Hi there :)

I recently completed my claim to HSBC and have now decided to try The Woolwich. I have sent them my first letter on 25th march asking for my last 6 years statements enclosing a cheque for 10 pound.

I received a response on 27th March, returning my cheque and basically saying thanks for the letter, sorry to hear about the dissatisfaction received with the service..... and carry on to say "we have taken responsibility for fully investigating the issues you have raised, and we aim to resolve matters by 26th April".

However I am a little confused as all I asked for was a copy of my bank statements??? Is this a standard letter and what should I expect by 26th April?

Thanks in advance

Hi Buttercup

Yes, the returned cheque and the standard blurb letter you describe are all par for the course. Woolwich seems to be giving themselves a calendar month from the date of the letter received to the quoted date of 'sorting' it all out. What it means, is they aim to get your list of charges to you by then. They won't send actual statements, just a list; the list is good enough to calculate your unlawful charges though it doesn't include any interest you've been charges as a direct consequence of the charges.

3 Active Claims:

Barclays Refund of Bank Charges (Sole account) - Applied to lift court ordered Stay

Barclays Refund of Bank Charges (Joint account) - Awaiting court date

Barclays Refund of Bank Charges (Joint account) Pre-6 yrs- LBA sent.

3 Wins :

Barclays t/a The Woolwich (Data Protection Act breach costs & compliance)

HSBC (on behalf of brother)

Settled Out of Court - £3,874.76

Alliance & Leicester (on behalf of friend)

Settled Out of Court - £723.41
