  1. Update: Am loving not having any nuisance phone calls from CapQuest anymore! Aneurysm has grown, just waiting to hear from the consultant about what they wanna do about it. Scary times x
  2. Been in the clear for five years, went for my last scan results the other week and found out it's bleeding again. Angiogram on Wednesday to assess and decide what to do next. I got enough worries right now x
  3. I don't really want them to have my new address, not at the minute anyway. Don't need the stress x
  4. The phone calls and voicemail messages just kept coming from CapQuest I finally changed my phone number. A little annoyed because I've had the same number for over 15 years but the stress of 10+ phone calls from CapQuest a day was just too much for me. I recently found out that my brain haemorrhage is bleeding again which means more surgery, so I think I have enough on my plate to be worrying about without CapQuest adding to it! x
  5. Thank you my friends, as always your help and advice is much appreciate x
  6. Had a telephone call from CapQuest yesterday. I didn't answer it but they left a message saying they had tried to contact me and for me to get in touch with them. I have recently moved house and they don't have my new address. Any advice on what I should or should not do now? x
  7. Quick update - Haven't heard a single thing from CapQuest since that last letter asking me to provide my previous address x
  8. My friend is looking to get a temporary credit card as she is moving house and needs £500 for a deposit on her new place. She has a poor credit rating and the ones she has tried (who claim to offer cards even to people with poor ratings) have all declined her application. Her credit rating is poor because she didn't pay a £74 mobile phone bill which was in dispute and, as far as I know, is STILL in dispute. Other than that she has no other bad credit. Can anyone advise on any companies who would be likely to accept her application? Once she has paid the £500 off she will not be using the card again, she just needs it for this one off emergency situation. Many thanks x
  9. I have posted a thread today regarding the same thing. I have had a look at that link IdaInFife but it is referring mostly to bank charges. What is the procedure to claim penalty charges back from a catalogue? x
  10. Wow I can't believe they are allowed to be so underhand about things I also cannot remember where I was living in 1999, I would have to ask friends or family (for those who don't want to read over the whole thread, I had a brain haemorrhage in Sept 2007 and my long term memory is fried, my short term memory isn't far behind it either!). I shall not respond to the letter and see what (if anything) they come back with next. Should I inform them when I have moved house of my new address or just ignore them completely? I will keep you updated on any further correspondence from them. Thank you everyone for all your help and advice and guidance on this. It was really stressing me out (my migraines have come back with a vengence recently) but following the advice given on this website has made the process so much easier to deal with. Thank you all xx
  11. I recently was unable to make a couple of monthly payments with my catalogue and have incurred a number of £12 'penalty' charges. I have spoken to them and explained that as my working hours had recently been cut down I was struggling at the moment to make the required monthly amounts and that giving me penalty charges was not going to help me get my account up to date and could I pay a certain amount off each month until either a) my account was up to date or b) my work gave me more hours. They said yes to this but then said the minimum amount they would accept is £48 a month (which is only £2 a month less than I was paying originally so I am still struggling to pay the amount each month) and if I didn't make the payment on the due date I would keep incurring £12 penalty charges. I have been advised by someone from this website that I can claim the penalty charges back without it affecting my using the catalogue again once my account is up to date. Could anyone here tell me what I have to do to start this process please? Thank you x
  12. Thank you dx100uk, I'll start the thread in the catalogue forum. As for CapQuest, what should I do now in regards to the letter they have sent me? Why do you think they are asking me for that information? x
  13. Yes I've had £12 penalty charges and will continue to get them if I don't make the payments on time. How do I reclaim them and if I reclaim them will it mean I can't use the catalogue again once my account is up to date? This is what it says about CapQuest: Name ********** Address ******************* (this was my previous previous address) Date of birth **/**/**** Account type Bank Account number ******* Account start date 30/04/1999 Opening balance £ 1,523 Repayment frequency Monthly Date of default 10/11/2007 Default balance £ 1,523 It says the was DEFAULT going back to December 2009 right up to date. There's no other information in this section on CapQuest x
  14. CapQuest is on there as Default and so is my catalogue but I have spoken with the catalogue and I am paying that off, it's not much, I just missed a payment because my hours had been reduced in work and my wages weren't so good that month. They are the only two x
  15. Sorry to sound thick but what is this and how do I do it? Thank you to everyone who has replied so far. I was a bit bewildered as to why they would be asking me for information that I would presume they already had. I am not going to respond to their letter. I am possibly moving house sometime in September too, should I let them know my new address when I've moved? x
  16. I have today received a letter from CapQuest as follows: "Further to your recent correspondence and in order to process your communication further, we would request you provide the following information by 19th August to assist us in resolving this matter: Details of residence at time this account was opened: 30/04/1999. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please note that this is not a demand but a request." Surely they would already have this information? x
  17. Yeah it looks like it's an overdraft. I honestly can't remember when it is from though so will take their word that it is from the dates they are saying. Thank you for the budget sheet, gonna have a look at it now x
  18. Here is the letter received from CapQuest today: "Debt Purchased from: Abbey Balance: £1133.20 Thank you for your recent correspondence. CapQuest can confirm that Section 74 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 states that an overdraft on a current account will not fall within the documentation requirements of the Consumer Credit Act. Therefore we are not obliged to provide a copy of the agreement for the above account. We return your £1.00 fee. We can confirm that we have requested statements for the above account and these will be forwarded to you when received. Please find attached a copy of the notice of assignment. Yours sincerely, Jane Cubberley Collections Admin Dept" Attached to that letter is a copy of this letter: "We hereby give notice of the transfer of the debt due to us from you in respect of the balance outstanding as at the 27th May 09 on your Abbey Banking Account. The balance due as at the date of this letter is £1523.20. On 03 july 09 your account was sold (by way of assignment) to CapQuest Investments Limited who has appointed one of their group companies, CapQuest Debt Recovery Limited to manage your account on their behalf. We will shortly send a statement of account to you. All further communications concerning that statement or any other matter relating to your account and all payment must be addressed to CapQuest Debt recovery Limited. Yours sinceerely, Sarah Marshall Senior manager - recoveries" Any advice on what I should do next? I'm not trying to shirk out of paying this debt, my problem is that I simply cannot afford the £25 a month they were taking from me. At the moment I can probably only afford £10 a month. I work 31 hours a week at just above minimum wage. My rent is £412 pm, council tax £79 pm etc. I am really struggling financially at the moment to just survive The annoying telephone calls have stopped (thank god!) x
  19. I have received a letter back from CapQuest and have scanned it to my laptop but am not sure how to attach images? x
  20. How long should I give them before I answer my phone and tell them to [Go Away] x
  21. My letter has been delivered and signed for at CapQuest offices. They are still telephoning me though (twice today already) x
  22. Ok so I have posted my first letter to CapQuest today, sent by recorded delivery. Will let you know when/if I get a reply x
