  1. Thanks to Isiris and podgydad Okay so really the best bet is to just post the letters to my friend to sign and post to the bank. I don't want to get in any trouble for doing it on someone else's behalf, and it sounds like the banks would ignore me anyway!
  2. Hiya dunnie1 I'm in the same position as you - said to a mate that I'd help them out with their charges as a favour, now they are asking that I take care of the whole process for them! We are only at the SAR stage, still early days yet. If I got them to sign a form of authority for me to act on their behalf I could just do all the letters without him having to get involved as much. If anyone knows whether it is okay to do this without having to be a solicitor please do let me know too! Thanks!
  3. Hi Just thought it might be useful to have a new post with each step of the process recorded. I've already had a successful claim against Natwest and am in the process of claiming against Nationwide too. Thought I'd get the Egg one going as I'm liking getting all my money back! I sent a request for my statements to Egg through their secure website last week. Used the standard letter from this site about needing the last 6 years worth of statements. Cheeky Egg have replied saying that they are willing to supply me the statements, but at a cost of £2 per statement, which will be debited from my account! :o Just replied to them pointing out that the statutory maximum they can charge for the information is £10. So now the fun begins...
  4. Just to let you know I got my Notice of Issue letter through as well. They have until 17th March to reply. I bet their legal department is well busy at the moment trying to cope with all of our claims! Looking forward to seeing all of us get our money back soon!
  5. Thanks for your comments I have gone on MCOL and filed a claim now. Fingers crossed I'll get it soon - it comes to nearly 3 grand ! SO glad to be getting it back!
  6. Hi smesin and jmorgan120 Your thread is really useful, thanks for posting up what you've been doing. I've got a claim going with the Nationwide too, I sent them the letter before action and they sent me exactly the same response: "Your complaint has been sent to us by Richard huntley, Customer Service Manager, Member Account Servicing. We've only just received the papers and will be reviewing them as soon as possible. Once we've finished, we will write to you with our findings. The Financial Services Authority allows us 8 weeks to investigate before you have the right to ask the Financial Ombudsman to review your case. This ends on (XXX date). If for any reason we can't send a full response by then, we'll write and explain why. Meanwhile, if you need to contact us, you can do so on the above address or telephone number." So are you saying that I can just ignore this letter and start the court claim now? The 8 weeks thing is really putting me off. Will it count against me if I file the papers before the 8 weeks are up? Thanks for your help with this.
  7. hi Just wanted to say Congrats on getting all ur money back! I hadn't even heard of this forum but my friend had been using it. She gave me the first template letter to claim the money back so I sent it, thinking I would have to go through the courts and they settled in full straight away! I think Natwest are giving up the fight now, more and more people are getting all the money they have been charged back quite easily. Don't know why other banks don't follow suit! Good luck to all you other Natwest claimers!
