  1. Buggers!! I got the statement in the post and noticed the payment date for next month was the 9th (it had been the 6th this month) so I phoned Nationwide up to see if they would do anything about the interest, and much to my surprise they agreed to withdraw the interest charge, in addition to the £20 late payment fee. I was so looking forward to locking horns with them too:)
  2. The bummer is that my partner and I searched long and hard to find the furniture items we wanted, so we are loath to get them to come and pick the stuff up, but I think if we dispute the payment with the credit card company, that might cause B & Q to pay attention.
  3. I am having fun and games with B & Q. They delivered some bedroom furniture on the 3rd June. However 2 items were missing. This was identified by the driver. I phoned their home delivery service and told them of this and they offered me a delivery date of the 5th July!! I asked to speak to a supervisor but I was told none were available. I told the lady to get one to phone me the next day. You can guess what happened. I've taken this up with their customer service team and they have managed to bring the date forward to the 28th June. About as much use as a chocolate fireguard to me. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next? I'm tempted to phone up the credit card people and dispute the payment. Thanks in anticipation.
  4. As it happens, I just might have! Checked my Nationwide credit card statement online this afternoon and found they had hit me with a £20 late payment charge and £4.36 in interest. I was a day late in getting the payment to them! I phoned them and they have refunded the late payment charge but not the interest. Cocky git on the phone when I mentioned the OFT recommendations of no more than a £12 fee said "its just a suggestion".Looks like I could have my battle after all:D
  5. I recently found this forum, having fallen foul of Alliance & Leicesters penalty charges for exceeding my overdraft limit by £26 ( as a result of an unexpected vets bill of £530). I was looking at two £25 charges and additional interest and other fees. I was looking forward to a good fight with them over the charges, having had the usual response from them after writing to them to explain the circumstances. And then what did they do??? They wrote to me and asked me to phone them and then they told me they would be refunding the charges!!!!!! What complete and utter b'stards!!!! I was so looking forward to taking this one all the way!!!
  6. The vacating fee seems the same as a mortgage discharge fee. Northern Rock have just charged me £250 for this, having just sold off my flat and paid off the mortgage. I guess being a customer of theirs for 16 years doesn't really count for much.
  7. Good morning, I have recently sold my old flat and paid off the mortgage. For the privilige of doing this Northern Rock have charged me a mortgage discharge fee of £250. This seems rather excessive to me. Has anyone ever challenged these fees and been successful? Thanks in anticipation, Rob S
