Hi everyone

 

I lost my job nearly 3 wks ago and not having much luck. I will need to start claiming.

 

Last time I was on the dole was 12 yrs ago so I dont know how it goes these days.

 

I will need rent help as well.

 

Heres my problems though

- Im not on thie electoral role and Ive got unpaid debt from 6 yrs ago.

Pls dont judge at the time and still it was impossible.

Low wages and temporary work.

 

What I need is will those problems have any impact on me if I can claim or what I can. how wil my problems affect me.

Claiming any benefit shouldn't have any effect on you regarding the electoral register. Depending on your circumstances, you may end up on the dreaded Universal Credit which needs to be claimed online although there is help available via the JobCentre into filling in the forms.

 

In regard to your debts. IF any of these debts haven't been paid at all in the last six years (five in Scotland) they may be Statute Barred meaning that you don't have to pay them but it's worth getting yourself back on the Electoral Register so that you can then check your credit files to make sure no sneaky County Court Judgements have been obtained.

I need to sort this but I dont know where to start. If I go on electoral role will i end up with crditors knockin on door? because i need most to get my benefits sorted right now and get past christmas and paying the rent and stuff. How do i check my credit in private as well to know where to start.

You are worrying too much through anxiety. No data alerts will be triggered. No visits. Debt collectors have no powers. You might get letters asking whether you are OB One and they think you may owe a debt, but that will be a fishing letter you can ignore. Further letters with mpre details might follow, but not much else.

 

Get your benefits sorted out. If you visit the Entitied to website, you can see what you can claim and what process you need to follow. You will have a wait of about a month anyway, so do not delay,

you should never be running away from debts by not registering on the voters

 

you stand a 100% chance of getting backdoor CCJ's if you do.

 

go get that credit file!

cant see how you can be on benefits without being registered anyway?
