I read taking it on the chin as letting it affect a lot of people with more deaths rather than trying to save lives. That's what I posted higher up from Pippa Crerar.

So the Orange One has banned travel to the US from most of Europe but not from the UK?

 

Does that mean that anyone from Europe wanting to travel to the US will just pass through the UK? ETA It seems Ireland is OK as well.

I see what you're saying but the US has banned people coming in from the UK and Ireland now. What about Americans who travelled to either of them in the last few days?

Neither would I, but I would like HMG to start showing some compassion for people who are affected and to listen to the WHO advice instead of cherry-picking it.

I don't have time to look up the detail right now, but from what I've read they have ignored a lot of the WHO's advice and don't seem inclined to 'test, test, test' as the WHO said today, I think it was.

On a more sombre note, I've just seen on Twitter that cynical thieves are posing as coronavirus testers at people's homes. Please pass this on so people aren't caught out.

I can't believe that the orange one wants the US to go back to work before Easter, even though their epidemic isn't near the peak yet. It sounds even worse than the UK's herd immunity idea.

I've read enough on herd immunity to get confused, but I believe that no 10's strategy of letting everyone get ill at the same time, without initially protecting the vulnerable, would have completely overwhelmed the NHS and caused an unspeakable number of deaths.

 

A number of commentators are saying that 'herd immunity' was another way of dressing up doing nothing.

As my cousin said when she sadly lost her mum, it wasn't a surprise but it was still a shock. That's how I felt when I lost my mother
