  1. If you don't live in the UK or they can detect considerable foreign account access or transactions, then they will freeze accounts. Have you been 100% accurate with the information you have provided to Santander?
  2. No, you don't send letters. You do nothing. Wait for them to issue PAP letter advising that they would be issuing a claim, if they ever get around to this. If you send letters at this stage, it prompts them to look at your debts more closely and then if they disagreed with your SB argument, they might then issue PAP letter. What type of debts are these and approx values ? When did you last make any repayment or admit to owing the debts in writing. Lowells buy large volumes of debts and they only issue court claims on a small percentage of the debts.
  3. Depending on your finances, try to find a room to rent somewhere as a lodger. If you will struggle to afford rent, then go to visit your local Councils Housing department, but make sure you take ID documents with you. Once you find Housing to rent, you may be able to claim benefits depending on your situation, so use an online benefits calculator such as Entitledto or Turn2us. You never had many rights in the situation you were in. Your Dad never had to consider you as a tenant and could ask you to leave when they needed you to leave the property.
  4. Boris who? I think he will disappear mostly, apart from writing newspaper columns designed to annoy the people he dislikes the most. He has young children to help bring up and earns more from making speeches, writing columns and books etc. As a politician, going by media coverage, he was struggling financially to cover all of his outgoings, so I suspect, he was looking to stop being a politician soon anyway. A recent poll for Uxbridge constituency, which took into account tactical voting, had Labour on about 50% and Tories on about 38%.
  5. According to DHL, if you have an account with them, the sender can pay all of the duties upfront. You would have to check the process with them.
  6. We don't think you will be asked to attend an interview, unless there are other changes of circumstances not yet informed about. If you claim for Housing rent, make sure you advise whoever pays the housing about the non dependent.
  7. Nothing may happen, as the overpayment was dealt with. It is only if there are other changes in circumstances that you have not told them about, where they may contact you. And even then they would send a letter saying that they want to check your current circumstances and ask for information.
  8. Another article that points to problems with UK's financial position. Central Government cut funding to local authorities and they then made decisions which have led to bankruptcy. Woking council declares bankruptcy with £1.2bn deficit | Local politics | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Previous Tory leadership embarked on risky investment spree involving hotels and skyscrapers
  9. The Home Insurance policy schedule, should confirm how much they will cover alternative accommodation costs for. If you go down the legal route, the FOS won't touch any complaint. And I am not sure issuing Court claims is going to speed up the claim works. It might be worth contacting newspaper consumer rights journalists, as I suspect this will encourage Axa to become much more energetic in dealing with your claim, if they look like they will get bad publicity, causing them loss of business. Daily Mail/This is Money.co.uk have a financial page, where they will take a look at interesting consumer problems, to see if they can resolve. helen.crane@thisismoney.co.uk You could get your own Independent loss assessor involved. It may be worth finding local assessors and having a conversation about the current situation. Home - The Institute of Public Loss Assessors LOSSASSESSORS.ORG A Loss Assessor represents policyholders when they need to submit an insurance claim, and our members have experience in dealing with all types of claim. And speak to Axa about the date your complaint was registered on their system. Tel no. 0300 024 1277 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm Or email HouseholdComplaints.INS@axa.co.uk
  10. Off grid living has to be the way forward? Small cabin somewhere with own well for water, solar panels for electric, wood burning stove for heating/cooking. Perhaps this site needs an off grid forum? Problem with this idea, is that they might not have Internet access.
  11. There is a Government.uk page that lists number of small boats and numbers of people. Numbers are down, but the reason for this may be down to the weather being too good. If the beaches on either side of the channel have more locals and holidaymakers etc around, it makes it more difficult for large numbers of people to get into the boats to make the crossing. As they will be spotted and reported/stopped. So if the weather's stays good, I suspect the numbers will remain low compared to last year. But wait until the Autumn and I think you will see more boats crossing with large numbers.
  12. If you want to go to the FOS and try to get a final conclusion that is OK, provided that you understand that someone from the FOS might call to try to end the complaint quickly I.e., you have settled full and final, as a consequence of breaking contract due to no MOT, the Insurers have acted fairly etc etc etc. If you then decided to continue the complaint after the first FOS call, you would have to think what outcome you are likely to achieve. I understand the argument about paying the money to the Insurers under duress, but at the end day, if the policy wording says no MOT invalidates the Insurance cover, then the Insurers would be entitled to the return of the money paid out. My gut instinct on a case like this, is admit the mistake, pay the price and don't keep digging.
  13. The OP's father could pay the £2860 and complain to the FOS, but the FOS might conclude that the parties have agreed settlement, so no further investigation is required. Worse possibility, is that Markerstudy, believe they have a case for asking OP's father to pay them more money that they have had to pay to third party and want to pursue this, as the full & final settlement was not really agreed, as evidenced by ongoing FOS complaint.
  14. Personally, I think you should pay the Insurers the £2860 as full and final settlement. The problem of going down the FOS complaints route, is that the Insurers decide to dig their heels in and want your father to be responsible for the third parties claim. Arguably, the car should not have been on the road and the fact that the car was on road ( even though roadworthy) has led to the Insurers having to pay a large value claim. But of course it depends on what your fathers own policy stated. The FOS would want to see the actual policy to understand the exact legal position. Insurers don't normally take people to court to claim back money they think is owed to them, but this cannot be ruled out. So you really need to consider how much hassle you can handle. Go down the complaints route which could take many months and without knowing what the outcome might be. Or just pay the £2860, if this will conclude the matter.
  15. So as non refundable under terms, then you don't have official way of challenging. You could contact credit card company and request section s.75 refund on the basis of an error (your error), but they might not accept this. And even if they did accept and refund, the Insurance company would chase you for the debt owed.
  16. Go back a few years ago and there were some companies that did not have a standing charge. They just charged a little bit more as a standard rate for usage. And for low energy users, it worked out cheaper. But the companies that offered no standing charge went out of business, when market energy costs increased. I don't like standard charges either, but for most of the supply contracts available, they are part of the deal and have been for a very long time. Hopefully technology will come to the rescue where most energy needs can be met locally and there is less need for the big 6 energy companies.
  17. Yes the letter is dealing with this as a civil matter similar to shop lifting revenue protection. And Amazon are unlikely report to the Police. However, if I were being accused of obtaining refunds for items I had received, I would be extremely annoyed. I would want to demonstrate that I had acted properly and only obtained refunds for items not received. And therefore I would report to Police. Someone has acted dishonestly Why do Amazon believe the items were collected? Does the OP know people from the Amazon shop hub or Amazon courier? Has the OP been taken advantage by other people? I.e., told what items to order and how to obtain refunds. And the OP has provided the order and collection information to other people, not knowing what they would do with the information? Sometimes when you see situations like this, there appears to be far more to the story than what we are being told. There are social media pages on all sorts of scams to make money. And one of these could well be involving online purchase and refunds, with people obtaining a commission for each order.
  18. Yes. You are being accused of criminal actions to obtain goods for free from Amazon. The Police probably won't investigate, but at least you can provide a police reference number.
  19. You would think that Amazon's own records would confirm items never reached the collection point. As Amazon would have a complete record from warehouse to delivery/collection at the hub point, it would take some evidence for me to believe that the items were never received. Hopefully the SAR details from Amazon will provide the missing information. I would suggest contacting the Police as you are being accused of commiting criminal offences
  20. For example 1 the items were delivered on 12/2/23 and refund requested due to non delivery on 13/2/23. This is a bit strange. As soon as items are delivered to a hub store, the person ordering the item receives email and text confirming the items are ready to collect plus confirm instructions for collection e.g., ID required. And as soon as items are collected, am email and text confirms items collected What is strange, is that a refund was requested only 1 day after the items were delivered to the hub store. If the allegation is that someone at the hub store has stolen the items, then go to the Police, report the thefts and get crime reference numbers. If you are willing to make statements to Police, perhaps you may be believed. As the consequences of making false statements to Police would be a serious offence.
  21. Amazon don't normally allow high value items to be delivered to a delivery hub shop. The items have to be delivered to a residential or business address where the person ordering can confirm receipt. I ordered an item, where it had to be delivered to my home address and I was issued with a security code that I had to provide the courier driver. And where I have had items delivered to an Amazon Hub Shop, I have had to show photo ID to collect and the shop has a device to electronically confirm the item was collected. And within minutes of collection, I received emails and text to confirm it had been collected. Amazon only allows a few days for people to collect items from hub shops. They send emails and texts to confirm the date/time that the order must be collected or the items will be returned to Amazon. So this all sounds a bit strange and hopefully a subject access request for all of the orders will reveal what happened with each order.
  22. My presumption is that the Insurance company wrote the policyholder asking to be contacted And they were aware the MOT had run out. And the Insurers asked for the 3k based on the policy requiring vehicles to meet all legal standards required. But as Ethel says, you could ask for proof before paying the money to them.

To work - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK If the work force has increasingly got older on average and less people being born, my guess is that older people are leaving work quicker than any replacements are found. And even if older workers went part time which is a popular option, then there are hours that may need be covered by recruitment.
