Obtaining hospital's surgeons list via freedom of information act

Hi,

 

I hope someone can help me with a unique query.

 

I need to get in touch with a particular surgeon that operated on another patient who was admitted to the same ward as me - this is for a very rare and specialist medical issue that I also developed. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the surgeon's name as this was a few years ago, but i should be able to identify the name of the surgeon from a list of names if I received a list of all surgeons operating at that hospital during the time when I was admitted there.

 

Is this something I could ask using the Freedom Of Information Act, or would the names of surgeons not be provided?

Usually every hospital has a website with a link to their staff profile.

If you don't find it look through the reviews and see if any name mentioned sounds familiar.

Speak to your GP surgery, the clinical letters will be in your notes and will detail who carried out the procedure. No need to go to the lengths of FOI requests.

My understanding of the OP is that they don't want the surgeon who carried out their (past) procedure, but the different surgeon who carried out a different procedure in the past (that the OP now needs!), on a different patient, so the OP's notes won't help (beyond confirming the date of procedure!)

Although the same principle applies, call the hospital and ask to speak to one of the department secretaries and explain what you need, they're normally really helpful.
