Reading Brian Moore's autobiography and most particularly the bits where he wound up the French. -

It is possible that your hotmail account has been hacked. If so, it should be reasonably easy to get it reset by contacting Microsoft. I can't post a link, but just do a search on "My hotmail account has been hacked" and you'll find what you need. -

As Milton Jones once asked, how do you text somebody to say that a loved one has died if your name is Lol? -

I remember being at a barbecue a few years ago when my niece's boyfriend got a text message from his Mum. It said "Uncle Fred's dead, love Mum". Unbelievable! -

That's bad isn't it? I must admit I get quite hacked of at that - it is very rude but you see it all the time. -

I suppose in this instance I shouldn't be surprised at the things that make some people laugh. Little things and all that. LOL! -

How can you teach someone common sense? It's like teaching somebody how to hear. It can't be done, common sense would tell you that. I'd also be interested to know how common sense can be a "thing of the past". It either exists or it doesn't. For instance, common sense tells most people not to laugh out loud at virtually every sentence they speak or write. -

What Made You Smile Today?

Well my first post on this subject was because of me having a wry smile because yet another of my posts had disappeared - this one made a passing reference to the matter in question, didn't mention the person concerned and only that person would have known what it was about, but it was still pulled. Hence the wry smile. Hope that's back on track enough. -

Well, CitiB, it's like this. There is a person who frequents this board who is, shall I say, cerebrally challenged (this is backed up by that person's own admission of the fact). Some while back, I got into some exchanges with that person after they posted what was, in my opinion, the most idiotic statement I had ever seen in my life. When I challenged them, they simply refused to answer my questions about the subject but my posts kept getting deleted. It now seems that whenever I make even a passing reference to the matter, my posts disappear. This happened just a few days ago. This is the reason for my cryptic post. I can't really make it any clearer. Even this one will probably disappear. -

I would have been shot at the Grammar School I attended if I had used an 'e' instead of an 'a'. -
Next it will be ID cards. Labour wasted billion on that one but I bet it hasn't gone away.

It's worth bearing in mind that this is a policy started by Labour. Do a search on this: "DWP Forced to Repay Disabled Victims of Labour’s Bedroom Tax" and you will see what I mean. This doesn't make it right. It was wrong under Labour and it is wrong under the Coalition, but let's at least have a bit of balance. -
Freedom of the press ?
Fred Bassett replied to Consumer dude's topic in The Bear Garden – for off-topic chat
All of this is true. In the Hall case though, there was clearly a very great weight of evidence against him, as there would have been against Savile if he was still alive. I fail to see how a conviction could be obtained against Bill Roache though unless he confesses. If the police don't go ahead it could still leave the impression that he was guilty even though he may well be completely innocent. -

It's a tough one this. The police have to investigate no matter how old the crime is, although quite how you prove a rape case from 46 years ago I have no idea, but they have to take these allegations seriously. The problem is that once somebody is named it is too easy to assume that they are guilty when they might be completely innocent. I really do hope that the likes of Bill Roache, Rolf Harris and Jimmy Tarbuck are not guilty and by that I mean actually not guilty, not just not guilty in the sense that the police couldn't prove it. If they are guilty then they will get their due like Stuart Hall will. Equally, if the police find that somebody has been making false allegations, I hope that person is charged and then gets some serious jail time. -
My advice to anyone who has Norton or McAfee or any other virus checker/firewall, is to switch to Microsoft Security Essentials. It is completely free and nowhere near as resource hungry as some of the others. Just google it and get going. Save yourself £70-£80 a year!
