Hi, i have sent my letter requesting the money back and have recieved a reply from halifax complain department, it looks pretty standard and basically say 'sorry that your not happy about the charges and we will aim to resolve your complaint within 4 weeks'

Is this normal and what steps should i anticipate taking now?

If they run true to form it is likely you will hear nothing until you send off your lba. They will just try to make you doubt yourself and your ability to claim your money back. Stick to the guidelines and continue to read. 14 days after you sent the prelim send them the lba. Only 4 weeks now - thought they told me 8 weeks but I ignored that.
