I sent my preliminary letter on 8th April 2006 and this is the reply I've received in full from their customer services dated 18th April 2006:

"Further to your recent enquiry I regret to advise you that, having fullyconsidered your request, we are unable to make a frefund of the charges applied to your Bank Account.

If you would like any further information, please contact us on the above telephone number or call into your local branch.

When telephoning or writing to us, please quote your Roll Number.

Yours sincerely,

Customer Services"

I will not be contacting the bank. Moneyclaim will be my next port of call. I'll keep you all posted on the outcome.

After attempting to offer me £400 of my claim, they have now come back and paid me the full amount including court charges to the tune of £1595.00!

Thanks to CAG and all their help.

I gave a donation via your link above (Confirmation should show via my email address). I think I also took your survey but I'm not sure. However I'm happy to take it again and will do so.

Thanks again!

By the way, I'm going to try my old Natwest account next. The only thing is, while I have my old account details, I think I may have had 2 accounts with them in the past. I've sent a DPA letter for the one I remember but does anyone know how I find out if there was another account?

Any help with the above query would be appreciated.

P.S. Should I post this in the Natwest Forum?

I couldn't help noticing some threads relating to people mentioning credit card companies such as Barclaycard and MBNA.

Can we also take action against these institutions or only against the banks that issue them?
