I recently got into debt with Sainsbury's Credit Card. The debt was for £1280. I also had another credit card i needed to pay off, anyway, when i was transferring the money, I got the amount mixed up and ended up paying £2240 into my sainsbury's account via BACs.

I have spoken to Sainsbury's and they have now told me that the debt was moved to Westcot, who i phoned, however they said the debt hasn't come across and I need to speak to Sainsbury's recovery team, which i did after I could see the wrong amount on my online Sainsbury's account 24 hours after the payment. They said they couldn't see the payment.

Now the regular Customer service have refused to speak with me as the account has been passed over - although i have no idea who too.

Is there any suggestions people can give? I was of the understanding that regardless of it being passed over to a debt collector that I didn't need to engage with anyone other than the company the agreement was made with?

I'm just wondering what the best course of action (writing a letter I assume) is to close the account and get the amount that i's now in credit refunded to me.

Any help appreciated.

First thin is to STOP talking to Wetcloths on the phone.

Deal directly with Sainsbury's, this is their responsibility.

Ideally you need to keep things in writing, so you have a paper trail of evidence, however email will be OK, and unless you can record your phone calls, then you may as well talk to next doors cat for all the good it will do.

Who is your bank?

You can do a visa debit chargeback with your bank to have that money refunded, and it can be done immediately.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

I had nothing but problems when i started experiencing financial difficulties with Sainsburys, clearly they are still acting in the same way. I had a similar experience where money i had paid to Sainsburys had disappeared and i was being passed from them to the people they had sold the debt too. I had to exhaust their complaints procedure (despite them deciding to close my complaint without dealing with it and without informing me) and also contacting the FSO. I eventually got it sorted and managed to get £100 compensation from them and a apology.

I said to the person i spoke to at Sainsbury's that i didn't have to deal with a debt company, (the advisor didn't know who the debt collector was) but she was adamant that she wouldn't discuss it. This was confirmed by the manager an L Young. I should have recorded the call. The bank that transferred the money is not mine it was a friend who lent me the money, I would ideally like to keep him out of this situation now. I will put this into writing and see what comes back.

they were claiming that they couldn't even see the account, let alone deal with it. It was a phone call i didn't need.

make a official complaint, asking them where this money has vanished too, send proof that the money was paid to your sainsburys account and you want the balance to reflect this payment. Make sure you send anything recorded delivery and i would start a diary of events. Make yourself aware of their complaints procedure so that you can involve the FSO if they fail to respond. Dont make your complaint over the phone, it is too easy for them to not even log it. Everything in writing.

Adapt this letter and deliver to them:_

Dear Sir or Madam,

Claim under Visa Debit Card Chargeback Scheme rules: –

I am writing to you in connection with the Transaction by Debit Card in favour of xxxxxx on xxxx xxxxx 2015. I enclose the following documentation which provides details of the transaction:- see attached information:-

Using my Debit Card Number:-

In breach of contract it appears, since when the £xxx.xx an over payment to Credit Card has not been credited back to my account (which only shows as a debit).

The transaction was less than 120 days ago and accordingly, I am writing to request a refund of the above amounts under the Chargeback Scheme rules.

Having reported to a member of your staff the situation no solution was forthcoming to conclude the matter.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Yours faithfully,

xxx xxx xxxx
