I have been checking on my credit file recently as i am trying to sort everything out, and pay who i owe, and dispute what i don't think i owe.

In doing this i have found that i have two CCj's.

1. Leeds metropolitan university.

Idiots were sending letters demanding payment to the wrong address for 6 months,(had given them new address 3 times) and then gave me a CCJ.

Arranged payment installments with them and recently paid in full.

2. ???????????????????????????

No idea where this one has come from and does not mention who it is owed to. It is for a really small amount £135, and dates back to 5/11/2003. All i have is the court name, and case number.

Basically i would like to find out how to find who i owe this too. I have looked on a few websites, and have looked through this forumn, and i can't see any info on this situation.

Also if anyone knows if there is anything i can do about the Leeds Met one then that would also be much appreciated.

Anyone???

Contact the issuing court and quote the reference number of the case, they may be able to help you identify who the claimant is.

The Leeds one is satisfied so you could ask for a certificate of satisfaction although I am presuming you want it removed.

You may be able to ask for a set aside on the grounds you didnt receive any paperwork and as it is settled already, would mean this would be removed from your file if granted.

This does not remove the unknown one however, so until you know what this is and if it can be removed or not, the set aside for the first one may be a pointless excercise which will just cost you more money.

Of course I will pay you everything you say I owe with no proof.

Thanks, will contact the court in question and see if i can find out.

Should i get a certificate of satisfaction for both (presuming i can find who the debt is with) before i apply for both to be set aside. Or should i wait and apply for both the certificates of satisfaction, and for the debts to be set aside at the same time.

Hope that is clear.

Thanks

It may be to your advantage if you contact the company that applied for the CCJ (when you know who it is) to ask if they will agree to a set aside on the grounds that you never received any paperwork, in return for you settling the debt in full.

If you settle first and then apply for a set aside, I would imagine that it would make a set aside difficult as you are basically admitting all liability by paying up.

After re-reading your intial post, you may have the same problem with the Leeds debt as you say you settled the debt after finding out it was there.

Cannot hurt to try though.

The worst case scenario is that you can get certificates of satisfaction issued for each but unfortunately, that does not remove the record of the CCJs from your file.
