I have it from a trusted source that BOI have not refunded ANY bank penalty charges.

Nor at present intend to, First Rust are pushing people towrds court and will not pay up until then.

The only banks here that are responding to customer requests are Ulster and Northern before court action.

If anyone know any different, please put me right!

The Ulster will not refund the whole of a claim until they have received court summons however they do make a goodwill payment of anythinf ranging from £90 to £120 on a prelim letter but once court summons issued will usually settle within 2 weeks of receipt and will includ a confidentiality clause to sign before they pay out !

if my advice has been of any help to you then please click the scales ! Thank you :D

AIB in Mainland Britain?

AIB in Northern Ireland bought out TSB in 1989/90 and are know here as First Trust.

After making a number of complaints (long delaying tactics) I was soewhat amused to see that they have invited me to take part in their customer care survey becuase "First Rust are committed to customer service".....

Success! Had a letter from the Financial Ombudsman this morning, Bank of Ireland have settled in full rather than be investigated. £757.50 (my original claim was for £673.50 but by the time I went to the ombudsman they had applied some more fees, which I was also able to claim).

Slippery customers though - they claimed that I 'double counted' some fees (in which case they had 'double charged' me); and also stated that some charges I had claimed were services, viz: notified fees, and wouldn't pay them. In fact I hadn't claimed any notified fees, just 'referral items'. An interesting point, though for anyone thinking of claiming notified fees, is that the ombudsman agreed with the bank's position, as they were 'levied in accordance with the bank's published tariff'.

Well Done joruairc - all seems a bit Irish to me, but a result none the less. Well Done.

I'm still trying to find anyone who has AIB UK success or experience, they seem few and far between.
