British Gas Late Payment Charge

I changed my supplier British Gas to a new supplier in March this year. They produced a final bill for me in April of £825.00

 

 

Obviously at that time I was already paying a D/D to my new supplier.

so I paid it in 2 1/2's of £425.00 in April & £400 last week

The balance was still sowing as owing of £18.00 so I contacted B Gas and was told they had added a late payment charge of £18.00

 

My question is can you challenge a late payment charge on the same basis as it being a fair charge etc

and also I am not technically a British Gas customer or in a contract with them do do I tell them to go and whistle for it!

You can challenge it. Its a penalty fee

You will do better dealing with British gas in writing

They have no customer service at all

Awful company

 

Check your credit file

They were reporting late payment on my credit file 2 years after I closed the account with them that was one of their unlawful penalty fees
