  1. Ingeus have mandated me to send out 40 speculative letters a week. I have to bring in 40 pre addressed envelopes each week with a covering letter and CV enclosed. They then take them away saying they will stamp and post them. I have issues with this and wish to lodge an objection based on the section in the WPG https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/505310/wp-pg-chapter-3a.pdf Which states: Please Note : Do not notify a participant to apply for multiple vacancies on one notification - you must issue a separate notification for each vacancy . So my question is should that also apply to them mandating me to send out speculative letters? One mandate per speculative letter ? I asked for a reconsideration as I feel it is not only a waste of time, I cannot find 40 business addresses that are within my range and would be viable job prospects let alone 160 which will be the total they are expecting as this activity lasts a month, I can send off to businesses that I have no hope of securing jobs with and quickly fill my quota but that would be pointless. I asked if my advisor could help with producing a list but they said it was my job to do that and lastly I am suspicious that they did not post my speculative letters at all and binned them to save postage, how would I go about proving this, I sneakily put one in with my friends address and it never arrived.
  2. I am mightily confused. I have been signing on for 12 months, at the start of my claim I signed a claimant commitment stating I will do X number of steps each week to find work, IE look in papers, ask family and friends, use UJM etc. I completed my job search online and always filled in my activity history on UJM, ensuring I recorded X number of steps as required in my claimant commitment. Part way through the year I was told not to use UJM instead I was given a paper template to fill that stated I must do 35 hours job search per week, this had a section to fill stating the time each task took. Some time later I was issued with a pie chart diagram which showed different activities I could include in my 35 hour job search. Now I have been given another paper template form which states I have to apply for and record 10 vacancies jobs per week. What the heck as happened to my claimant commitment, no where in that did I agree to a 35 hour week job search nor did it state when I signed it that it was a requirement. Secondly, I would never agree to applying for X amount of vacancies per week , what if the only suitable vacancies are ones I have already applied for. And now they have just reissued me a new claimant commitment to sign which is basically same as my old one except they have added “ engage with the work program” Can they enforce this 10 job application rule and what is in place to prevent me from just jotting down bogus applications. Obviously I am fulfilling my claimant commitment still but as there is no actual way to record that activity any more am I even obligated to carry it out. From what I can gather the 35 hour per week is only a suggestion and not enforceable as long as client shows they have took reasonable steps they cannot be sanctioned but I cannot find any info at all regarding the 10 vacancies per week.
  3. Hello I'm new to the forum and looking for some advice, I'm on ESA and have received a letter from Seetec where there putting me on a two week gateway employment activity from 10am till 2pm seems a bit long for someone with disability's also there asking for information regarding income, savings outgoing like council tax, rent and partner detail's im not sure why they would want this information im single and have no saving so I'm ok there, it seems i have to go or be sanctioned they don't know what's wrong with me how can they just threaten people without finding out. its funny last Thursday i had to go to the doctors because of lack of sleep and feeling depressed all the time he gave me some sleeping tablets which has helped me get 4-5 hrs sleep at night and a leaflet on moderate anxiety and depression, how im going to sit through 5hrs of someone trying to get me a job that i cant possibly do at this time. has anyone else had the same troubles with this company, Sorry for the ramblings Ivor
  4. I've seen a program on TV Benefits Britain I think, where High Court Enforcement agents demand payment of a debt from an obviously broke mother who gives them £50 of the money she needs to feed her kids. The debt had multiplied to about £3K from the original £1K. My first impression was that as with most TV featured bailiff and High Court programs that the agents were far kindlier than they are in normal, non TV, circumstances. Secondly, I thought that inability to pay was a defence against collection by HCEO's. Has that been dispensed with in the most recent legislation.
  5. Hi all I've just received a letter from the dwp saying I owe £700 and I must pay within the next two weeks. Its half twelve at night and I'm so stressed I can't sleep. Well actually I'm watching a really good film. Does anyone have a template letter I can send these people? First template letter, I want to know if this money is really owed by me which I doubt. Secondly a letter stating they can have £ per week from my benefit and stop sending me scary letters don't you have IT system to sort out. Thanks caggers
  6. So ive just come out of my sanction period just now from the 21st to the 30th , the sancation was for being 15 minitues late for a work program interview, there was really nothing i could do, the bus came to a stop in traffic jam and a heck of alot of passengers got on that day, very frustrated , i think it wasnt fare as i had no control what was happening, what do you think?
  7. now been referred to the 6 months placement Community Work Program, which is no problem, i have asked 2 job center advisers questions that they seem unwilling or unable to answer.... some background on me 44 years old male, suffer hayfever, high blood-pressure and 2x bad knees, I have also have worked 2 full time jobs in last 2 years that either ended due to being fixed length contract or injury. I have 4 children, 2 are Autistic (1 at home full time, 1 stays friday till sunday) i go for the 'provider' sign up monday... (Seetec) As it's a community work program for the benefit of community I shouldn't be taking a job that someone can be employed for?or makes profit for company and i will be working 30 hrs a week for no pay, just getting jobseekers, I assume i'm entitled to holidays just like anybody else who works over 16hrs a week? if not how can my lunch be un paid? I must surely being included in my attendance time. if i'm not classed as an employee and or don't get a contract of employment, will I be covered by insurance in case of a accident, if doing a job, rather than being member of public? also if im not an employee, what am i classed as? a trainee? observer? also i wont be subject to any of the disciplinary procedures ( which means they could use to there advantage) Basically my JSA advisor tried to bully me by classing me as a 'troublemaker' when i stood up to him, Due to the fact i asked about attending hospital appointments on Aug 6th and Aug 19th with my Autistic child, He said He could not see how having a autistic child should effect my ability of getting a job, and the CWP comes before looking after them.
  8. Hi, I'm going for an interview session soon about starting the Work Program. I do want to get help to get back to work, particularly help getting a part time job. But one that's suitable and doesn't make my health problems worse. Does anyone have any tips for being on the Work Program? I've learnt that when I do sign up it will then become mandatory for 2 years. I'd like to know about my rights on the Work Program as well as how to get the most out of it. I read stories about people being offered or forced into unsuitable work and I want to avoid that. I want to do things that will help me get back to work not just give the company money. For example I already volunteer and I'm concerned that the company will want me to drop that and do different voluntary work just so they can get money for putting me on it. Or putting me on internal courses that won't do me any good. So, any tips or info very welcome! Or links to anywhere you've found good info. Many Thanks.
  9. just a quick question really after my recent seetec appointments (which as always are a pain) anyway im on ESA and i am just wondering with regards to disability advisers in these places what happens if they don't have one as is the case with seetec at the moment because the previous left, do i still need to attend even with my agoraphobia and anxiety being made worse because of the fact i never know which adviser i will be seeing or whether they will give me random appointments just because they can and don't know im on ESA rather than JSA?
  10. Hello there, I found out today that I had been sanctioned for failing to attend a work program appointment on the 7th of march. I didn't attend this because on the 6th I was given a letter at the job centre telling me my time on the work program had finished. I also mentioned to the advisers on three separate occasions that the work program (pinnacle people) keep sending me letters asking me to attend. I was told to ignore them. So today I find out I have been sanctioned until the 16th. I thought I would just try and document this somewhere on the internet as I couldn't find anyone with a similar case to mine. My adviser told me to fill out a DR7 form. Also does anyone have any idea how long these things take to process.
  11. My friends laptop had several infected files and I have managed to clear them using Malware Bytes, and Avast. But I thought I would do a chkdsk c: /f /v /r to make sure everything is ok. On booting up I get the message 'autochk program not found - skipping autochk' Therefore there is no scan done. The laptop seems to be working fine otherwise, but this message pops up on every startup now. Any ideas? Obviously, the virus has corrupted certain files. ps. System restore doesn't work either, even though there are restore points available. pps. I hate Windows 8
  12. hi, just looking for a bit of advice, ive been on incapacity benefits for a few years after an accident suffer from chronic pain, basically house bound, i wont bore anybody with details, putting out the bin is a major expedition. anyway im in the back to work program ive got an appointment next month, it seems to me anyway absurd im in the back to work program not sure but from what i can see they have assesd me fit to work not sure really is this the case ? is there anything i can be doing appeals form filling in the mean time? i see countless horror stories of people having their benefits cut would be disastrous for me as i rely on my internet connection to order food. any advice greatly appreciated
  13. Hi everyone, hope you're all great. I have a question about whether, in my specific circumstances, I am compelled to participate in the governments Work program. My specific circumstances are as follows. I have been on the ESA (WRAG IR) due to long term mental health issues since 2009. In August 2012 I was given the option to voluntarily attend an information session at the local provider which I did. I was under the impression then that it was a voluntary commitment. A week or two after that I was informed that due to what I thought were extremely complex and unclear reasons, that I am a mandatory participant. I would prefer not to have to attend at the moment as firstly I think it has very little substantive value and secondly I am at a critical part of treatment and having to attend induces a lot of anxiety and stress that just retards the purpose of transitioning back to work. I have contacted CAB and they were unhelpful and confused about the regs so I did my own digging. Prior to 10/9/12 (it has changed now) in the guidance for providers document there are 6 categories of supposed mandatory ESA claimants. The one which best related to me is the one below. Existing claimamnt being someone who's first WCA was decided before the 'Pathways to Work' had ceased. 'Existing ESA (IR) WRAG with 3 or 6 Month Prognosis. Optional from WCA outcome WP ESA (IR) WRAG 3/6Mth Stock PG 5 Mandatory' http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/wp-pg-chapter-2.pdf This is the updated version. To me this implies it is optional from WCA outcome but it's in the mandatory category. I see this as ambiguous. My last WCA was in October and I haven't been informed of the prognosis estimate. I wanted to obtain some independent advice as I fear if I ask DWP directly they will fob me off or mis-interpret the convoluted regs anyway. can anyone spread some light on whether I am a mandatory participant or not?? Many thanks in advance:wink:
  14. ...or face sanctions. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/work-programme-memo-082.pdf This is not good news. Too ill to work means you're too ill to work. Being made to work for your benefits WILL tip people over the edge. More news here as well... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/9683811/Prepare-for-work-or-lose-your-benefits-long-term-sick-are-told.html
  15. hello everyone, new to the site so hear we go, i seen this on another site and it has really caught my attention. now the work program differs from the dwp,in that they are not a goverment authority,in the event you get a sanction doubt raised for non compliance, suing the dwp would be very hard, but would it be a better option,to look at going for the provider or better still the individual who raised the doubt, that would be your advisor. the act of sanctioning you will incur loss which is foreseeable,in other words they knew the effects a sanction would have on you, any thoughts.
  16. I've been on the work program for 6 months and have started to feel the re emergence of illness which I have suffered on and off most of my life. I should have good grounds to ask for a doctors note and begin the esa process until my condition improves or I am told by the gov I am fit for work. My concern is whether my contract with the work program will be restarted if I spend time on esa and then move back to jsa. So for instance, if I was put onto esa for 6 months now, I should only have 12 months left on the 2 year "program". My concern is if I recalimed jsa after this 6 months, the contract would begin again and I would restart from scratch with another 2 years to look forward to. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
