  1. When you renewed your road tax did you receive a reminder from DVLA?
  2. Typical of the DVLA. You can renew a passport within 6 months of its renewal and the Passport Agency will show the renewal date of the new passport for the full 10 years plus the extra few months where the applicant has renewed early (usually to meet the requirement of several countries where the passport needs to have at least 6 months before its expiry when the person travels).

    DVLA : Bit unfair??

They can only revoke your licence the once in respect of the accumulation of points. I suspect your new licence will show the full entitlement as starting from when you re-take your test again.
  4. The best way to declare SORN is to use the online service. You get a confirmation e-mail straight away which is your proof that the declaration was made. They also send the letter, but if they try their usual tricks then you have the e-mail to show them that they have cocked up.
  5. I concur with Crem. It is usual for traffic officers to give a verbal notice of intended prosecution at the time they report a person they have stopped. It goes something along the lines of "You will be reported for the question to be considered of prosecuting you for the offence of..........." . As long as information has been laid with the court within 6 months of the date of the offence and a summons issued then they are compliant with the time constraints they have.
  6. This thread might be of assistance to you:- http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?279729-Continuous-Licensing-Malarky
  7. You could write to them direct from NZ and it would be interesting to see how they respond to an address 12000 miles away:)
  8. If it was dangerous I'm sure the OP would find himself being prosecuted for dangerous driving, but he has been summonsed for speeding. I think that undermines your viewpoint completely.
  9. No, it wouldn't be is the short and sweet answer.
  10. Nonsense! Whilst it is breaking the law to drive at that speed in the UK it is not necessarily dangerous.
  11. Yes, disqualified means to be banned from driving for a period of time.
  12. The person who would be liable for any penalty charge notices would be whoever is named as the registered keeper on the V5. They could try and make representations to say they don't own the vehicle in the event of any P C N ' s being received, but as they are still listed as the registered keeper that could present problems for them.
  13. I would think a formal complaint for abuse of process would be the most appropriate course of action. Either you have committed an offwence under section 87 or you have committed an offence under section 33. They can't have it both ways. It is clear bully boy tactics with them trying to use 2 seperate offences in an attempt to bully you into naming the driver at the time of the alleged offence. Be prepared to take it beyond the first stage of the complaints procedure as you can be sure they will try and fob you off, but their behaviour is unacceptable.

    ID fraud RK?

Did your friend ever receive a V5 for this vehicle?
  15. No, I just stated that you were being obtuse. If you think I am being insulting then why not report my post. I think the OP is in a much better position than you to know that the redirection has ended, but you won't accept that. You usual comeback when someone points out the errors in your posts and your erroneous advice. It's unfortunate that you are unable to respond to alternative views to your own on CAG in a mature and friendly manner, and you feel it necessary to make derogatory comments.
  16. I'm not making assumptions, I'm seeing what the OP originally told us about the redirection having ended. Obviously that's not good enough for you and you feel the need to be obtuse.
  17. Because the OP said so in her opening post in this thread.
  18. As the post redirection has expired then he is not contactable.
  19. The case of Combined Parking Solutions v S Thomas was in a county court, so no legal precedent was set. They are scaremongering, so just ignore them, as others have already advised you.
  20. I'm not sure about getting points on your licence but it is possible to be disqualified from driving for non Road Traffic Act offences, such as for not paying maintenance for children (the CSA would take action for this). Enforcement in England and Wales - Child Support Agency
  21. Unfortunately for you your punishment was for failing to disclose driver details and not for doing 35 in a 30. What you have to do now is to look at how to deal with it. One option is to appeal against the sentence, another is to contact the court and inform them of your situation and ask for time to pay. Whatever option you chose you will need to take prompt action as time is not on your side.
  22. Is the date of the alleged contravention the 22nd January 2009? What date did they send out the P C N to you and when did you receive it?
  23. Matt, London Borough of Hounslow issue their P C N ' s under the TMA 2004, and they are a combined P C N and Notice to Owner so the next stage would be to take it to PATAS.
  24. Usually if a car is untaxed and being used it is more than likely that it is also uninsured.
