  1. I know they do say accidental cover, but forget to mention its only limited to home entertainment,TV,PC,SAT Box etc. Have you check the policy to see what would be covered under a/d to contents?
  2. Our process is if a DD rejects, letter is sent saying we will reapply,if it rejects again a 2nd letter is sent saying we will reapply,if it rejects again a final canellation letter is sent confirm on what date it will be cancelled unless the outstanding is paid. If the DD mandate was cancelled,we would send a new DD mandate,if no reply another mandate,if still not reply, cancellation. Some companies take the cancellation of a DD mandate as instruction by "you" to cancel the policy & will do so. They do not have to sent 7 day canellation by recorded.
  3. Has anybody tried using these? I got £950 worth,on the back they say can be used in any Thomas Cook,Going places shops,or phone or online. I tried online when i got to the payment screen,no where to input voucher codes.....called Thomas Cook, they advised that they do not have the facility to take the voucher codes online or over the phone, only in store. I checked their website and there is a recent "update" and i only found this under "Q & A" If you want to use the vouchers online or phone, you have to pay by card & then send the vouchers in to get a refund against your card......no benefit there then cos you will lose any online discount as soon as you go in the store..... If the terms have only been updated on their website how do they expect others to know?
  4. they should not charge you anything as they should be cancelling due to the fact that they are unable to provide cover. You should only be charged on a pro rata basis for your existing vehicle. Go straight to their complaints department.
  5. most contents policy will cover accidental damage. They may ask for a report to confirm the damage etc,do not dispose of the TV or they will not pay the claim
  6. if the claim was made during your current renewal period, they should not have charged? Have they charged you an amendment fee or something?
  7. their u/w criteria proberbly also states that "the PH must reside in the UK" as they are emmigrating they do not meet the criteria and should therefore cancel.
  8. regardless of what car you have had an accident in: "have you had any accidents, losses or claims in the last 3 years" is the usual scripted question. it has to be disclosed,if added now to your policy it should not make any difference to your premium but will possibly at renewal. If you have not been convicted then you do not need to disclose,if you have and you are attending a course to remove the points, again this has to be disclosed but should not increase your premium until renewal.
  9. they should not be charging as they are unable to continue to cover as you no longer meet the under writing criteria. They should cancel on a pro rata basis.
  10. if phones4U are saying no fraud, call their bluff and ask to see "Your" signed contract agreement & copies of "your" proofs of identity that "you"supplied". Do you have contract phone with another supplier? i.e why would i take one out if i got one etc...... was it a local store? pop in and see them;)
  11. really depends on the reason and how long you have been with that company and if you have any other products with them (home ins, pet, travel etc) they may write off the cancellation charge. If policy has to be cancelled for underwriting reasons,i.e you have a new car they wont insure or a driver etc there should be no chargres.
  12. Insurance companys can with hold ncd until an o/s balance is paid, however, you can request a letter to confirm when your policy started & finished and if there were any claims made. You will then have to get the NCD prior to swinton. This will then show your current insurers that has been no break in cover etc.
  13. i think you have been given the totally the wrong advice, even conned. To amend you ncd from 7 to 6 should make no diff to your premium as the most that companys will accept is 5 (65 or 70%) as this is the maxium discount they will apply. once you cancelled the 1st policy with a claim the full premium is due,you also now have a new policy with a fault claim which will increase the premium. start the complaint ball rolling and state that you have been misold a new policy when there was no need to cancel the existing policy.
  14. We have a 4 year old diagnosed with autism last year. every day a struggle getting her to school, meltdowns etc. We cannot even entertain the thought of trying public transport as the very mention of train or bus throws into a meltdown, she can watch the trains, but take her onto a platform and it then kicks off, i have to hold her to stop the thrashing about etc. any how,we receive the middle rate care comp £47.10 and have already been refused the motability, but could we ask to swap and pay the diff? as the higher rate mobility is £49.10. My grand parents live over 30 miles away, which would mean 2 trains and a few hours travelling, school is 2 miles, mother in law who looks after her & picks her up in the afternoons is also 2 miles. By refusing public transport,we are virtual prisoners in our own home and feel she is missing out.
  15. had an ongoing dispute with FD due to loan & CC,agreed reduced payments, but due to an error on their part interest was incorrectly calculated, which they sorted. But from what i can remember, they passed on to their in house collection Metropolitan (i say in house, when they are based in the Phillipines). Dont remember getting any warning letter, just the 1st letter from Metro, saying pay full amount in 7 days or we will instruct solicitors. In a panic i called them, they said full amount or they will put a charge on the house, they then said how much can you afford, etc I plucked a figure out of the air as they were pushing. Since then I have decided to take a look back see if FD have acted correctly. Who do I CCA or DSAR FD or MCS? would like to hear that call again the woman was really arrogant & pushy.
  16. yes they are money spinners, thats why certain insurance companys are now charging for "gauranteed hire car" following an accident etc. They will now not give you a courtesy car while yours is in for repairs.
  17. every fender bender better call out for the recovery vehicles then;), when i had an accident they said go to a garage & get a quote for the repairs, not a mention of dont drive etc only is it drivable? yes.
  18. I think the OP still has a case,if you claim etc from my experiance, the claims people always ask "is the car drivable?" if not they will arrange recovery. As the car was drivable & no visible signs of damage. What does their policy wording say under "if you have an accident"?
  19. check the policy wording under "if we cancel your insurance...... or if you are paying by direct debit...." normally if you are paying by direct debit there should be no extra charges and they should only be charging you for the days on cover that they have provided until the cancellation.
  20. ive never heard of a company voiding a policy because there is more than one car in the family. Have they confirmed this writing?
  21. Have they say why they have voided the policy? by the details you have given, assume they are suggesting fronting?
  22. Another thing to consider is that the wifes insurance company maybe looking into cancelling her policy as she has knowingly let an uninsured & unsupervised driver to use the vehicle. As Im sure the Police would have been in contact with them to check insurance details.
  23. he can take a cash settlement from the other insurer and repair the damage himself. if the other company has written the vehicle off and have made you an offer, you ask to buy the vehicle back, for which they will make a deduction from the offer. only category C & D total losses are allowed to be repaired
  24. Id check your previous tariff charges etc before agreeing anything. You might end up paying more than your old supplier.
  25. ive only just just noticed that the sky line rental has gone up from £10 (when i originally signed up in June) to £11. I emailed them as to why,got a reply saying "to improve their television services"....... why should we subsidise the TV service?
