virgin media suspended as i am over my credit limit
what_todo replied to what_todo's topic in Telecoms - mobile or fixed
thanks for posting Ts&C's after reading page 9 as said i have seen "In addition to monthly bills being sent, some customers may be informed that they have had a credit limit applied to their account. If a credit limit is exceeded then Virgin Media may restrict service without notice. If a telephone line is restricted for non payment, any attempted calls may be diverted to a message routing the call to Virgin Media" nowhere does if say that the telly and internet is cut off. -

the account is not in my name but the thing is, the bill is a month ahead of time and the tv and internet is up to date yet they still get cut off. other then the monthly price plan what in increase do they do to the bill? if just the phone was cut off i wont mind as much, is cus the telly and net done was well when the bill for them is fully up to date and there is no unpaid bill. -

the below is a quote from the OFT What happens now? We expect card issuers to recalculate their default charges in line with the principles in our statement to achieve consistency with unfair contract terms legislation. We have decided that, as a provisional step, it is appropriate to give priority to addressing default charges which exceed a simple monetary threshold of £12, in line with our duty to use our resources to tackle contract terms that have the potential to cause the most serious harm to consumers. We are not suggesting that default fees should be set at £12, and a court will certainly not consider that a default fee is fair just because it is below the threshold. Our presumption will be that credit card default charges set above this level are unfair unless there are exceptional business factors (relevant factors are set out in paragraphs 5.9 -5.11 of the Statement). Where we conclude that a fee above the threshold is unfair we are likely to challenge the charge but will take into account all the circumstances in deciding whether to do so or not. On the other hand, in line with our priorities, we do not propose at present to consider legal action where charges are set below £12. or you can read the full OFT's action on credit card default charges at http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/reports/financial_products/oft842a.pdf
