Hi

Just thought it might be useful to have a new post with each step of the process recorded. I've already had a successful claim against Natwest and am in the process of claiming against Nationwide too. Thought I'd get the Egg one going as I'm liking getting all my money back! :D

I sent a request for my statements to Egg through their secure website last week. Used the standard letter from this site about needing the last 6 years worth of statements.

Cheeky Egg have replied saying that they are willing to supply me the statements, but at a cost of £2 per statement, which will be debited from my account! :o

Just replied to them pointing out that the statutory maximum they can charge for the information is £10. So now the fun begins...

Just a watchword;

If you have requested statements, then Egg are quite within reason to charge what they charge as statements are not necessarily covered under the Data Protection Act.

If, however you have requested a list of charges, with an addition that a copy of statements would suffice, then you can say the maximum charge is £10.

Picky I know, but that's what this business is:-)
