Money Claim gone in today against Nationwide! I'm after £1717.96 including my court fee.

Reading some of the other threads, can I honestly expect to get my money back from them within a couple of weeks? Other companies seem to be proving a lot tougher than Nationwide!

Honestly, not joking at all, that's if you still have an account with them. If you do, money will no doubt go in next week :) They may take a bit longer if you have to wait for a cheque though, probably week after.

Yes I do still have the account with them. I'll keep this thread up to date with progress.

From what I read elsewhere, Nationwide always close accounts if you take action against them. Bit of a shame that seeing as I've had this account for about 15 years. Mind you, for £1,700 I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it! :-)

Thanks for the reminder Dolly! I'd forgotten to check the last couple of days! I can confirm that........

YES!

Nationwide have refunded me ALL the charges that I was after - I expect I'll see the interest / court costs going in separately after the weekend.

Obviously Nationwide are a bit slower at refunding at the moment. Psychic Dolly will need to adjust her predictions accordingly! :-)

Thanks for all your help!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I noticed that they have got slower over the last couple of weeks, maybe someone has been away on holiday or something. They better start getting back to normal or there will be trouble

Two days late Dolly - it arrived this morning!

To be honest, I'm really disappointed that Nationwide have decided to take this course of action. I've been with them for about 18 years and I can't really complain about the service that they've provided (apart from the bank charges obviously!)

It just goes to show you that, regardless of the gloss on the surface, all banks / building societies are the same underneath. Well, tough luck to you Nationwide.

Your loss - not mine... :x

Sooooo annoying, I wish there was something that could be done apart from a long, uncertain court case to try and get an injunction, which to be honest is the last thing you need after your original claim. I suppose from a business point of view your no longer their cash cow and are always likely to kick up a stink if anymore charges are put on the acount, its still a pathetic childish way to act for a huge company to behave like this.

Just look at it as a brand new start:)

Well, I had a letter from Nationwide today confirming what they've refunded. There's also a statement that says "Please be aware that the amount we have credited to your account is less than the amount you have requested on your claim'. ...and then it goes on.

Hmm, not sure I'm happy about this without any explanation whatsoever! (They've refunded about £100 short of my claim - and it seems to be the part of the loss of interest that's missing).

Any ideas what I should do? I deserve at least an understanding of why they have calculated things differently to me!

Thanks for the link dolly - really helpful.

My dates are as follows:

MCOL sent to Nationwide on 17/8/06 (deemed to be served on 22/8/06)

Nationwide say intend to defend on 23/8/06

Money refunded (except missing amount of £95.01) by 3/9/06

I presume that the 28 days are up on 19/9/06 (ie 28 days from 22/8/06).

Do you suggest that I write to them, asking them to explain their reasoning for the reduction and, unless I hear a reply by 19/9/06, that I will be commencing a judgement? If I do this, I wholeheartedly expect that, between now and the 19th, they will issue a defence as per Bev's situation!

28 daus are following the date it was deemed served, so yes, your dates look correct (I actually think it might fall a day later as it has to be full days)

I would write to them but I don't think you will get a response - many people have been promised breakdowns of charges refunds but I am not aware of anyone actually receiving them. Nationwide are paying short on a LOT of cases at the moment and people beed to stop this happening.

Here's the letter I'm sending.

Dear xxxxx,

ACCOUNT NUMBER: xxxxx

Claim Number xxxxx

Thank you for your letter dated 30th August 2006.

I can confirm that the amounts detailed within your letter have been refunded to my account. However, as this figure is considerably different to mine, I will not be advising the court that this matter is settled until I am satisfied that I have received all of the unlawful charges, plus the daily interest rate which equates to £0.35p per day from 17/8/06 - the issue date of my claim.

I look forward to receiving the full amount still outstanding plus any amounts mentioned above, by 19 September 2006 otherwise I will have no choice but to file for judgement upon you.

Please could you send me a full breakdown of the charges that you have refunded.
