  1. i dont know what the overpayment is. it doesnt say on the letter. I've phoned them and the guy who will interview me said we will work out what is the overpayment during the interview I think
  2. yeah I did some googling today...im really worried sick now. I won't try to lie myself out of it as there is no point. I didnt do it on purpose, being tagged as a 'benefit fraud' is the last thing I want to be. never had any problems with the authorities before. Its just when my son was born we were so happy with the missus as we've been trying for more than 2 years, I didnt even think about that I have to do it. to be honest - i wouldnt even call HMRC regarding tax credits, if they wouldnt call me - as I've told them before that my missus is pregnant and she's due in September
  3. i dont have any old award notices. HB/CTB benefit ended about 2 months ago as we signed the council house agreement on the 11th of Feb and we were no longer entitled to HB/CTB. i dont think I've filled any review forms
  4. this claim might be about 1,5 year old as we dont have HB as we were given council accomodation in the past month. but then my job changed recently and my wages went down so we might be entitled to it again.
  5. Hi recently I got a letter from my council about interview under caution (which is tomorrow) regarding 'undeclared tax credits' I was claiming housing benefit and council tax benefit. in September 2009 my son was born which had effect on my tax credits - and I think council is talking about that increase. to be honest I didnt even think to report that change as I didnt think this will any impact. I've never claimed benefits before and that whole system was new for me. what might be the possible outcome ? PRISON ? im 27yo, have a 1,5yo son and my missus is 7 months pregnant now, I work 20h/week - I've never told my missus as she's heavily pregnant and this will crush her...
  6. I've done some reasearch and will follow advice given here: http://www.litrg.org.uk/News/2011/2007-08-paye-under will see what they will come up with
  7. she received a letter today with the cheque to fill in and we're expected to pay the whole amount by the 16th of March now...we can't afford this as we're in the middle of moving houses now as we've been offered accomodation from the housing association. i dont know what to do with this now...
  8. + how can they send her underpayment letter now, when last year she made a tax return claim and received about 200 quid in overpaid tax !
  9. it doesnt say anything on it about repaying. no payment slips, nothing. we can't afford it now and I don't really understand why it took them 3 years to sort this out !
  10. my missus got the tax underpayment letter for the year 2007/2008 for the sum of £320. what is going to happen now ? I know these are usually taken of your salary, but my missus doesnt work since last year. we had a baby in Sep 2009, she was on maternity leave but she hasnt come back to work, so she stays st home since then. any help with this ?
  11. the thing is that this policy is already cancelled and now I have an alternate cover, but they're making problems now on Sureterm Direct side. they told me to send the proof of alternate cover so they will lower the outstanding balance. Today they told me it would have to be another week as they need to send it to the insurer. And they not gonna release my 'no claims discount proof' until I clear the outstanding balance. I've told them that I need to know the revised balance to be able to pay it and I need that proof as my current insurer will cancel my policy. So they're saying that I would have to pay this in full now, so they can release it. but what's the point of me paying it in full and then chasing them for the money that they will owe me ???
  12. the thing is, guy on the email customer service said to me that if I provide a proof of alternative cover, they will drop the amount by about 30 quid. So I think they will drop the cancelation charge. Just want to know where do I stand with paying the remaining of the policy, as it's clearly not my fault that they don't want to insure my car
  13. Hi guys recently I had to sell my car (vauxhall frontera 4x4) due to personal circumstances. my car was insured through Sureterm Direct and ther policy was with Chaucer. apparently it was a 4x4 car policy only (which I wasnt completely clear about that). I've changed to a smaller car which isnt 4x4 and I have contacted Sureterm and they've said that I won;t be able to change car details on my current policy as Chaucer Insurance will not insure my car because it's not a 4x4. I only had 48 days till my renewal date and I was told I have to cancel policy and I will be charged for the remaining of contract. today I had a letter requesting a payment of 83 pounds in the next 7 days (53 pounds reamining on the policy and 30 Sureterm cancellation fee). can somebody tell where do I stand with this ? can I challenge it ? as it's clearly not my fault that they can't insure my car.

  19. im really !!!!ed off now ! from ther start - couple of weeks ago I've requested a quote for a XL tv package online. went through all the forms and in the end it said that somebody will be in touch with me in the next 48 hours to confirm the price as I didnt buy anything yet. after 3 days nobody phoned me back, I went away for a couple of days, came back and what a surprise - THEY'VE TURNED THE BLOODY XL PACKAGE ON ! I went online an saw that I will pay twice as much now ! so I've phoned them to cancel it and the guy said that I will get every penny back. Today was the billing date and I've been charged for the full package ! I phoned them now, explained everything and the guy said "your account is in credit now" and I told him that I dont want my account to be in credit - I want the bloody money back to my account ! and he said that I pay by direct debit so they can't send me the money back to my account and I would have to go through my bank and do something called "identity claim" or something like that. apparently it might take as long as 21 days and I will get a cheque ! I JUST WANT MY MONEY NOW AS IT'S CLEARLY NOT MY FAULT ! is there any way somebody can help me ? clearly they've changed my direct debit without me agreeing to, I still have all the email saying that somebody will be in touch with me regarding the upgrade.
  20. great advice as always johnny. can you point me to some letter for an accurate reply ? Thx
