  1. Well done! It shows how greedy they are and how their business model is set to produce results from immediate failure to pay. Don't forget to chase for charges again...
  2. My understanding is that council tax liability orders aren't on your credit history, I could be wrong here but that is what I was told when they tried taking me to court for money I did not even owe! The main reason they get liability orders is to get an attachment of earnings, and this would show on your employers records.
  3. I'm currently on ESA and will be coming up to the 13 week mark soon. I got caught in their raising the pension age trap too so I am doubly stuffed at the moment. If I go back to work after neck surgery on my dodgy discs chances are I won't earn enough to get a decent pension out of the employer. If the government were that evil they would turn round and offer voluntary euthanasia as I 'no longer serve any real purpose'. That is what will happen in the distant future if the current government remain in power for another term or two terms. I didn't choose for my neck to go wrong, the main thing to prevent it going wrong in the future is to have surgery now whilst I am still relatively young and fit...and hope that it doesn't go again. Living on £73.20 a week is no joke, £10 needed per week for fares, £20 put away for future bills, eg phone, electricity, council tax, and then you are left with £43.20 for food and other essential items. It isn't exactly 'money for nothing' when I have paid into the system since I was 16.
  4. I would go back to the date the legislation started, trying to go back further may land you in a major paperwork exercise. Keep your complaint simple and to one page - remember these are communication companies and they don't often communicate as well as they should!
  5. If a member of the DWP phoned virtually any office in the country and asked "Did XYZ apply for a vacancy with you?" they would be told "Sorry, its against data protection." So that is just an implied threat they use. It would be impossible for a large organisation to quickly provide that information to the DWP and many have enough problems providing payroll information to the DWP, let alone this spurious request. Seeking legal advice is pointless, it would not prove anything nor provide you with any material benefit - if you did somehow get some 'compensation' for this it would directly affect your benefit entitlement as that 'compensation' would be deemed 'earned income'.
  6. Don't forget you can take the ESA50 form to a local Jobcentre Plus centre and they will scan it directly to the DWP for you - they did mine after the DWP (now stands for dim witted people amongst my friends) lost the original, despite confirming they had it!
  7. In Windows 10 there is a setting that if you are on a battery laptop the wifi is turned OFF as an 'energy saving' feature. This is dead simple to disable. Windows 10 saved an older laptop from going to the local tip, it made it run far faster and solved a lot of the mismatched drivers problems the laptop kept having.
  8. My keyboard kindle is still working and that is pre 2012... I would treat anything printed in the Huffingtonpost with caution...they blow the slightest thing up into a major incident. There has been a normal update for software on the Kindle to bring in a few changes but nothing that will 'disable' the machines if not updated.
  9. These forms apparently take about 10 days to appear on their systems.
  10. Send them a copy of your jobseeking for the period concerned, and also state again that you went in the following day and fillied in a sickness form. All this 'automatically cancelling claims on day' is a time-wasting exercise all round. I had similar with DWP claiming they hadn't received ESA50 form. Luckily I had photocopied it and was able to take it to local office where they scanned it in and a week later the money is in my account. Corporate inefficiency comes to mind here. Too many people doing tick box forms for the sake of it and not being able (or its 'not in their job description) to check that something further has happened. Keep the letter to one page if possible and bullet point the steps eg On x date I was sick and telephoned x office On x date (the following day) I attended x office and xxxxx Your letter states that I did not take adequate steps - here is my job log for evidence.
  11. She might have a rogue bit of software on her PC doing the dirty on her. My Lenovo has a setting that when it is on battery it shuts the wifi down! I have managed to turn that little option off. There are lots of other reports of various settings that can be tweaked. That is the only one I've needed to do on the Lenovo. It is a good laptop and I like the keyboard.
  12. I still think UC will be thrown out. It is a waste of time trying to get the benefits under one banner when each council is allowed to do its own thing with regard to the amount of housing benefit and council tax relief the unemployed or disabled have to contribute towards. Bring on a General Election in August after the EU vote - I am voting for out as I've never believed in the single market practice - nor its bringing in other countries who hve little or no economic benefit to the whole group.
  13. Is your daughter in a town or in the country? I am about 1/2 mile away from the exchange here so shouldn't experience any problems speed wise.
  14. If they try throttling my speeds I will complain to the top, that is not what I signed up for. I oocasionally get throttled by TalkTalk during busy periods even though they claim they are not doing the throttling. I mostly do emails, and the odd bit of word processing or spreadsheets on the laptop. I don't play games on it as I prefer the Kindle Fire. I use my Samsung Galaxy Ace 4 phone a lot these days for everything else.
  15. O2 do it as well, I have a default for them for £41! I fully expect TalkTalk to give me a default as I leave them tomorrow - YAY. I've had no problems with my EE phone and am joining them for home broadband.
  16. Are you sure it isn't a [problem], there are a few that have come my way lately. I don't believe I had a dispute with Paypal in that period.
  17. Consultation is a misnomer - they already have made their decision and need to back it up with 'evidence' that this is what claimants want. TOSH. Claimants want to be left alone to do their own job searches, their home computers are often faster and able to connect to more sites than the ones in the job centre. All this 'witnessing people doing job searching is trying to find a way to get you on a worthless course. I got sent to a PC course and the trainer was somebody I had trained. He took me to one side and said he would have a word with the idiot who sent me to the basic course....he did and luckily I did not get a sanction for not turning up.
  18. There would have to be some kind of maximum rent cap if somebody is on Basic Guaranteed Income, unless that income is around 200 quid a week in my case my rent would not be covered. Many youngsters now would not be able to get onto the property market at all so most would be renting - and of course supply and demand would play a big part. What about 'economic' refugees from other allegedly unsafe countries? Would they be able to claim money in our country?
  19. They still apply a 10 quid charge if you do not pay by a certain date if you are not on direct debit. My letter to them is going out as soon as I have changed ISP. Going for them to 'waive' the final charge on my account instead of me not going for every single late payment and non payment for dd charge on both accounts.
  20. Just got a nice jumper and two tops for 99p each at the Age Concern place at the bottom of the high street. One is a nice Debenhams shirt.
  21. I would write to the CRA and point out that they had the case dismissed at court for not providing evidence of the alleged debt, therefore they should not be reporting on it.
  22. Well done. Hope more people go to court when Carter tries to discontiue at the last minute. Would show up his bad practices.
  23. One of my friends has been doing work experience in a charity shop warehouse as part of the government Workfare programme. He was told that they needed him for a further 16 week period as their assistant manager was going on maternity leave. He told them that if they were keeping him on they needed to properly pay him. The manager told him he had no choice in the matter. He said he was going to inform the local job centre of what she said to him and then get the local MP involved in his case. He had already done 12 weeks there instead of the usual 6. According to him some people showed up once and never came back, and other people only worked one day a week He ended up doing 6 days a week for them. This reason has put me off using that particular charity. I used to love charity shop clothes hunting but more and more of them are putting high prices on clothing, more than it would sell normally, especially shoes.
  24. Talk Talk have just sent me an email saying something has gone wrong with my digibox (which is NOT true) and I have to call them to get the courier to deliver me a free new one. I also have had a letter from them saying I won't get Free call blocking etc (I never use the phone line anyway so no loss to me!) Access to Sky TV online and other pay monthly services (I already get them via the Amazon Fire stick and PS3 box) amongst other things. Something is very wrong with that organisation!
  25. You will have a good case to argue that with them. How long is it before it goes away anyway?
