Insurance on courtesy car
vusys1 replied to lg33's topic in Insurance/Assurance Companies (Not Car Insurance)
the OP said the insurers or the garage swapped the insurance over they have no right to amend the OP policy cover without his permission also the insurers would not re-insure him and passed him onto someone else. If the PH has paid his full premium for the year 2008-2009 and the accident has occured during that period and if his policy states that they will provide a CC for the duration of the repairs following an accident (regardless of blame),why should he pay and another yearly premium just so can drive around in a courtesy car? -
Insurance on courtesy car
vusys1 replied to lg33's topic in Insurance/Assurance Companies (Not Car Insurance)
if its is part of your insurance that they will provide a courtesy car whilst yours is being repaired,it should be down to the insurers to continue to provide cover for the CC. regardless if your policy has expired with them(cheaper quote elsewhere etc). Why should you have to pay extra insurance for service you have already paid for in your premium? -

Not a big problem but an annoyance. I bought a PAYG mobile from a local P4U shop on Saturday and had to buy £10 top up aswell total £79.95. I then saw the same mobile phone on the O2 website for £48.08 & no need to buy a top up credit. so I checked out their online website about returns etc,I found their 7 day price garauntee where you can get a full refund in 7 days etc. so i took the phone back to a city centre store on the Thursday. Explained I could return but i would also have to give up the £10 credit on the sim. No way! 7 day returns say you keep the sim, they say that only applys to online & over the phone purchases. So I ask where my terms & conditions are? he pointed to an instore made peice of A4 paper pinned to the wall. Advised I will phone to complain and left. Called P4U, they said I can keep the sim and to take the phone back(they gave me a ref number) so back I went diff store but same city. No sorry cant change you got to go back to the store you bought it from, again where are my T&C,she also pointed to an A4 peice of paper in laminated plastic. Back on the phone, they confirmed that any store should refund, updated my account, back into store & finally refunded. Manager asked why are you returning the phone, said cheaper elsewhere and she said"and they(meaning head office) let you bring it back" I thought hang on 7 day return policy you made it not me. My main beef is that once you leave the shop, you do not know what your T&C`s nuff said..

Direct Line NCD ripoff
vusys1 replied to grumblebuttock's topic in Insurance/Assurance Companies (Not Car Insurance)
their website states:: "Every year you hold a policy in your own name without making a claim, you build up a no claims discount which saves you money. If you go on to accept a policy with us, you will be asked to provide proof of your earned no claims discount. This proof should be a renewal notice from your previous Insurance Company, or a letter on headed paper from the Insurance Company. Every year you hold a policy in your own name without making a claim, you build up a no claims discount which saves you money. In certain circumstances we may be able to obtain this for you. N.B. This no claims discount can only be used on one policy at any one time, and must have been used on a policy within the last two years." the online policy documents are also vague: No Claims Discount "However, if a claim is made against your policy, we may reduce your no claims discount." Was there a scale on your schedule showing how they step back you ncd years? -

vusys1 replied to grumblebuttock's topic in Insurance/Assurance Companies (Not Car Insurance)
5 years is the maxium discount most insurers will give (not sure who would offer more)think LV offer 70% not sure if that also equates to 5 years. although i do see your point, if you supply evidence of 9 years ncd and all docs say if you have a claim we will reduce your ncd by 2 years this shoud be 7 years. -
Help First Direct closing current account for credit card debt

i wish more companys would ask for driving licences on application as it would cut down the claims we have to pay out to TP`s after they have been hit by non licence, banned, expired, international (more than 12 months etc),licence holders who drive illegaly then rack up the costs to insurers & you & me when the insurers have to settle TP claims under article 75 of the rta. the amount of claims i have seen paid out is horrendous,it sometimes takes 2 or 3 as we will only ask for a licence following a total loss, but as we have already settle previous claims theres not a lot we can do.

Been paying too much for pet insurance
vusys1 replied to Ypnos's topic in Insurance/Assurance Companies (Not Car Insurance)
did you take the policy over the internet or phone? if net you would be fault if phone ask for the call to be checked -
Maybe, but as the OP stated if they dont tell you the hire company T&C or which hire company, how are you going to know. The OP has possibly paid extra for this benefit (as its offered with a premium policy or pay extra for an MS standard policy). all insurers could play the T & C card and just issue blank policies:D: Breakdown cover (you are subject to T&C) but dont tell you what they are. Legal Proctection (you are subject to T & C) but dont tell you what they are. Insurance policy (you are subject to T & C) but dont tell you what they are. If they are referring to the T & C of a hire car company they use then surely they should supply those T & C???

Start the complaint ball rolling & then the ombudsman, there is also nothing on their website to say that there maybe restrictions. If they were happy to take your premium with you disclosing the 9pts then they should have advised that the hire car option would no longer be available. Looks like you have paid extra and are not entitled to its benefits. They also do not mention which hire company? so you can assume like insurers T & C will be different for each. Our company uses enterprise, theirs could be hertz etc,how would you know the T&C for every hirer. they should find you a hire company that will put you back on the road.

you could argue that the amount of force used would not have made any difference if the mortice lock had been on. Locks will only deter or delay,if a thief wants to get in they will. -

did they gain entry & exit via this door? -
you pass your ncd paperwork onto your new insurers, when you leave they will then issue you ncd on their paperwork. If you want the original docs back they can return them but they will then reduce your ncd to zero as they have returned your ncd which you could then be used elsewhere.i.e second car etc

the claim or the company?? has the car been recovered? it can be a while with theft claims, espically as you are not in the uk at the time to answer queries. Direct Line will need all the relevant docs,licence,V5,MOT,crime ref numbers, who had the keys, where was the vehicle parked etc.

was it a forced entry? or did they just open the door as the locks were not on? When your home is left without any occupants, or when your family retire at night, we will not provide any cover for theft or attempted theft at your home, unless the following security condition is met: • Use all the locks and bolts on all the outside doors. • Use all the locks and security fastenings on all the windows. When your family retire at night the locks and security fastenings on windows in occupied rooms do not need to be used. -

if our staff argued back or rude, guaranteed they would get bollocked, they can warn they will terminate the call etc. As the OP was asking for a breakdown of the charges the consultant couldnt tell him,if archived he should have been advised. But as Orange are trying to charge him they have to supply a breakdown of charges -
