Hi everyone,

My wife received a letter on July 9th from Pastdue Credit Solutions, apparently acting on behalf of, and claiming a debt of £700 owed to HMRC for Single Tax Credits.

The letter doesn't give any info about the debt, but just threatens further action if not paid, giving a payment date of yesterday.

We have not claimed tax credit for around 7 or 8 years, and even then it was as a couple.

The last time my wife claimed as a single person was 10, maybe 12 years ago.

We have never been told about this debt, and even if she did have a debt a decade ago, we had many years of claiming where they would have taken monies owed back again I think?

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this company, or deal with this situation?

Thanks

Ignore pastdue, powerless nobody's who can do absolutely diddly!

If HMRC haven't been in contact regarding this, then either get on with your life, OR, contact them, preferably in writing (unless you can record your phonecalls?)

Does your OH have a common name?

Moved recently?

Applied for any credit recently?

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Best idea is to ring hmrc, and ask

If they then state there is possible adebt then send them an sar its free to then and then try and prove them wrong or make them show the proof its owed
