Well, Nationwide sent us a letter today telling us they're closing our account in 30 days time and expect repayment of overdraft in full. I called them today and was told they "don't need a reason to close an account" Is there anything we can do?

 

They've added more charges to account since we took them to court, so I'll be claiming those back. AAARGGGHHH, they get me so annoyed!!!

Nationwide:

Total claim (including interest) 951.78

Settled in full: 20/04/2006

 

Halifax:

Total Claim (including interest) 1635.21

Halifax Settled!!! 12/05/2006

 

First Direct

Total Claim (including Interest) £2451.05

SETTLED IN FULL!!

 

Nationwide (Round 2)

Total claim £450 (Taken after account closure)

Prelim Letter Sent 17th Feb 07

 

Halifax (Round 2)

Total Claim £1227 including interest

Prelim Letter Sent 17th Feb 07

Settled in full 20th June 2007!!

So I have I but I have a parchute account with Natwest so not a problem to me at all.

 

I advise that you get another account with a different bank.

 

If they close every account that takes legal action against them then I am sure that one day they will have very few customers so who is the real winner here, us the customer who has reclaimed unlawful charges back. I also have two other accounts, now closed, with Nationwide that I will be reclaiming charges from.
