Hi All

I hope you are having as much fun as me, teaching the banks and building societies a lesson in fair play; it really is quite cathartic!

I am claiming back penalty charges from both Barclays and The Nationwide Building Society.

I applied to both for a list of charges, oh, as long ago as February. So far, neither Barclays nor the Nationwide have sent the information, although I have to say that Barclays are marginally better than the Nationwide, they have at least made me an offer.

I will explain. I predicted that both will use as many stalling tactics as they can get away with; I was right! However, only a few of my statements are missing, fortunately I have the majority. I therefore sent a letter to both Barclays and the Nationwide claiming back the charges I know of and at the same time, requesting that they provide a list of charges to cover the period(s) of the missing statements. This is what I mean by ‘the two pronged approach’.

I have just had the pleasure of filing my first claim against the Nationwide; there is something very sweet about clicking that “submit” button.

The truth is that the Nationwide doesn’t really owe me that much, BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT! Barclays on the other hand do and unless they get their act together soon, I will take great pleasure in ‘pressing more buttons’.

Oh, and I’ve also reported the Nationwide to The Information Commissioner's Office for breach of the sixth data protection principle, by failing to provide the information I am entitle to within 40 days - Data Protection Act 1998.

Aren’t I a stinker!

:p
