Took my Y reg renault cilo for a mot few days ago. It failed on windscreen washer were not supply enough water to the screen and on the handbrake. I was also given an advisory note stating stering wheel had sight freeplay, cut on offside tyre and

I got everything fixed and change the tyre and got prove that there was nothing wrong with the car by another mot inspector . I took the car back for a retest and it passed as aspected but was issued with another advisory note which included additional item.

I spoke to the garage and was told that it was they're mistake, and that they did not check the for the items on the advisory and told don't worry about, it will disappear in a year. The advisory should not of been given But I check the history status on the car and everything on the car is there.

How can this be sorted out? Any advice

Hi Loupy

Give me more details as I used to be a Nominated Tester(I MOT`d cars etc)

Advisory notes are just little things the tester may have noticed on his way around the inspection of the car. They in no way affect your MOT and are usually something simple e.g.the rear windscreen wiper blade split(this isn`t part of an MOT).

Give me some more details and I will try to advise.

Hi Jules

On the first advisory was the following

1) Steering system has slight free play detected at steering wheel.

2) offside front anti-roll bar linkage rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement

3)offside front tyre has cut , outer wall

I got all of this fixed and took the car back for its retest. It passed. The 2nd advisory with the above items mentioned and and the additional item was

1) nearside front anti-roll bar linkage rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement

this was the garages error.

I guess I'm a little upset about this coz I been told that I am liable for prosecution or invalidate my insurance with regards to my defects

regards

loupy

  • 2 weeks later...

an advisory should be for something that is a pass on the day of inspection .but will need attention in the near future ....eg a tyre or exhaust ...... any one who enquires to the vehicle will see the exhaust got an advisory . looks underneath sees new exhaust and goes away and hopefully buys it
