do that. Any outstanding debt will be set on the meter, ie it will claim so much a week for the debt in addition to your consumption. The warrant fee will most likely also be added to the debt - that will be in three figures - and so will any additional charges incurred whilst fitting the meter - dog handler, locksmith, etc. You would not be allowed to change supplier with a debt on the account, I'm not sure at what level of debt that cuts in at these days, ten years ago it was £10 (!!) I used to work in this area so don't shoot the messenger... Unless you can pay this off in a lump sum the best thing for you to do now is to accept the prepayment meter. It will cost you more in the long run if you do not. BTW in my time in dealing with this - office end - meter fitters were faced with bricked up doors, snake cage built around meter, vicious dogs, and the occasional dead body. Also a number of abandoned animals were rescued. My best memory of this not very pleasant job was speaking to someone who had just fitted a meter in an abandoned property and being told he was leaving just as soon as he found something to put the abandoned goldfish in, on it's way to his tank at home...
  3. Having studied this further, with my don't trust debt collectors head on, I'm guessing a positive response would put back onto my credit file something which has now dropped off and although they say they would not pursue it any further they could still pass it to some bottom feeder to chase the remainder of the balance so it's going in the shredder...
  4. I have received the following letter regarding an alleged debt I have been paying off at £1.00 per month for probably 10 years now following a court case. Given it is Robinson Way my gut reaction is to put it straight into the shredder, particularly given the paragraph about 'partially settled' Any advice?
  5. Okay so here is the requested update. I signed on today, as I was waiting I could hear that every person signing on was being told about this as it would affect their next signing. My 'advisor' started telling me about it as soon as I sat down gesturing at my job search print out and telling me I won't have to do that any more as they will 'just look at your email.' 'I still prefer to bring in the print out' I said ' I can imagine all kinds of data protection issues around this and in any case I am not prepared to open up my personal email in a crowded room on a job centre computer and at the end of the day as long as I do a job search it is entirely up to me how I present it' She eventually agreed and said she would not be prepared to open up her private email either. I was then told that she had decided it would be best for me if I continued signing on as usual and she made an appt. for two weeks time. I stated that I didn't mind attending a group signing but I would be bringing in a print out as usual. She told me I would find myself having this same conversation every time. I said I didn't mind because I knew they could not force me to open the email account. I eventually got the impression they did not want me infecting the whole group with 'I know my rights' syndrome so I agreed that it was best to continue as before. I have idea how many people will continue signing as before but it is clearly a contingency they have had to allow for. And TBH I think I will prefer it, I have had a breakdown in the past and they know about this and my adviser seemed to also think group signing would not be good for my stress levels - I wonder just what they expecting to go on at them?
  6. I hope I'm in the right forum for this. I've just made my fortnightly signing on at the job centre and saw someone I have not seen before. When I presented my usual print out of job application emails etc. (trial and error has taught me this is the most idiot proof way to present a job search) she advised me that I didn't have to do that and pretty soon they will be introducing 'group signings' where people attend in groups of about 15 and can just show their job search on their tablet or phone. Apparently they will soon not have enough staff to do anything more personal. 'You can just show them your job search on your phone or tablet' she said I pointed out that I had neither a mobile phone nor a tablet, just a laptop at home, and would prefer to continue bringing in my print outs - didn't mention it was because it's idiot proof but that is why lol - even if I had a phone or tablet I would certainly not be offering up my email or any other personal account to their scrutiny. She then mentioned I could use their computers to go into these account but I found out weeks ago that they use Open Office, cannot open pdf documents, and in any case I was not prepared to do this, I maintained that I preferred to bring in the print outs, and pointed out that it is entirely up to me how I present my job search and this is the method I chose. This was not in any way a nasty conversation and I was actually laughing by now and asked her if she really thought this was going to work, her face said she knew it wouldn't. 'It'll be like a chimps tea party won't it' I suggested, she seemed to agree. ' I bet I'll be the first one out the door after showing someone my print out won't I' she still seemed to agree but now wanted me to leave because I was making too much sense, my first attempt to sign went very wrong because I was laughing so I had to do it again (a first) I've had a bit of a Google and can't find anything about what promises to be an entertaining farce - at least for anyone with a print out of their job search. Anyone heard of or had experience of this 'group signing'?

Former ingeus employee regards long term sick as 'deadbeats' “I worked near the national stadium ” Former Employee - Employment Advisor in London, England Doesn't Recommend Negative Outlook I worked at Ingeus full-time (More than 5 years) Pros The tube station was across the road from the building Cons You will meet the worst humanity has to offer. Aggressive, uneducated, ignorant, lazy, arrogant, sneaky and poor social skills - that's enough about the PDMs, let's talk about the clients. Your small caseload will be long term sick and long term never done a days work in their lives. Your job is to get 8 people per month into work lasting more than 6 months. You will have to see 12 of these deadbeats per day, whilst undertaking endless pointless admin work against a backdrop of your manager shouting at you and threatening to sack you. Even if you can resist the urge of giving your pdm a back handed slap, this job will drain any goodness you may have and you will end up hating unemployed people. You will probably give some serious consideration to taking your own life. I could not put into words or convey how horrible this job has become. The PDM in my office was hated by the whole company yet she was held up by senior management as the troubleshooter. Maybe this had more to do with her low cut tops ( it certainly wasnt because of her ability as she didn't have any as a manager) Her presence would make you want to vomit. Management have a contemptuous attitude towards staff. They will remind you daily of how grateful you should be for getting paid a decent salary. ( btw, What they pay you is not enough to put up with all the things in this job) Show Less Advice to Management In case you are to thick to realise, all employees are looking for another job. All of them. I salute you, you have managed to destroy what was once a great place to work. I hope you're proud.' 8. This was mooted to me when I was at Ingeus, I had already demonstrated my barrack room lawyer capabilities to them so when I cited my (not entirely recovered from) nervous breakdown and my firm belief that anything stressful like videoing would only serve to exacerbate my existing health issues they dropped it... but I had a fall back plan I had decided to look straight into the camera with an expression of stark terror and then start babbling' Why are you doing this to me? I told you I couldn't cope with it? Why, why would you do this to someone... why why...' and at some point my head would go into my hands and stay there, a slither to the ground from my seat might even come into play. They wouldn't be able to delete it fast enough in case it was used against them.

  10. You need to make a zero income housing benefits claim, any sanction will not effect this.
  11. A gift of money is a completely different thing. It is a GIFT and it is most importantly IRREGULAR. It is not income, income is earned and regular.
  12. BTW *irregular* gifts of money to benefit claimants are perfectly legitimate and do not in any way constitute fraud as long as they do not take their capital over the limits for their claim.
  13. I haven't read through this entire thread but I would like to say most 'dobbing in' is generally done by friends who have had an argument and the person who does it usually regrets it when they have calmed down. By then the wheels are in motion and cannot be stopped. I worked in the housing benefits office some years ago and remember many people calling back later to try and withdraw their report and you had to tell them once a report is made there is a legal requirement to investigate, it cannot be stopped. Personally I would never report anyone for this. While I did that job I was fully aware some of my neighbours appeared to be not declaring income but you cannot hope to know what someone's circumstances are or how 'one more thing' might tip them over the edge. The worst thing was when when a neighbour was reported and I knew they were under investigation, yet I could do nothing to warn them about it because they might have blurted out that I told them. If you are going to fiddle benefits don't tell anyone, especially not your nearest and dearest, this is not advice just an observation.

  15. Found this little gem on their website faq I have no knowledge of this debt/I am in dispute that the debt is valid? You should contact us immediately to obtain further information on the debt and to let us know why you are in dispute with the debt. We can advise you on the next steps to take to resolve your dispute. We can only cease action on the recovery of the debt when instructed to do so by our client so you may need to contact them. You should do this as soon as possible as failing to get the issue resolved will lead to further charges being incurred. So if you are contacted out of the blue with reference to a debt which is not yours YOU must sort it out yourself or you will incur 'charges' LOLZ
  16. This morning I received a call on my mobile for a name I did not recognise, I advised they had the wrong number and they went away. At about midday I received a text: 'This is a Collectica reminder. Your arrangement of £33.00 is due tomorrow. Please call 0844 800 45 88, option 2, use ref 80***59 to make your payment' Now I have no relationship of any sort with Collectica and had never heard of them until today. I have now been hung up on by five (5) Collectica employees whilst trying to resolve this. They all seemed to think I should give them my name and address, and I declined to give them any personal data at all. I suggested they contact the alleged debtor in question to confirm their mobile number and in the meantime not use either of the numbers they have on the account because one is clearly wrong and at that point all five of them hung up because I am not 'co-operating' with them. I have to say this was a trip down memory lane, although I have never had any previous dealings with this particular company. My alleged debts are all now thankfully well and truly statute barred, but it seems I now have the prospect of regular contact from Collectica who intend to supply me with data concerning a third party As an interesting aside the fifth person I spoke to advised me Collectica don't have a credit license.

Just thought this might be useful. Of course you would have to tell them where you are applying and who offers you employment for the changes to be of any use to them. And remember you do not have to tell the job centre why you are ending your claim, just need to supply and end date. http://refuted.org.uk/2013/12/29/cashforconsent/

Send them this it's a oldie but goody (Address ) - HARASSMENT WARNING - WARNING: PROTECTION FROM HARASSMENT ACT 1997 WARNING: COMMUNICATIONS ACT 2003. s127. Telephone Number: (your number) Re: Harassment by Telephone (date) Dear Sir/Madam Your Reference: (National Insurance Number) I am writing in relation to the telephone calls I have received from your organisation, which I deem to be personally harassing. I now require the telephone number listed above to be completely removed from your systems. I am of the view that your calling puts you in breach of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. I remember one visit to the job centre when the desk clerk asked me about something which I had covered fully on my job search record. I pointed this out to him and he said 'I didn't look at it' so I just smiled sweetly and said 'It's lucky I haven't got my recording device running today isn't it?' I've never seen anyone go from calm to all red and flustered - in the manner of Cameron - in such a short space of time and he seemed to view me somewhat wearily after that. Happy days...
